Jared Leto has accepted a new role as Chief Creative Officer for the niche subscription streaming service Fandor. The company offers cinephiles a carefully curated selection not found on bigger streamers like Netflix or Hulu, with a focus on indies, genre classics, documentaries, and foreign films. In addition to the streaming platform, Fandor also maintains an editorial side to the site, offering critical analyses and video essays. The announcement comes after a concerted effort by the site to shift towards the mainstream that began with closing down Keyframe, Fandor’s 5-year-old online magazine.

Fandor, the indie and international cinema streaming platform, is turning a new page — and “for better or worse, the new strategy is not for everyone,” admitted Fandor CEO Larry Aidem.
Earlier this week, the company closed Keyframe, its 5-year-old digital magazine, and two of its longtime staffers left the company: editorial director Jonathan Kiefer and David Hudson, who ran Keyframe Daily and whom, in his recent New York Times profile of Fandor, Glenn Kenny praised as a “great asset.”
“When I started at Fandor in 2012, and for several years afterwards, we were a good match, what with our shared sense of cinephilia and appreciation for timeliness,” Hudson said. “As Fandor evolves, its editorial focus is changing, and at this point, it’s best for me and the company to amicably part ways. I truly wish them well and hope that they achieve the growth they’re after.”

“Film to Table” has been journeying through some of the great culinary dishes in film the last few weeks, recreating dishes from “Tompopo” and Jon Favreau’s “Chef.” This week, host and chef Jason Roberts is joined by comedian Brian Unger, as they cook up an Italian pasta dish made famous by Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas.”

“Goodfellas” is considered by many to not only be one of Scorsese’s best films, but also one of the great cinematic achievements of all time. While cooking the meal, consisting of spaghetti and meatballs, Roberts and Unger discuss how food becomes such a pivotal element of the film, becoming a dual symbol representing two of the biggest themes found in Henry Hill’s (Ray Liotta) tale: family and power.

It’s physically impossible to watch Jon Favreau’s 2014 film “Chef” and not want to immediately want to eat every single meal shown on screen. Thanks to L/Studio’s new show “Film to Table,” you can learn exactly how to make the Cubano Sandwich Favreau’s food truck cooks up in the movie.

Jason Roberts, joined by chef Travis Flood, recreates the delicious film meal in the short five minute episode. Obviously “Chef” shows Favreau and John Leguizamo cooking up the dish fast, but Roberts and Flood slow it down to show exactly how to make the mouth-watering meal.
The two chefs also aren’t shy about expressing their love for the film, which follows Favreau’s character attempting to make it on his own in the food truck business after he quits his restaurant job.

Production company Annapurna Pictures announced on Thursday, December 1, that it is expanding its operations with the addition of the division Annapurna Interactive, which will be devoted to producing and publishing video games.
“I’ve had a great passion for video games for as long as I can remember. Growing up, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ was one of my all-time favorites. My brother and I ran up quite a bill calling the 1-900 numbers for tips on those games, before the internet provided game-guides,” said Megan Ellison, Annapurna’s founder and CEO, in a statement. “The artistry and diversity of interactive storytelling is exciting and we look forward to exploring the limitless possibilities in gaming. We want to empower artists across this medium to make Annapurna Interactive their home and I believe we’ve assembled the perfect team to make that happen.”

Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures announced the development on Thursday.
Annapurna Interactive will focus on developing “personal, emotional, and original games that push the boundaries of interactive content and encourage artists to bring new visions to the medium.”
The company is lining up to publish two games in spring: Jason Roberts’ Gorogoa is a hand-illustrated story suspended inside a puzzle that requires the player to move panels on a grid as though arranging framed drawings on a wall.
What Remains Of Edith Finch, developed by Giant Sparrow, is a playable collection of short stories, each with different artistic styles and gameplay centred on the cursed Finch family.
Annapurna Interactive will also release games from acclaimed industry talents including San Francisco-based developer Funomena and creative director Keita Takahashi, creator of the Katamari Damacy franchise, and Mountains, which is led by Ken Wong, best known for his work on Monument Valley.

The director general unveiled the package of measures in a speech at Elstree Studios on Friday, where he said “it’s time for action” on diversity. It follows the issue being thrust to the forefront of the broadcasting agenda over the past 12 months.
As well as the £2.1m Diversity Creative Talent Fund, the BBC has created two leadership development programmes, introduced new staff diversity targets and an intern scheme. Hall will also create an independent board to keep the BBC’s progress in check.

The BBC has announced a new strategy to improve the representation of ethnic minorities at the corporation.
Director general Tony Hall unveiled the proposals at the set of EastEnders in Elstree on Friday (June 20).
The plans include a new executive development scheme and a commissioning fund, while more training internships for black, Asian and minority ethnic (Bame) graduate trainees will be introduced.

With a festival of football about to take over your TV screens for the summer, we caught up with the BBC pundits and presenters heading out to Brazil to ask the big questions.
Who is going to win it? Are England doomed? And what on earth do we do if it goes to penalties?
England's chances?
Things don't look too cheery for Roy's boys. Getting out of the group stage is being treated as a major achievement, and even getting that far is being too optimistic for some of the pundits.
Mark Chapman: "I can't see them getting out of the group. I don't know if that makes me pessimistic, realistic or what. I just can't seem them getting past Uruguay. Thankfully, I think fans are more realistic and the media are being more realistic this time. We haven't seen any England players wrapped in the St George's flag saying...

