When Andre Agassi was rising the ranks as a professional tennis player — en route to becoming one of the greatest American men to ever hit the circuit — he often felt forced to defend his hometown of Las Vegas.
“I was born and raised here,” Agassi said last Saturday during a press conference to promote The Netflix Slam featuring superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. “When I turned pro in 1,972 years ago, there was about 300,000 people that lived in this town. I would travel the world representing Vegas, having to answer some very basic questions such as, ‘What’s it like to live in a hotel?’ It was like, wait a second, Vegas is more than just a strip [of hotels]. To watch it evolve to a point where now we’re seeing not just sports come here, but we’re seeing the greatest environments for sports to participate in the Super Bowl and Formula 1 now here.

Netflix stuck the landing on a star-studded exhibition match between tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz this weekend. Stakes were high on the court, but the Las Vegas showdown was most effective as a lush advertisement for the streamer as a fledgling live sports destination.
Taking over the Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena, the inaugural Netflix Slam pit legend Nadal against 20-year-old Alcaraz. Rafa, as Nadal is affectionately known to millions of global fans, had not played since a hip injury flared up in 2023. Nadal has only faced Alcaraz a handful of times in his career and wound up losing to the prodigy in a nail-biting tie break.
No one really lost, though. Least of all Netflix. Branding was so pervasive in the hotel and casino that pedestrians lined up 100 deep to take photos in front of a “Netflix Slam” sign, installed on a massive wall of tennis balls.

“Ok, I can die now.”
So said a woman seated behind The Hollywood Reporter inside Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, host of the inaugural The Netflix Slam. She had just snapped a selfie that captured superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz warming up on center court over her shoulder. Sure, it was a dramatic statement but it wasn’t obscene for such an occasion. There’s no shortage of gasp-worthy moments in Sin City, and there’s no doubt many of the 9,489 seated guests could relate to the sentiment.

The 37th edition of the Montpellier Open, commonly known as Open Sud de France, will be played immediately after the conclusion of the first Grand Slam of 2024.
This Atp 250 tournament will run from January 29th to February 4th, consisting of a 28-player singles draw. The event will be played exclusively at Sud de France Arena, which is an indoor setting in the Montpellier suburb of Perols that houses almost 7,500 fans.
Some of the most iconic names in men's tennis have won this tournament in the past, including Yannick Noah, Pete Sampras, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, and Andy Roddick - all of whom have won a Grand Slam.
The tournament organizers have done their best to bring a pool of richly talented players despite the limiting factor around a very constrained schedule in which most top players will have been competing in the final stages of the 2024 Australian Open.

Coco Gauff's coach, Brad Gilbert has given one principal reason for the teenager's historic US Open triumph.
Gauff has recently admitted that she felt she needed to win a Grand Slam as a teenager. Last year's US Open represented one of the final opportunities for the American to achieve that dream.
Veteran coach Gilbert joined Gauff's team in August 2023. He has previously worked with big names such as Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori. Agassi won 6 of his Grand Slams under Gilbert's guidance.
Gilbert received much praise for his role in Gauff's triumph at Flushing Meadows. Although all the other current and previous members of Gauff's team also deserve a lot of credit for their roles in her development to that point, Gilbert did seem to help the teenager's mentality.
Now, Gilbert has spoken about his work with the US Open champion. As well as confirming...

Andy Roddick jokingly accused Andre Agassi of cheating on him after picking his wife, Steffi Graf, up for the second edition of the Pickleball Slam next year.
The event the former greats are set to play is not a tennis event but a pickleball exhibition. Last year, the first edition of the Pickleball Slam was played between former tennis players Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Michael Chang, and John McEnroe.
It proved a huge success as many people tuned in and we will get a second edition. It's named in the same way the first one was named - Pickleball Slam with just the two added to signal the second edition.
The participants will be similar as Agassi will be returning, but he'll play with his wife, Steffi Graf, as opposed to Andy Roddick.

How does this budget-friendly Babolat polyester stack up to its better-selling sibling, Rpm Blast?
Rpm Hurricane was formerly known as Pro Hurricane Tour, a string that in fact pre-dated Rpm Blast. This string was popular amongst amateurs and professionals alike, particularly in the 2000s, with Babolat Pure Drive spokesperson Andy Roddick perhaps being the most notable.
Interestingly, while Rafael Nadal was reported to be endorsing Pro Hurricane Tour at the time, he was likely using a far older Babolat String from the 1990s: Duralast. However, it’s worth noting some examples of Nadal’s personal rackets from the late 2000s, which were some of his most successful season on the Atp Tour, were strung with what appeared to be Pro Hurricane Tour.
On the surface, Rpm Hurricane doesn’t seem vastly different to Rpm Blast. Both are low-powered polyesters of the same line, with the same focus on control and even the same octagonal shape.

