Your days are numbered, Jaron Strom. The Voice on Monday began its Season 14 Knockouts, aka the rounds designed to discharge the last of the coaches’ cannon fodder prior to the Playoffs. So, before sitting down and tuning in, I was thinking that Jaron would soon be jettisoned from Team Blake, Gary Edwards would be dropped from Team Adam, Dallas Caroline’s nerves would at last be settled by her elimination from Team Alicia, and Jamella would get cut from Team Kelly (probably in a montage like both her Blind Audition and her Battle, poor thing!). Who actually got knocked out when past winners Jordan Smith,...

In addition to the score, Jay Wadley and director James Schamus collaborated on an original song for the film titled “Is it Love?” featuring two-time Grammy nominee, Jane Monheit.
Indignation premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year and was released in Us theaters by Roadside Attractions and Summit Entertainment on July 29th. Smarten up
Money's obviously tight. Lff screenings no longer open with a handsomely mounted short film, nor does an actorly voice belonging to Michael Caine or Chiwetel Ejiofor tell us we're watching the best films from around the world, here, in London. This year, there's just a brief interstitial of the making of the 2010 Lff poster — itself a collage of old, torn movie posters — to let us settle into our seats. BFI's online coverage has been scaled back a bit and there hasn't been a goody bag yet. And at opening night, lots of people weren't even in black tie. Mark Strong, top actor, top bloke, but mate, you can't wear a bloody jumper to a gala. And Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan,...

It?s been just over a decade since Jane Monheit first made a name for herself after placing second in the Thelonious Monk competition in 1998. Since then, she?s been touted one of the next great vocalists of her generation, and she?s now on tour in support of her seventh release and second for the Concord Label, The Lovers, the Dreamers and Me. The recording features arrangements by Gil Goldstein and songs ranging from standards by the likes of Cole Porter and Leonard Bernstein, a pop song by Fiona Apple, and love songs like ?The Rainbow Connection,? a children?s song she sings to her son, Jack, who was born during the making of the recording. Monheit will appear at the Blue Note in June during the first leg of the June Vocal Series, which will feature Spencer Day, Sophie Milman, Bilal and Rachelle Ferrell throughout the month.

'Billy Elliot,' Original London Cast, Decca BroadwayAfter a three-year wait, the London hit has reached New York and looks to repeat its effervescent success on Broadway. There will be no local cast recording, as the West End version is considered completely representative. Haydn Gwynne, imported for the New York production, is heard here, but the Billy — one of the initial three — is Liam Mower. The group number "Solidarity" is solid; so is "Expressing Yourself." The common wisdom has it that composer Elton John (Lee Hall is the lyricist) writes better when rocking, but he upends that canard on a bonus CD by turning "Electricity" into a superlative show tune.'The Gig,' Original York Theatre Company Cast, Jay RecordsThe musical comedy gods finally smile on Douglas J. Cohen's adaptation of Frank D. Gilroy's film tribute to male bonding and middle-age crises. This long-overdue recording is another step in establishing the tuner,...
