Netflix has greenlit a UK reality series in which ex-couples reunite at a retreat to confront each other after their relationship broke down due to cheating, hosted by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.
In Cheaters: Unfinished Business (w/t), Holden will oversee the group of couples who have signed up to an expert-led process in the hope that they can face up to their past mistakes, rebuild trust and decide whether they can forgive and forget.
The contestants will gather at an undisclosed location along with Holden. The show is the latest big push into the mainstream UK entertainment space from Netflix, which is also making a show hosted by Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls titled Bear Hunt (w/t).
“Sometimes dreams really do come true,” said Holden, who has been a Britain’s Got Talent judge for 17 years. “All my career I always wanted to host a show about...

TV personality Bear Grylls shared a heartfelt family photograph on Instagram to commemorate son Marmaduke‘s 18th birthday. The image features Grylls, Marmaduke, and his wife, Shara Cannings Knight, and it has sparked surprise across the internet due to Marmaduke’s enormous height.
On April 6, Grylls posted two family photos with the caption, “18 today! We love you so much, Marmaduke… keep shining bright!”
While numerous well-wishers extended birthday greetings, the attention focused mainly on Marmaduke’s towering stature. One comment humorously quipped, “Bear Junior is turning out to be a Grizzly.” Another playful remark read, “You must look up to him a lot,” while a third individual shared, “Bear Grylls looks like he is the son.”
Born on June 7, 1974, Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls, a former Sas trooper, has honed his survival expert, adventurer and television presenter skills. Grylls initially captured the public’s attention when he set multiple world records in unforgiving environments.

Cat Deeley, longtime presenter of So You Think You Can Dance, has revealed details of her experience being caught up in a Los Angeles shopping mall shooting scare that made her want to leave her home in Hollywood and return to live in the UK.
The Sun newspaper reports that Deeley, about to take over hosting duties on ITV flagship daytime show This Morning, wanted to move away from the US after her family were caught in a shopping mall shooting in 2019.
The paper recounts how the presenter, her husband Paddy and young son Milo were forced to take cover during a lunch outing in a Shake Shack restaurant in Century City, Los Angeles. When sirens sounded, they were told to seek shelter after a disgruntled ex-Amazon employee. Deeley is quoted in The Sun remembering:
“Everyone was told to lie behind the counter or pushed into the loos. People were screaming and crying.

Gladiators came back with a bang to British TV screens on Saturday, making light work of ITV’s The Masked Singer.
In the latest line of UK TV reboots, the series in which members of the public take on the gladiators in challenges was watched by more than 6M viewers with a 38% share, comfortably becoming the BBC’s most-watched new show of the year and topping the weekend ratings chart.
Helmed by Bradley Walsh and son Barney, the hour-long show that aired from 5.50 p.m. GMT (9.50 a.m. Pt) peaked with 6.3M and comfortably beat ITV’s The Masked Singer, which is now into its fifth season and was watched by 3.7M from 7 p.m. GMT.
The rating would have been particularly frustrating for ITV as Gladiators aired on that channel for eight years and 13 seasons in the 1990s, making icons of its gladiators. It was briefly restarted by Sky One...

Holly Willoughby is ready to make her comeback on ITV’s Dancing On Ice after enduring a difficult 2023.
ITV has confirmed that Willoughby will present the next season of its celebrity ice skating competition series, with Stephen Mulhern replacing Phillip Schofield as co-host.
Commenting on Willoughby’s return to Dancing on Ice, Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment at ITV, said: “Holly and Stephen are two of our best-loved presenters, so reuniting them 20 years after they first appeared on screen together to host Dancing on Ice marks the start of an exciting year for the show.”
Willoughby has been on a break from presenting duties since October after a man was charged with a plot to kidnap and murder the British television star. Gavin Plumb denies the charges.

Bad Times For The BBC
Déjà vu: When you’ve been doing this for a little while, nothing gives off more of a sense of déjà vu than BBC budget woes. It always starts the same way. A downtrodden UK Prime Minister desperately seeks a distraction hook and latches on to the nation’s favorite (ish) broadcaster, in this case saying over the weekend that the public cannot afford the previously-agreed inflationary rise to the licence fee next year that would have seen the fee shoot up by nearly £15 ($18.90). Several days and one new chair appointment later, and the sentiment was confirmed by Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer, who said the fee will instead rise by just more than £10, as the government shifted the goalposts.