In the ever-evolving world of tennis, rackets have played a crucial role in the sport's development, but five can be called "the most iconic."
Over the last two decades, several racket models have been introduced, with many getting a lot of popularity and recognition, influencing styles of play. However, only a few remained popular throughout the years, and we'll take a look at five of the most iconic tennis rackets of the 2000s.
5. Prince O3 White
One the most striking racket technologies of the last 20 years, O3 was developed by Prince to provide greater power and stability to the player, by incorporating large ports into the racket frame to increase string movement.
The result was a series of powerful, forgiving rackets with lively feel, and the most iconic of the series was perhaps the O3 white endorsed by Maria Sharapova. Interestingly, former world number four James Blake worked with Prince to develop O3 rackets,...

Coco Gauff showed the tennis world her true potential in 2023, but she's yet to dominate the game as many expect her to.
When the young American showed her potential to everyone at Wimbledon four years ago as a 15-year-old, huge predictions started to appear, and many went as far as comparing her to Serena Williams.
So far, she's yet to come close to those heights, but it can still be possible, mainly because Gauff already tasted major success in 2023, and with the next season ahead of us, she can go even a step further.
First of all, it's important to avoid having big expectations from Gauff. She's still only 19, and even if 2024 wouldn't be her major breakthrough year, there are still many seasons on the Wta Tour left in her career.
But already in 2023, she showed that she's ready for stardom, and in 2024, she can rise to it, and she...

Coco Gauff is a very hard worker, and that's what's going to make her great, according to famous coach Rick Macci.
Macci has seen some big workers in his career, having coached Serena and Venus Williams, and some other prominent players such as Maria Sharapova and Andy Roddick. He knows a hard worker when he sees one, and Gauff is certainly one of those.
It's always been like that and got her to where she is right now. Gauff didn't even take a lot of time off during the offseason, being already back in the lab working on her tennis.
Ultimately, being willing to put in the work matters most. The sport evolves, your competition evolves, and you will get overrun if you can't or won't keep up.
Macci has no worries when it comes to Gauff, as he revealed in an exclusive talk with Tennis Infinity, and it's why she's destined for greatness.

Former Atp player Younes El Aynaoui deems Rafael Nadal the "greatest of all time" as opposed to Novak Djokovic, which is an interesting claim.
The Goat debate will never go away unless Djokovic builds such a compelling case that you can't deny that he's the one. Some think he's there, and some think he'll get there, but for former world no. 14, Younes El Aynaoui, he'll never be there.
The Moroccan player was once a very good tennis player. He was a bit of a late bloomer, getting to his career-high ranking of 14 at the age of 32 back in 2003. The same year, El Aynaoui played one of the most iconic matches at the Australian Open.
It was a match against Andy Roddick that lasted 4 hours and 59 minutes, with the final set score being 21-19. Roddick won that match but will forever remembered as just one of those matches. So he knows...

Ben Shelton was a breath of fresh air in his first full season on the Atp Tour, and he was pumped right from the first ball.
Shelton's rise was sporadic, but it had plenty of learning lessons, which Andy Roddick so perfectly summed up when assessing his 2023 season. Shelton was ranked as low as 96th when he rubberstamped his passport for the first time in his life to play tennis tournaments outside the USA.
With his father as his right-hand man, the season didn't begin on a high note, with two defeats in his first three matches. But a compelling Australian Open in which he reached the quarterfinals was the grandest and most appropriate way possible to announce his name.
As far as introductions go, it is tough to dispute Shelton was the Atp Newcomer of the Year in 2023. Here's why:
Year-End Ranking: 17th
Overall, it was a rollercoaster year for American men's tennis.

Andy Roddick is tipping fellow American Ben Shelton to continue his electric rise on the men's tour in 2024, in what he believes will be another learning season.
Shelton turned pro in late 2022 finishing that year by winning three straight Atp Challenger titles and debuting in the world's Top 100. It was also during that time period when he chose to pause his college studies before shifting online and focusing on his tennis career.
That decision paid dividends almost instantly. Shelton, playing in his first Grand Slam tournament outside U.S. soil would reach the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. For many youngsters, this would have been a case of baptism by fire, not Shelton who was armed with one of the most devastating serves in men's tennis.

