Rashid (3/14) and Noor (2/25) once again proved to be lethal with their attacking bowling skillset as the duo rattled the Royals’ batting line-up in the middle overs.
The Royals had a slow start as they lost Jos Buttler early. Yashaswi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson went for a few big hits to add crucial runs before the former got run out and the hosts posted 50/2 in the PowerPlay.
Titans continued to put pressure on the hosts with their clinical bowling and Rr failed to establish a stable partnership, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Hardik Pandya struck in the second over to dismiss Buttler after conceding two successive boundaries. Then,...

Jaipur, May 5 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals (Rr) won the toss and opted to bat first against Gujarat Titans (Gt) in an Ipl 2023 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Friday.
While Rr made one change in the playing XI as Adam Zampa came in for Jason Holder, Gt haven’t made any change.
“We would like to bat first. It’s a bit hard to read this pitch. Let’s bat a few overs and figure it out later. The standard of cricket we are playing is really good. We were expecting something like this from Jaiswal with the prep he had been putting in. Zampa comes in place of Holder,” Rr skipper Sanju Samson said at the toss.
Gt captain Hardik Pandya said: “We were going to bat first as well. If the home captain does not know what to choose, I thought I might as well bowl and see what happens.

Mumbai, May 1 (Ians) Yashasvi Jaiswal’s magnificent 124 went in vain as Suryakumar Yadav (55) and Tim David (45 not out) carried five-time champions Mumbai Indians to a six-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the 1000th match of Indian Premier League (Ipl) in a run-fest at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Mumbai, April 30 (Ians) Young left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the highest score by an uncapped Indian batter in the Ipl, a stunning 124 off 62 balls that propelled Rajasthan Royals to a massive 212/7 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
In the 1000th Ipl game, Jaiswal shined the brightest by mixing solidity in technique and power in shots which were conventional and innovative while using the crease well in hitting 16 fours and eight sixes at a strike-rate of 200 in an innings where the next best score was just 18.
He made 41 runs off 23 balls in Power-play and amassed 44 runs off 25 balls in the middle overs, before smacking 39 runs off 14 balls in the death overs in a scintillating show of batsmanship.
Jaiswal continued from where he left in Jaipur, hooking off Cameron Green and Jofra Archer for sixes. From the other end, Archer was beating Jos Buttler for pace and movement, before...

Jaipur, April 20 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals had an 87-run opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler but impressive performances by Lucknow Super Giants bowlers, led by Avesh Khan’s 3/25 and Marcus Stoinis’ 2/28 helped their team win by ten runs in an Ipl 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Wednesday.
At the mid-stage of the game, Rajasthan kept Lucknow to 154/7 despite Kyle Mayers making 51 and it looked like a below-par total on a two-paced pitch.
Till the 11th over, Rajasthan didn’t lose any wicket and seemed to be cruising towards the target. But Stoinis taking out both openers got the match in Lucknow’s favour as Rajasthan lost four wickets for 32 runs from overs 12-17. Lucknow bowlers used conditions and big leg-side boundary to dry up runs as required run-rate climbed up, resulting in Rajasthan eventually ending at 144/6 in 20 overs.

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals head coach and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara lauded skipper Sanju Samson for bringing out his attacking game against Gujarat Titans’ leg-spinner Rashid Khan, saying the ‘hat-trick’ of sixes he hit against him was the game-changer in swinging the momentum in their favour.
With 112 more runs off 48 balls, not many gave Rajasthan a chance for a victory as they were 66/4 in 12 overs. But Samson unleashed by taking 20 runs off Rashid Khan in the 13th over via a hat-trick of sixes to eventually make 60 while Shimron Hetmyer smashed a whirlwind unbeaten 56 off just 26 balls to give Rajasthan an improbable three-wicket victory.

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals pacer Trent Boult has said that “hunger from the batting unit” took the team to a thrilling win over the defending champion Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (Ipl) match.
Rr was struggling at 55-4 at the halfway stage in front of exceptional bowling from Gt’s new-ball bowlers. However, a splendid show from captain Sanju Samson (60) and a batting blitz at the death from hit-man Shimron Hetmyer (56*) helped Royals record a three-wicket win over Titans on Sunday.
“We got some very talented batters on our side and I think the real positive is seeing guys stand up at different times. Different guys standing up at different times has helped us win the game from different situations. It exactly happened the same way as Hetmyer got to his fifty in 25 balls and finished off the chase by pulling Ahmad over deep mid-wicket for six.

It exactly happened the same way as Hetmyer got to his fifty in 25 balls and finished off the chase by pulling Ahmad over deep mid-wicket for six.

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals were literally in a no man’s land at 66/4 in 12 overs in pursuit of chasing down 178 against a Gujarat Titans bowling attack, who bowled 26 dot balls in the first six overs.
With 112 more runs off 48 balls, not many would have given them a chance for a victory. But captain Sanju Samson unleashed by taking 20 runs off Rashid Khan in the 13th over to eventually make 60 while Shimron Hetmyer smashed a whirlwind unbeaten 56 off just 26 balls to give Rajasthan an improbable three-wicket victory.
The stunning last-over heist also means Rajasthan retain their top spot on the points table with eight points. Samson and Hetmyer added a crucial stand of 59 runs off 27 balls, followed by the latter adding 47 runs off 20 deliveries with Dhruv Jurel to complete the chase with four balls to spare.
Mohammed Shami built pressure from the word go while troubling Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.