ITV has published findings from its external inquiry into former “This Morning” anchor Phillip Schofield’s affair with a Pa on the show. Schofield did not participate in the inquiry because of a “risk to his health,” the report stated, adding that the former anchor’s “mental health has since deteriorated.”
U.K public service broadcaster ITV hired lawyer Jane Mulcahy Kc to conduct a review earlier this year after Schofield admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with the young staffer (Variety is aware of the staffer’s identity but is not naming him to protect his anonymity). The resulting fallout saw Schofield step down from the daytime magazine show after two decades. He was also dropped by his agent. His long-time co-anchor, Holly Willoughby, found herself caught up in the scandal and also stepped down a few months later after becoming the target of a kidnap plot.

British TV presenter Fiona Phillips announced in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia.
Now, in an interview, the 62-year-old former TV host has revealed she believes her 11-year run of presenting breakfast television could have caused her to get the disease at a relatively young age.
Phillips, who used to get up at around 3am for her shifts presenting ITV breakfast show GMTV between 1997 and 2008, told Woman&Home Magazine:
“I ask myself why I got this dreadful disease. I wonder whether all the years of getting up so early when I was working on GMTV contributed to me getting Alzheimer’s so young.”
Phillips shared that she had benefited from being put on a drugs trial in an attempt to slow down her symptoms, a protocol she said seemed to be working.
She said: “I’m taking part in a revolutionary drug trial that’s trying to find a cure.

Exclusive: UK management agency Ymu is set to make up to 9% of staff redundant following a company review. At the same time, key lender Permira Credit will become its majority shareholder as part of the restructure, we can reveal.
Staff have been informed of the plans internally in the past hour. We hear headcount will be reduced by around 8-9% — up to 32 of Ymu’s 350 employees — and the redundancy process will begin in September. This comes after an independent review of the business by AlixPartners was undertaken to assess routes to a firmer financial footing following a testing post-pandemic period.
Specialist credit investor Permira Credit, which has been a major lender to Ymu, is planning to make what’s thought to be a sizeable investment in the company, and the agency’s leadership team will also equity partners as part of the agreement. On Wednesday morning, ITV boss Carolyn McCall appeared in front of a Parliamentary committee to be grilled over the network’s culture and duty of care in the wake of the Phillip Schofield scandal.
Schofield, a long-time anchor on ITV’s flagship daytime show “This Morning,” resigned last month in ignominy shortly before admitting to an affair with a young male runner on the show while he was married.
Some have questioned the intensity of the coverage, which has unsurprisingly taken a mental toll on both Schofield and his former lover, especially since the affair was, in the anchor’s own words, “unwise but not illegal.” But there are a number of elements – not least the runner’s age – that catalyzed the media tsunami that now threatens to take down not only Schofield but his former co-host Holly Willoughby as well as various network executives including McCall.

ITV boss Carolyn McCall said former “This Morning” anchor Phillip Schofield’s relationship with a young runner on this show was “deeply inappropriate” due to the “imbalance of power.”
McCall was appearing before a U.K. Culture Media and Sport Committee (Cms) parliamentary inquiry on the working culture and duty of care at ITV following the controversy around Schofield and his time on the long-running daytime show.
McCall was joined by ITV’s MD for media and entertainment Kevin Lygo and general counsel Kyla Mullins.
Mullins detailed the company’s investigation of Schofield’s affair, telling the Cms committee the runner – who is being referred to during proceedings as “Person X” – was asked by ITV 12 times about his relationship with Schofield and denied it each time. She said Schofield also repeatedly denied the claims until he resigned last month.