Coco Gauff is set for a really big year next year, and according to former Atp player Andy Roddick, she will be gunning to number one in the rankings on the Wta Tour.
Iga Swiatek has spent much of this year as the world number one player, even though Aryna Sabalenka dethroned her for a while. The Wta Finals triumph of the Polish player returned her to number one, but next year's battle will be quite interesting.
There is Swiatek, who will be in the mix. Sabalenka should be good. Rybakina and, of course, Gauff could do some damage. According to former player Andy Roddick, Gauff is the player to watch, especially her matchup with Swiatek. He laid out his view of the situation in his most recent column for Betway.

Carlos Alcaraz didn't have the best of weeks at the 2023 Atp Finals in Turin despite making the semi-finals, but he's going to be dangerous in Melbourne, according to Andy Roddick.
Alcaraz played a solid event in Turin but was far from his best. That's the most scary bit about it: he was able to make the semi-finals against the tennis elite despite not playing his best.
The surface didn't really play into his strengths, but according to former Atp world no. 1 Andy Roddick, that will be the case at the 2024 Australian Open in Melbourne.
It's going to be a very interesting showdown between Novak Djokovic and Alcaraz Down Under, as the Spaniard missed last year's event due to injury.
We could get some epic match between the two, which we've been missing for a while. Their match in Turin disappointed greatly as Alcaraz couldn't really do anything against his opponent.

Jannik Sinner has made tremendous progress this year, and according to former Atp world no. 1, Andy Roddick, he graduated to a Top 4 player.
Sinner has been playing really good tennis for a while now. He had a really solid start to the year with some amazing performances. It continued throughout the year with his maiden Atp 1000 trophy and a couple of more.
He won the China Open, he won the Vienna Open and he then had a really good run at the 2023 Atp Finals in Turin, losing in the final to Novak Djokovic. It was an amazing week for the Italian, and proof that he's really among the elite players right now.

It's been a very long time since we saw Raducanu on a tennis court. She underwent triple surgery earlier this year to address some of the issues that were plaguing her, and since then, it's been rehab time.
There was speculation about her possibly returning at the start of December at an exhibition in Macau, but she dropped those plans. With that, her return will likely only happen in Australia a month later, which is a good plan, according to former player Andy Roddick.
The American doesn't like such an early exhibition event because it could throw the Brit's offseason plans. We've seen how unconventional approaches to tennis offseason can have a huge negative impact on a player.

Andy Roddick had some very nice parting words for Nick Kyrgios as they wrapped up the Atp Finals coverage for the Tennis Channel.
Roddick has been working as an analyst for the Tennis Channel for a very long time; however, this week was a particular delight for him as the team welcomed Nick Kyrgios.
The Australian did fairly well even though some growing pains were involved initially. Kyrgios served as both an in-studio analyst as well a match commentator, which was an interesting experience for him.
At the end of the week, former Atp world no. 1 Roddick had some very nice words for Kyrgios, though he admitted he prefers the Australian on a tennis court as opposed to a studio.
I'm in the minority here but I don't want to see him back at the Tennis Channel desk here because I'd rather see him on the court, doing his thing,...

Novak Djokovic was the clear favorite for winning the 2024 Australian Open by the Tennis Channel panel consisting of Nick Kyrgios and Andy Roddick.
Novak Djokovic just won the 2023 Atp Finals by beating Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in back-to-back matches. It was a wonderful week for the Serbian in Turin as he continued to play amazing tennis and showed no signs of slowing down.
The closing thoughts of the Tennis Channel panel on that was to ask whether Djokovic will get to number 25 at the Australian Open. He won the event the previous year and has dominated there for years. Former Atp player Andy Roddick made a boring prediction that Djokovic would win the event once more.
This is my boring prediction again. I'm just going to keep doing it. I said 3 days ago, I'm jsut not going to bet against Novak Djokovic. Listen, it doesn't mean I don't believe...

Ben Shelton generated a lot of buzz this year, and he's among those Andy Roddick could see winning a Grand Slam title.
Roddick is uniquely qualified to talk about this because he's the last American who actually won a Grand Slam trophy for his team. It happened a very long time ago, in 2003, so the drought has been real. The United States just had a Grand Slam champion in Coco Gauff, and now they want to see a man do it.
There are plenty of candidates, such as Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, and others, but for Roddick, who spoke to the Tennis Channel, Shelton seems to have that upside, reminding him of Nick Kyrgios.
He's a player who's going to be very dominant on his serve, which should give him a pretty good chance at several events. He made the semi-final at the US Open, pushing Djokovic pretty well.