Every year, the Independent Games Festival gathers hundreds of indie games to play, judge, and recognize. Not only are they providing gamers the invaluable service of finding the hidden masterpieces that are released every year, but they also bring awareness to the gems that deserve to be played.
This year the over 650 entrants were distributed to 375 judges to be evaluated for each category like Excellence in Visual Art, Narrative, or Design. 650 is far more entries than they have had in years past, showing the obvious growth of the “indie gaming market” in recent years.
The winners will be announced on March 19th at the Game Developers Conference 2014, where the winners of each category will receive prize moneys (up to $30k for the grand prize), an immense amount of recognition, and even a deal with Valve for Steam distribution (if they wish). Nottingham Forest vs Reading
Friday, 29 November 2013
City Ground, Nottingham
Kick-off: 19:45 GMT
Referee: Stuart Attwell
Reading travel to Nottingham Forest on Friday knowing a win would take them above their opponents and into the SkyBet Championship playoff places ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
The Royals come to the City Ground without a win in four matches and an away record of just two points from their last 12, however. Nigel Adkins’s outfit have only gone back to Berkshire with all three points from one of their last five visits to Nottingham.
Hosts Forest meanwhile can temporarily climb a place to fourth with a point or better. Billy Davies’s side are buoyed by a recent victory at East Midlands rivals Leicester City and a battling draw with table toppers Burnley last time out.

When the 2012/2013 Premier League season fixtures were announced, many fans started their careers as Mystic Meg replacements. Who would win the League? Who would go down? Many said Reading were in there ‘doomed’ three. Written off before the season had been played out and I’m sorry to say to Reading fans for good reason. I have nothing against Reading and I really enjoyed watching their run in the Championship under Brian McDermott, whom I respect as a Manager; although I do believe they were doomed from the outset.
When Reading were promoted from the Championship, it’d be fair to say that a surge of wins got them there. They were rated at 12/1 to be promoted, not win the Championship but for promotion. The Bookies thought that West Ham, Leicester & Birmingham were better bets for promotion. So in reality, they were outside the ‘main’ three teams of who the bookies thought would go up.

Reading vs Arsenal live…
The starting line-ups have been announced for tonight’s crucial game for two managers who desperately need a victory in the Barclays Premier League. Brian McDermott’s Reading are rock bottom of the Premier League with only one win to their name all season, whilst Arsene Wenger needs to put a string of victories together to halt those calling for his head.
The big news for the latter is that England winger and Arsenal contract rebel Theo Walcott not only starts, but seems to be starting through the middle for The Gunners. He had been a doubt with a calf complaint. Under-fire attacker Gervinho has to settle for a place on the bench alongside Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud, the latter recovering from a back strain he picked up in last week’s League Cup Quarter Final defeat against Bradford. Laurent Koscielny also overcomes his thigh injury to make the bench.

"The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow" is a walk-through attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios that will allow guests to follow in the footsteps of Jack Sparrow to see if they have what it takes to join his rowdy and daring pirate crew. In this video from Walt Disney Imagineering, Imagineers Jason Surrell, Laura Mitchell, Charita Carter and Jason Roberts take us behind the scenes of the making of this new experience. According to them, creating an entirely new attraction based on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film franchise was a dream come true, as was working with the film's lead actor, Johnny Depp, who reprised his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the attraction's film elements.

This fixture was last played four years ago in the Premier League. Villa won 3-1 thanks to a John Carew brace. And what we wouldn’t have given for more than one goal as both teams played very poor football in what was a boring match. Neither Reading nor Aston Villa would look out of place in the championship as both squads have little quality and are built on defensive stability. One of the best players on the park, however, was Villa frontman Christian Benteke. His 80th minute header was the difference between the two sides and he showed that he is a class above the majority of players on the park.
Aston Villa made two changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Arsenal. Karim El-Ahmadi and Ron Vlaar were replaced by youngsters Ashley Westwood and Nathan Baker. Villa played a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Arsenal 7:5 Reading.
Few would have thought it at first, but the Capital One Cup tie that brought together Arsenal and Reading was to be one of the greatest games of this or any season. It was a match between what was essentially an Arsenal reserves side; featuring unproven youngsters mixed with fringe players from the first team, only Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny of the starting eleven could be considered fully fledged first-teamers; and a Reading side with six changes to the one that drew 3-3 with Fulham at the weekend.
Arsenal started the game incredibly sluggishly, managing to play the kind of uninspiring and dreary football we saw against Norwich and Schalke, blunt going forward, sloppy at the back and we were made to pay by Jason Roberts very early on, then succumbed to a series which included an own goal and a goalkeeping howler which put us 4:0 down after 34 minutes,...

The dispute involving Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and defender Rio Ferdinand has “been resolved”, according to The BBC, in spite of Ferguson’s warning in a post match interview that the defender “would be dealt with”.
Ferdinand’s decision not to wear an anti-racism “Kick it Out” shirt during his side’s warm up ahead of their 4-2 win over Stoke last weekend threatened to cause a rift in the Old Trafford dressing room after Ferguson labeled the defenders decision as “embarrassing”. It was believed Ferdinand would be hit by a club fine or even dropped from the squad – and whilst the Scot admitted Ferdinand will be absent from United’s home Champions League tie against Braga tomorrow, he claimed it was because he is being rested, stressing that there is “no issue” between the pair.
“There was a communication problem but it has been resolved. My advice...

Reading welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Madejski Stadium for today’s only Premier League match. Kick-off is at 4pm and the match will be screened live on Sky Sports UK television.
Here’s the team news ahead of the game…
Reading boss Brian McDermott is without only Jason Roberts for today’s game. The forward is missing with a calf injury.
The rest of Reading’s international players all returned from the international break unscathed. Jimmy Kebe is also back in the squad after the Mali winger returned to training last week following the hamstring injury that has kept him out of the season so far.
Goalkeeper Adam Federici has been declared fit ahead of the game after a small doubt over his fitness last week.
For Andre Villas-Boas’ Spurs, veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel is expected to keep his place in the side despite the recent acquisition of French captain Hugo Lloris.
