This season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life is wrapped up, so that means it’s time to drag everyone together to bicker and open old wounds with the help of host Shaun Robinson. Yay! I’m not sure it’s in good taste for this to be on The Skinny, but why should anyone care about tact? This is like the TLC version of a cage match. "Dreamgirls" hit the right note by garnering eight NAACP Image Awards nominations Tuesday, including best motion picture.
The period musical from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures also nabbed mentions for best actor (Jamie Foxx), actress (Beyonce Knowles), supporting actor (Danny Glover, Eddie Murphy), supporting actress Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Hudson) and soundtrack.
Vanessa L. Williams, Isaiah Washington, Chandra Wilson, Shaun Robinson and DB Woodside joined NAACP executives to announce the nominees in 35 categories for the 38th installment of the kudoscast during a press conference at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a 98-year-old civil rights organization, honors projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in film, TV, music and literature. This year's show, dubbed "Youth Create Change", will air live March 2 from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
"Akeelah and the Bee", "Blood Diamond", "Catch a Fire" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" will square off against "Dreamgirls" for the ceremony's top film honor.
On the TV side, CBS led the pack with 19 nominations, followed by the CW with 17.
