Riverdale Season 6 Episode 3
“If Rivervale is the final battleground between good and evil, is anybody’s soul safe?”
With just two more episodes until the “Rivervale” experiment concludes, it is safe to say that the writers have perfectly utilized this break from their, what I will laughingly refer to as “traditional” storytelling, to completely revitalize the series creatively. Three weeks into the show’s sixth season and Riverdale is the most entertaining it has ever been — no small feat given that it accomplished this without its main character or usual narrative structure.
And all it took was taking the show to hell.
This latest episode was structured around the mysterious Lou Cypher (Oliver Rice), who arrives in Rivervale with a list of souls he instead to claim. He also intends on destroying the symbolic soul of the town by razing Pop Tate’s Chok’lit Shop,...

New Pretty Boy Poster and Photos: "Pretty Boy, the follow up to the award-winning film Blind, has completed principal photography. Pretty Boy, directed by Marcel Walz and written by Joe Knetter, continues the story they set in motion in Blind.
Pretty Boy just finished the Post Production with Company 3
Marcel Walz (Director)
“Filming Pretty Boy the way we did was a dream comes true for me. It is beautiful, fun, gory and creepy. Seeing our Killer, “Pretty Boy”, slashing through this love letter to the 80s is what I have always wanted to do! Also, as an LGBTQ Director, I could go crazy on set design for the Valentine’s party and overall theme in the movie, so be prepared for a lot of pinks, glitter and some intestines Lol!“
Joe Knetter (Writer)
“Filming Pretty Boy was an amazing experience. Every single person on the cast and crew brought their ‘A’ game.

Leading up to this season, the cast and crew of Riverdale has made it a point to state that, despite the arrival of cults and Gargoyle Kings and mysterious teens who can apparently inflict seizures upon their classmates, that the show is not getting supernatural.
Uh huh, sure you aren't.
Even if sister series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina weren't debuting next Friday, it wouldn't be difficult to refute this claim. But given tonight's developments, it seems impossible.
Let's begin with the the new big bad of the season, the Gargoyle King. If you ever find yourself bored by Twitter, avail yourself of the extensive critique of a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner by a pretend dog. The farcical account @doggeaux went on a tear Monday, accusing conservative cartoonist Michael Ramirez of doing far, far too many comics that feature scary things — from clouds to tidal waves to hurricanes — representing the concept of “debt.” Michael Ramirez’s Twitter bio describes him as “a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Reuben winner and Nationally syndicated Editorial cartoonist with Creators.” Ramirez won his Pulitzers in 1994 and 2008. Andy Warhol was nothing if not a multi-media maven. Along with his ubiquitous silkscreens and sculpture, he embraced movie-making beginning as early as 1963 with such literal-minded efforts as Haircut (a haircut) and Taylor Mead’s Ass (one hour of exactly what you think) and pretty much closed shop with 1968’s Lonesome Cowboys, a 109 minute western satire that, of all his films, came closest to approximating a traditional tinseltown production.
Essentially Warhol was parodying the Hollywood studio system, rounding up his acolytes and hangers-on, from supermodels to pushers, and casting them as regular performers in a series of deadpan documentaries. Meanwhile in the wilds of Baltimore, Warhol fan John Waters...

Sue Jeiven is a tiny, ebullient woman. That’s probably the first thing you notice about her. She radiates energy, excitement — all of those “e” words. Actually, the tattoos are the first thing you notice about her. She’s quite literally covered; all the standard places, sure, but also her fingers, palms and face — three tiny dots in a triangle by her right eye. It’s likely she’s also wearing Mr. T amounts of gold chains and some leopard print. An astoundingly talented tattoo artist, Sue works at East River Tattoo in Brooklyn and regularly makes the list of...

In The Overlook, A.V. Club film critic Ignatiy Vishnevetsky examines the misfits, underappreciated gems, and underseen classics of film history.
It was a buddy who collected film prints of 1970s hardcore porn—a real specialist, a historian—that introduced me to A Thief In The Night, the greatest evangelical end-times scare flick ever made. Or maybe it was my friend who owned the video store. We all lived in the same building then (next to the video store, as a matter of fact), and these sorts of discoveries tended to spread and dissipate quickly, like the smoke, cooking, and pet smells that seeped into the dingy stairwell from our apartment doors. I think we all knew the howling live-action Jack Chick tract If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?, the first of several movies made by the exploitation director Ron Ormond for Estus Pirkle, an unhinged preacher from...