Embattled daytime show “This Morning” is advertising for a new producer.
The job, which pays £40,000 to £50,000 per year, is unrelated to the recent fall-out from the Phillip Schofield scandal. “It’s to replace someone who was promoted and has been live for some weeks,” says a source.
ITV is looking for a producer who “thrives on the buzz” of live television and has an “abundance of ideas” to support anchor Holly Willoughby and guest hosts including Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, according to the job description, which is currently live on LinkedIn.
“This Morning” was rocked by the resignation of Willoughby’s longtime co-host Phillip Schofield last month, following tension between the two anchors. Schofield subsequently revealed that he had had an affair with a young runner on the show, whom he’d known since the runner was a teenager.

“Feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil,” she said of her long-time friend, who stepped down from This Morning last month and later admitted to having a sexual relationship with a young male runner.

Disgraced British TV presenter Phillip Schofield has spent another week in the headlines, following his departure from ITV’s flagship daytime show This Morning and his admission that he had a secret relationship with a runner on the show 40 years his junior.
He’ll be relieved to read the words of fellow presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who has written in defence of the fallen star in this week’s Sunday Times.
Clarkson, who has endured his own share of bad headlines and in Xx departed from hit BBC motoring show Top Gear after a physical altercation with a producer, wrote:

Bad Week For ITV Carolyn McCall and Phillip Schofield

Late last Friday afternoon, just as we were all putting down our pens for the Bank Holiday weekend, the man who had just left This Morning in a hurry after two decades on the sofa used a lengthy mea culpa to confirm what so many had believed to be a rumor for so many years – that he had had an affair with a much younger colleague during his lengthy stint on the daytime stalwart. In a shock tell-all interview just days after resigning from ITV’s This Morning, Phillip Schofield has said he did not “abuse his power” when having an affair with a much younger runner, and that he “sees nothing ahead but blackness.”
Speaking to BBC host Amol Rajan, the visibly shaken former host said he has been feeling suicidal over the past few days and “understands how Caroline Flack felt,” referring to the former Love Island presenter who died by suicide in 2020.
“Last week, if my daughters hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be here,” said Schofield. “They’ve been by my side every moment because they’re scared to let me out of their sight. It’s like a weird numbness. I know that’s a selfish point of view but you come to a point where you just think how much are you supposed to take.”

Embattled ITV anchor Phillip Schofield – who dramatically quit the network last Saturday after admitting to an affair with a young employee on his show – has said he “did not” groom the Pa in his first interview about the scandal.
Schofield, who spent two decades as the lead anchor on ITV’s daytime show “This Morning,” maintains that the relationship didn’t begin until the young man (whom Variety has agreed not to name at his request) was legally an adult. The man first began working on ITV show “This Morning” as an intern at the age of 19 (reportedly securing the internship with Schofield’s assistance) and was hired as a runner/Pa the following year.
Asked directly about claims he groomed the Pa, who reportedly first met Schofield when he was just 15 years old, the anchor replied: “I did not. I did not. I mean there are accusations of all sorts of things.

As U.K. network ITV launches an external review into the circumstances surrounding “This Morning” anchor Phillip Schofield’s “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a young employee, many are wondering how the long-time host – a staple of British daytime television – went from ITV golden boy to Tellyland exile in a matter of weeks.
It’s a storyline that could have been ripped from Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s Apple TV+ hit “The Morning Show.” An older male anchor handpicks a glamorous, younger and – according to unkind whispers – malleable blonde to be his co-host after falling out with her predecessor.
Fifteen years later the young blonde (reportedly) turns on him, ousting him from the show following a string of scandals that were beginning to taint her brand. But her victory may be short-lived as the married male anchor drops the bombshell that he had an affair with a young...

ITV has instructed a lawyer to carry out a review of the facts surrounding Phillip Schofield’s relationship with a younger colleague following his exit from This Morning.
As ITV attempts to get a grip on a scandal that has dominated UK newspaper front pages for more than a week, employees were told about the review on Wednesday by Chief People Officer David Osborn.
In an email, seen by Deadline, Osborn said ITV wants to “establish the facts” and consider where it can improve its processes. He said the work would be carried out “as quickly as possible.”
Separately, ITV CEO Carolyn McCall wrote to ministers to say that barrister Jane Mulcahy Kc “will review our records and talk to people involved.”
ITV ordered the review after Schofield confessed to his relationship with a young member of the This Morning team following years of concealing and lying about their tryst.