Novak Djokovic made some interesting comments after his last Atp Finals match, which Tennis Channel analyst Andy Roddick broke down.
Roddick knows Djokovic pretty well from their time on the Atp Tour together. The American certainly knows how Djokovic approaches things, which he shared during a segment on the Tennis Channel dedicated to Djokovic's comments after his win over Hubert Hurkacz.
At that time, he didn't know whether he was through to the semi-finals because a win by Holger Rune would have sent him home. Rune couldn't win his match as Sinner proved better in three sets.
Earlier in the day, Djokovic hinted at not caring about the result of that match, which seemed strange as his fate directly depended on it. Roddick attempted to break down what it meant.
Yeah I don't think Novak [Djokovic] meant that he didn't care about the result from the match, I think he meant like,...

Nick Kyrgios is known for the occasional outburst, so when he calls an outburst crazy, then you know he means it.
Player outbursts are nothing new in tennis, and they're not particularly a 21st-century phenomenon either. We had some pretty big hotheads in the past, like John McEnroe, who might actually be the biggest hothead we ever had in tennis.
Whether it's Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, or Kyrgios, outbursts are common. Andrey Rublev, though has a particular way he likes to do. It's often pretty aggressive, which shows the level of frustration he feels at the moment.
It's not something he's particularly proud of, and he shouldn't. He bled once more as he cracked open his knee in the match against Carlos Alcaraz at the 2023 Atp Finals, which he eventually lost.
He tends to release emotion towards his knee, and it bleeds frequently when it happens. Kyrgios, who...

Andy Roddick had some comments about Stefanos Tsitsipas following his withdrawal from the 2023 Atp Finals, disagreeing with both his comment and his approach to the event.
First of all, the week started with Tsitsipas commenting on winning the Atp Finals being as equal or even better than winning a Grand Slam. He found plenty of people disagreeing with him, and Andy Roddick is one of them.
He totally disagrees with his comment sharing his view on it during an appearance on the Tennis Channel.
I know he said something ridiculous this week about how this is bigger than a Slam if you win it. I 1000% fully disagree and I don't even think he believes what he said but I would've had an eye on next year, especially if you're nursing multiple injuries.

If you've been watching this year's Atp Finals, you would easily notice the absence of American players in the eight-man cohort for the year-end championships.
Historically, the Atp Finals have not been a staple for the American men for over two decades. 14-time Grand Slam champion Pete Sampras remains the country's last winner, back in 1999. Former World No. 4 James Blake remains the last player to contest a final, back in 2006.
Taylor Frtiz qualified last year for the first time in his career and was knocked out in the semifinal stage. In spite of being one of the most dominant nations in the Top 50, with as many seven players, not a single one of them earned a ticket for this year's showpiece event.
Fritz looked like the closest player to qualifying again until an abdominal injury at a crucial juncture stopped him in his tracks. He missed the cut-off points by a very small margin.

Tennis is a pretty lucrative sport if you can get to the top, and Andrey Rublev proved it yet again by passing $20 million in career earnings.
The Russian is one of the best players in the world and has been for a few years now. He's just secured another Top 10 finish and will play at the Atp Finals once more.
It's going to be his fourth time at the event, proving that he's been Top 8 for a fourth consecutive year. He's also won a couple of trophies along the way, 14 to be precise, some of which have been huge, like the Masters he won earlier this year.
As the sport exploded in popularity over the years, so did the earnings increase. There were plenty of great players in the past. However, the prize money wasn't as good as it's now, which is they the top earners list is mostly dominated...

Since Novak Djokovic became World No. 1 for the first time 12 years ago, he has rendered almost every tennis record irrelevant in that timespan and potentially in the unforeseeable future.
Djokovic has reduced the accomplishments from some of the most illustrious names to have ever picked up a racket to just a mere stat sheet. This week, he kicks off a mind-boggling 397th week as the Atp 's No. 1. Djokovic has now reigned at the top of the men's rankings as many times as 18 former Atp No. 1s.
The list features retired greats like Stefan Edberg, Carlos Moya, Jim Courier, Gustavo Kuerten, Boris Becker, and Andy Roddick to the current roster of active players that includes Andy Murray, Daniil Medvedev and even Carlos Alcaraz.