If you have spent enough time in the Christian church, then you have comes across Chick Tracts. They are small, booklet-sized comics written and illustrated by Jack Chick. They are about as fundamentalist, right wing and white pinko as the Church can get, the Westboro of comic book literature. And they are unintentionally hilarious, too. I had a roommate in college who collected them, and during timeouts studying real Theology, we would marvel at their brashness. And if you were coming of age in the 80s, you also came across scare media events; dragged to our churches to watch videos about the evils of heavy metal and Dungeons & Dragons. They were, after all, gateways to Hell. In that heyday, Jack Chick made one of his...

This is the trailer to a movie called Dark Dungeons, which is based on the 1984 Christian comic by Jack Chick. The story points out all of the evil dangers of RPG's (Role Playing Games). Yes, some people believe that playing Dungeons and Dragons is a road straight to hell! Zombie Orpheus Entertainment bought the rights to the comic and turned it into a feature film. Here's the first trailer for the indie film that was funded through Kickstarter. Check out the synopsis:
Debbie and Marcie arrive at college unaware of the dangers of RPGing. They are soon indoctrinated into this dangerous lifestyle where they face the threat of learning real life magical powers, being invited to join a witches' coven, and resisting the lure of Ms. Frost, a vile temptress of a Gm. But what peril must the two friends face when they stumble across the Necronomicon and their fantasy game becomes a reality game?...

One of the few good things about people who are bonkers and publicly proud of it is that you can make fun of them and they don’t even realize that’s what you’re doing. And so we have this upcoming film from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, who’ve made a bunch of movies about RPGs and gaming and general dorkness. It’s an adaptation of the 1984 gospel tract from the infamous Jack Chick, who believes that role-playing games are Satanic and involve real magic spells. This is what the film is about:
Dark Dungeons brings Jack Chick’s 1984 masterpiece to the silver screen. Debbie and Marcie arrive at college unaware of the dangers of RPGing. Time for another installment in our guest blog series in which Dark Horse Comics Editor-in-Chief Scott Allie interviews some of the best and most prolific contributors to the horror genre. On tap today we have the multiple Eisner Award winning colorist Dave Stewart.
Scott Allie: You color all the Mike Mignola books, as many as three a month, and Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ Fatale for Image. That’s a significant portion of the horror comics on the market. Do you feel an affinity for the horror genre?
Dave Stewart: There is something really fun about giving people the willies. I really enjoy good horror. There’s nothing like coloring the perfect creepy mood or a nice gory monster.
Sa: Why do you think you and Mignola clicked so well? You, his wife, and I are his longest lasting relationships.
DS: Well, I think I’ve always been willing...

The Westboro Baptist Church is a malignant and cancerous offshoot disowned by any Christian organization fit to show its face in public. It's the sort of inverted theology that manages to twist "turn the other cheek" into a euphemism for telling people to kiss your ass. They're quite frankly abominable human beings, who have twisted every essential message of love in their religion of choice into a commandment of judgment and hatred. One of their most enduring trademarks has been the protesting of the funerals of individuals with whom they disagree. The infamous "God Hates Fags" signs made their appearance outside the funerals of as varied a list of individuals as Mr. Rogers, Matthew Shepard and Iraq War veterans. The organization is hardly even an organization so much as a particularly malicious island of a family. Its membership is little more than the extended family of Fred Phelps, the aging...

You know, religious cinema doesn’t have to be bad. There have been a great number of excellent Christian movies over the years, and a number of the most renowned directors in the history of film itself have been explicitly Christian in their intent. This is, however, something that Americans, by and large, have not been able to figure out, and Preacher’s Kid is yet another casualty on this field of battle. Despite every indication that the film is sincere in its aims, it is not the least bit affecting, nor does it open itself up to allow for people who don’t already share its very precise view of the world to engage in the experience at all.
Angie (Letoya Luckett, one of the original members of Destiny’s Child) is an exceptionally talented singer, but the only opportunity she gets to do so is at the church where her father preaches.
