Chris Oliver-Taylor on the set of ‘Neighbours’.
Since taking the helm of Fremantle’s Asia Pacific operations last September, Chris Oliver-Taylor has been busy realigning the Australasian business.
Adhering to Fremantle’s global mantra as “the place creatives call home,” the CEO has significantly upped the drama development budget and is prepared to commission blind scripts, i.e., before a network is aboard.
Oliver-Taylor and his team led by Jennifer Collins, the Australian director of content, are discussing projects with a host of A-grade writers including Robert Connolly, Giula Sandler, Katherine Thomson, Tommy Murphy and Matt Cameron.
“We want to work with world-class writers, predominantly but not exclusively Australian,” he tells If in his first interview since moving over from Matchbox Pictures, succeeding Ian Hogg.
“The second part of the strategy is having great IP, whether it’s a book, a play or an original idea. The third is a strong financial strategy.

The real reason to watch "Family Feud" is to see if anybody comes up with the dumbest answer ever. Has anyone ever actually felt proud of himself for getting a #1 answer? That's the problem with "Feud": You can never feel smart when you play it. You can only feel horrible if you mess up. Today, we have the greatest, most idiotic "Family Feud" response of them all. Contestant Mike stuns Australian host Grant Denyer with a couple of funny answers before getting to the single worst answer in "Feud" history. Scroll to 0:43 for the question. Seven’s Sunrise is claiming an Australian TV first with weatherman Grant Denyer after he made a live parachute jump during this morning’s program and read the forecast on the way down.
A spokesman for Seven said: “Skydiving is no easy feat.. but to do it live on television is incredible. From a technical point of view this was an extraordinary effort. It took a team of six Sunrise crew weeks of planning to pull this off and a full day of testing yesterday. The timings had to be exact and the satellites had to pick up the signals. Three cameras were involved – one strapped to Grant’s wrist, one strapped to another skydiver and one on the ground.
“What made this stunt so impressive is that Grant had audio the whole time and was able to talk with Kochie and Mel in the studio. He was able to...

From the advertising dollars to the ratings rivalry – television’s earliest timeslot is big business. Brooke Hemphill sets her alarm and goes on set to find out the perfect recipe for making breakfast TV.
It’s after midnight on a Thursday evening in Sydney’s Cbd. The streets are largely deserted as the final day of the working week looms. While the nine to five set are safely tucked up in bed, in the heart of the city, Seven’s Martin Place studio is quiet, although never sleeping. Several journalists staff the newsroom on the first level and one flight of stairs above, two producers work the overnight shift for Seven’s market-leading breakfast program, Sunrise. Soon they will be joined by line producer David ‘Dougie’ Walters who is about to begin his day.
At a time when hospitality workers and university students contemplate calling it a night, Walters is at his desk.

"Things kick in for dads at different stages. Pregnancy? Mum does all the work there. Then baby comes out but in the first three months, unless you have a boob, baby's not really that interested in dad! Then you get to the moment when she starts laughing at daddy and you go, 'Whoa! Because he didn't want to disappoint his fans in Australia, Justin Bieber still continued his plan to perform at Channel 7's Sunrise program at Martin Place on April 26 despite the fact that it was ordered to be canceled by police. The Canadian singer was allowed to sing only one song and he chose "Baby".
Justin performed from behind a glass window due to safety concern following fans chaos which made least 10 young girls collapsed and the security barriers broke.