Sebastian Korda has become the first-ever American to reach the Shanghai Masters semi-final, which is quite a stat.
Plenty of legendary American players have played in the past, but it mostly comes down to the fact that the Shanghai Masters is not a longstanding event. It was played for the first time only in 2009, so the list of great American players is much shorter than the full list of American legends.
Korda bested performances by Andy Roddick and Jack Sock, two really good players, especially the former, who was number one in the world as well as Grand Slam champion in singles, compared to Sock, who has a few Grand Slam doubles trophies.
Both of them only made it to the quarter-finals, Roddick in 2011 and Sock in 2016, which makes Korda's run to the semi-final the best run by an American at the Atp 1000 event in Shanghai. Funnily enough, he faced...

Rick Macci is one of the people who knows Serena Williams ' tennis journey the best, and he spoke about it recently.
The noted coach worked with many great players, such as Andy Roddick and both Serena Williams and Venus Williams. He watched the sisters blossom into one of the best players to ever hold a racquet, and he had something to do with it.
His coaching pedigree is still widely respected, with Coco Gauff naming him as one of the people she might work with to 'fix' her forehand . The legendary American coach was contacted by the Atp for an interview and shared some interesting facts about Serena Williams when she was much younger. According to Macci, Williams wasn't that good at ten but had all that was needed to become great.

Coco Gauff just won her maiden Grand Slam trophy, but she's backed by many to win a few more in the coming years.
One of those who is predicting a very bright future for Gauff is fellow American and fellow player Shelby Rogers . She knows Gauff fairly well due to playing on the Wta Tour with her, but also because they come from the same country.
Rogers always believed Gauff had what it takes, though you didn't need to be a tennis pro to understand that. She had future superstar written all over her even as a teenager, and while she's technically still one, she's a far more advanced player by now. The maturation and growth have been awesome to see, according to Rogers.

Coco Gauff has the potential to win multiple Grand Slams due to a level field at the top of the Wta , according to Andy Roddick .
Gauff's incredible recent form reached the pinnacle at the US Open when she came back from a set down to defeat world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the final. The win at Flushing Meadows, following successive title victories at the Citi Open and Cincinnati Masters, helped the 19-year-old break into the Wta top three , which has recently been occupied by Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina.
Ultimately, Gauff's rise has the potential to create a new era for the elite level of women's tennis, which could be ultra-competitive in the coming years. When talking to Betway and reflecting on Gauff's success, former US Open champion Roddick feels that the lack of one dominant player in the Wta opens the door for players like Gauff trying to break in.

According to former world number one Andy Roddick , Novak Djokovic is the best athlete on planet Earth right now.
Being one of the best athletes in the world is certainly something Andy Roddick knows about. At one point in his life, he could have counted himself among them because he was a US Open champion and a world number one on the Atp Tour.
Novak Djokovic is both of those things right now, winning the Grand Slam not even a week ago and becoming world number one . Roddick talked a bit about Djokovic in his most recent Betway Column, calling him the best athlete in the world right now.
The dominance of Novak and the way that he’s able to win this consistently is just absurd. He’s probably the most reliable player that we’ve ever had in the game. I wouldn’t bet against him on any given day,...

New York, Sep 4 (Ians) After surviving a scare two nights ago in his five-set comeback win in Round 3, Novak Djokovic snuffed out a spirited challenge from big-hitting Croatian qualifier Borna Gojo 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 to reach his 57th Grand Slam quarterfinal.
The chase for Grand Slam No. 24 continues for three-time US Open titlist Djokovic, who extends his 2023 Grand Slam record to 24-1.
The Serb’s fourth-round win on Sunday ushers in his 13th US Open quarterfinal appearance, tying him with Andre Agassi and Roger Federer for second-most behind Ivan Lendl’s 17.
The 23-time major champion, who will reclaim No. 1 in the Atp Rankings on September 11 for a record-extending 390th week regardless of his ultimate result in New York, will meet top-ranked American Taylor Fritz on Tuesday.

Former Atp No. 1 Mats Wilander gave a fascinating insight into the influence that celebrated American coach Brad Gilbert has had on Coco Gauff 's explosive form during the US swing.
After losing her first-round match at this year's Wimbledon , Gauff was under massive pressure to ditch her parents' advice in favor of outside counsel as part of her coaching team. At the start of the US swing, that certainly to be the case, where Gauff called on the services of Gilbert , who has previously coached some of tennis' iconic names.
In addition to her full-time coach Pere Riba, whom Gauff appointed earlier in June to replace Diego Moyano, Gilbert was sought after by the 19-year-old on a trial basis, and the impact has been instantaneous. Gauff won the two biggest titles of her career this month, including a Wta 1000 in Cincinnati .