Chennai, April 12 (Ians) Jos Buttler struck a 36-ball 52 but Rajasthan Royals lost their way against a Ravindra Jadeja-led disciplined bowling performance by Chennai Super Kings to get restricted for a below-par 175/8 in 20 overs in Match 17 of Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 here on Wednesday.
Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal (38) helped Rajasthan Royals blast 57/1 in Power-play and take them to 87/1 in ninth over but Jadeja claimed two wickets — getting Padikkal and Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson (0) in quick succession on a pitch that offered turn and bounce as Csk fought back to take control of the match. Chennai’s rookie pacer Akash Singh, who claimed his first two wickets in Ipl for 40 runs and Tushar Deshpande bagged 2-37 as the hosts managed to restrict the once-galloping Royals.

Chennai, April 12 (Ians) Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss in his 200th match as Chennai Super Kings captain and decided to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium here on Wednesday.
Dhoni said the reason he decided to field first as he expects the pitch to be slightly on the slower side and the dew will come into play later in the evening.
“It will be slightly on the slower side. There could be dew around. Feels good [to lead for the 200th time]. The crowd was fantastic. The new stadium is like playing in Switzerland. We have seen cricket change. Feels good to have survived for so long and it’s a format we have to keep evolving. Important to get rid of mistakes in the later stages,” Dhoni said at the toss.
Csk have made two changes in their playing XI with Mitchell Santner and...

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) The first over in both innings of the Rajasthan Royals-Delhi Capitals clash in Ipl 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Ground on Saturday literally made the difference between the two teams apparent.
Yashasvi Jaiswal showed his full range of shots by hitting Khaleel Ahmed for five fours to be 20/0 in the opening over. With the ball, Trent Boult took out impact player Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey on back-to-back balls to leave Delhi at 0/2 in their opening over.
That set the tone for Rajasthan’s 57-run victory over Delhi and propelled them to go on top of the ten-team points table. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler smashed half-centuries in a rollicking 98-run opening partnership, including slamming 14 boundaries in the first six overs.
Though DC clawed back with three quick wickets in the middle overs, Shimron Hetmyer provided for the finishing touch with 38 not out to propel Rajasthan to 199/4. In reply,...

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler smashed half-centuries while Shimron Hetmyer provided the finishing touch to propel Rajasthan Royals to 199/4 against Delhi Capitals in an Ipl 2023 match at the Barsapara Cricket Ground, here on Saturday.
Jaiswal and Buttler slammed 14 boundaries in the first six overs to reach 68 runs in the powerplay. Their stand was 98 runs before Jaiswal fell for a sparkling 60. From there, Delhi clawed back through their spinners in the middle overs.
At 130/3 in 15 overs, Rajasthan seemed to have squandered a great start till Buttler, who made 79 and Hetmyer, unbeaten on 39, got 69 runs in the last five overs to take Rajasthan to one short of 200.
Jaiswal began by showing his range of shots against Khaleel Ahmed in the opening over. A pull over midwicket was followed by a cut through deep third man (and aided by a misfield). He then drove through extra cover, chipped over long-on,...

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Rajasthan are coming off a five-run loss to Punjab Kings at this venue which happened a couple of days ago while Delhi are winless after losing their first two matches of Ipl 2023.
After winning the toss, Warner said Manish Pandey, Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell come in the playing eleven. There’s no Mitchell Marsh as he has flown back home to Perth for his wedding while Aman Khan, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan are slotted in the substitutes for this game.
“Don’t know what’s gonna happen. Hopefully we will start well. Marsh has gone home to get married. All the best to him,” he said.

Guwahati, April 6 (Ians) After losing the final over thriller to Punjab Kings (Pbks) by five runs, Rajasthan Royals (Rr) skipper Sanju Samson said that the team did well to get close to win but fell short of just one hit for the win.
Chasing a huge 198-run target, the Royals had managed 57 in the powerplay, although they lost three wickets while doing so. Sanju stood tall and took the attack to the opposition in his style and played a crucial 42-run knock off 25 balls.
Outcome of the match “Yes I think it’s very important in games like this, where the momentum shifts away from you. We started off really well, we finished the powerplay really well. I think in the middle (overs) we were expecting us to get those boundaries here and there.
“They bowled really well, two, three tight overs together. That’s where the momentum went a bit down.

New Delhi, April 6 (Ians) Punjab Kings (Pbks) rode on skipper Shikhar Dhawan (86) and his opening partner Prabhsimran Singh’s (60) brilliant 90-run stand, and a magnificent spell from paceman Nathan Ellis (4/30) to beat Rajasthan Royals (Rr) by a narrow five-run margin in their second match of the Ipl 2023 at the Aca Stadium in Guwahati.
Chasing a stiff 198 for victory, Rr fell short, managing 192/7 in their 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer (36 runs) and Dhruv Jurel (32*) threatened to snatch the game away from Pbks towards the end but the latter held their nerves to record their second straight win in the tournament.
JioCinema Ipl expert Suresh Raina praised Dhawan for controlling the innings and leading the team to victory.
“He was performing the anchor’s role. Much is made about his strike rate but today he played an impactful role. Look at the fact that he’s made 450+ runs in 7 consecutive Tata Ipl seasons. He...

Guwahati, April 6 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals (Rr) captain Sanju Samson has defended his decision to bring spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as an opener against Punjab Kings (Pbks), saying that regular opener Jos Buttler suffered an injury scare while taking a catch and had a stitch on his finger.
Chasing 198, Rr started with a strange batting line-up as Ravichandran Ashwin came in to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal because Buttler had gone off the field immediately after taking a catch in the last over of the Punjab Kings’ innings to dismiss Shahrukh Khan.
The Royals decided to hold back a regular opener Devdutt Padikkal to face the spinners and Buttler walked out to bat at No. 3 position.
The move, however, didn’t turn out to be fruitful for the Royals’ as Padikkal seemed to struggle during his 26-ball 21. The Royals had managed 57 in the powerplay for the loss of three wickets.