John Isner will play his last professional tournament on the Atp Tour at Flushing Meadows, competing at the 2023 US Open .
Some stories start, others come to an end, and while the story of a possible Hall of Famer, Carlos Alcaraz, is just starting , the career of one of the most successful Americans of the past generation is ending.
The United States of America has been used to having successful tennis players for a very long time. From Jimmy Connors to John McEnroe, to Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, there were many legendary tennis players born in the States.
In 2003, Andy Roddick was the last male American to win a Grand Slam title, and now it's twenty years since that happened. And while there was no one to replace the many successful generations in terms of winning majors, there was one player that certainly held the flag really high.

Andy Roddick doesn't think that Carlos Alcaraz will be worried about expectations at the US Open following his last year's triumph.
Carlos Alcaraz wants to win trophies, and he's won a couple of them this year. One was especially meaningful as he won his maiden Wimbledon by beating Novak Djokovic in the final. It surprised Alcaraz and many others who could not picture a scenario where the Spaniard would lift the trophy in London.
Andy Roddick was one of those, as he admitted in his BetWay column. He fully expected Djokovic to win Wimbledon and then go for the calendar slam in New York. We've seen that already in 2021, but he didn't get it done, as Medvedev proved too strong.
I assumed we were going to be watching Novak go for the calendar year Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows. If anything, I thought Carlos Alcaraz might sneak one at Roland Garros,...

Andy Roddick leaped into the defense of Carlos Alcaraz and said any potential criticism regarding his physical skills are uncalled for.
Roddick spoke to Tennis Channel in the aftermath of one of the greatest Atp Masters 1000 finals in history in which Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz traded hellfire from the baseline for close to four hours, and when the sun went down, and everyone inside the stadium breathed out, Djokovic outlasted his younger rival 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters .
It was a record-extending 39th Masters title for Djokovic who once again defied the odds and the playing conditions to eke out a hard-fought and gutsy win . Roddick stated that Djokovic's game got better as the match wore on and it approached dusk.
Roddick further pointed out that any potential criticism Alcaraz might face is unjustified as he compared how Djokovic, one of the epitome of tennis greatness, wasn't...

Former Atp No. 1 Andy Roddick called Novak Djokovic an absolute specimen after being left in amazement at the Serbian's improbable comeback in Sunday's Cincinnati Masters final.
Djokovic looked dead in the water just over an hour into the contest, as his early pace-setting form quickly dissipated in stifling conditions under the Ohio sun. And Roddick, who was among many fans that wrote off Djokovic's chances after falling a set and a break down, did not anticipate the comeback .
Roddick believes Djokovic's powers of recovery are next to none, calling him 'an absolute specimen' and saying that it is unfathomable to do it at 36 against such a valiant and energetic young opponent across the other side of the net.
Djokovic manifested signs of life late in the second set when he broke back, with Roddick attributing to the sunset being a key factor in the turnaround. A section of fans called...

Eugenie Bouchard reacted on social media to the American amateur tennis players believing they could win games against professional tennis players.
Any sports, when done correctly, looks pretty easy from the comforts of your home. Tennis is no exception, yet if you've ever stood on a tennis court, you'll notice that it's pretty big and going from one side to the other becomes very exhausting.
Even so, there are plenty of amateur players in the US who believe they could hold their own against a professional tennis player. The graphic was brought up during a segment with Andy Roddick and Andrea Petkovic on the Tennis Channel, and it left them both in stitches.
71 % of all those questioned believed they could win a game against a professional player. 82 % of those that said yes were between the ages of 18-24. It's not specific to only young amateur players because 47 % of those over...

Andy Roddick has been talking about tennis a lot lately, using his vast experience to provide insight on various things.
Roddick has been doing it through various platforms, most notably the Tennis Channel, where he served as an occasional analyst. The former player joined Betway as their global tennis ambassador, and he'll share his thoughts on all the biggest tournaments and matches through the platform.
He's been very impressed with Carlos Alcaraz and what he managed to do recently, writing down his thoughts about the Spaniard's Wimbledon triumph for Betway. The result of that match wasn't just surprising to Roddick, who played in a Wimbledon final himself but more like shocking.
I was shocked by the result of the men’s Wimbledon final. Two months ago, I don’t think anyone would have predicted Novak being beaten on grass. His dominance on the surface over the last 10 years has actually been underreported,...