Back in February 2020, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, the married couple who on Fridays presented long-running British morning magazine show This Morning, were the first to hug co-presenter Phillip Schofield live on air after he came out as gay to viewers, with the support of his co-presenter Holly Willoughby, all pictured.
Three years later and it’s a very different story, with Holmes blasting Schofield on social media, calling him “delusional” for claiming there to be no toxicity behind the scenes of ITV’s most important daytime show.
The ping-pong of conflicting accounts has been keeping entertainment journalists in the UK busy since Friday May 12, when Schofield stepped down from his role as the program’s lead presenter after 21 years at the helm. At the time, a rumored broken friendship with Willoughby was commonly cited as the reason, with ITV bosses praising him and saying he would continue to host other shows on the channel.

Updated: ITV presenter Phillip Schofield has been dropped by his agents at Ymu Group.
The parting of ways with Ymu comes as Schofield confirmed to the Daily Mail that he had an affair with a younger male staffer at ITV while he was still married. (The presenter came out as gay in February 2020 and is now estranged from his wife.) He has now resigned from ITV “with immediate effect” and has also pulled out of hosting the British Soap Awards in June.
In a lengthy statement, Schofield said: “Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

Phillip Schofield has stepped down as co-presenter of ITV daytime show This Morning.

Susanna Reid has defended her decision to pay for a blue tick on Twitter.
Last week, CEO Elon Musk made good of his promise to strip “legacy” verification status from every user who had not paid for a Twitter Blue subscription.
In their first tweets without a blue tick, many celebrities said they were happy to be free of it as they believe it would be “embarrassing” to pay $8 (£6.44) a month for it.
It was reported that a mere 28 “legacy” verified users signed up for Twitter Blue hours after Elon Musk took away their verified status.
One celebrity who decided to subscribe in order to retain their blue tick was Good Morning Britain presenter Reid, who defended her decision in response to a news story shared online.

Simon Cowell has spoken out for the first time on David Walliams’ departure from Britain’s Got Talent.
Bgt returned for its 16th season over the weekend, with longtime star Cowell reuniting with Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the judging panel.
The trio were joined by Bruno Toniolo, who has stepped in to replace Walliams.
Back in January, it was confirmed that the Little Britain star would not be reprising his role as a judge on the reality competition following reports that he had made disrespectful comments about contestants.
A transcript obtained by The Guardian allegedly revealed that Walliams described a woman contestant as being like “the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t”.
Walliams apologised for his “disrespectful” comments at the time, stating: “These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared.

Ana De Armas has named the moment she knew she had “made it” in Hollywood.
The actor made her debut on Saturday Night Live during this weekend’s episode (15 April).
In her monologue, De Armas, 34, recalled some of her early experiences in Hollywood.
The Cuban-Spanish star moved to Los Angeles in her twenties, after having begun her acting career in Cuba and Spain.
The Blonde star also spoke about the two times that she felt she had truly “made it”.
De Armas said that the first occasion was when her name was used as an answer in the New York Times crossword puzzle.
She said, however, that the moment was superseded by her SNL debut.
“I feel very lucky to be here,” she said. “I remember the first time my name was in the New York Times crossword. Everyone texted me and they said, ‘You made it – and I thought I did.

Holly Willoughby has announced she may be absent from This Morning this week due to illness.
The ITV presenter warned fans on Sunday (16 April) that viewers may not see her on the next coming episodes of This Morning because she is sick with Shingles.

Willoughby, 42, hosts the daytime programme alongside Phillip Schofield from Monday to Thursday, with Alison Hammon and Dermot O’Leary stepping in to present every Friday.
It has not been announced who will be covering Willoughby if she is absent from this week’s episodes.

Jennifer Aniston has apologised for “calling out” Adam Sandler during a live TV interview.
The actor was promoting their new comedy film Murder Mystery 2, when she was asked about her friendship with her co-star.
Aniston and Sandler, who both shot to fame in the 1990s, have been friends for many years, meeting when they were in their early twenties.
Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (21 March), Aniston was asked if she’s ever received advice from Sandler, to which she said he usually asks her “what are you doing?!” in response “to someone I’m dating”.
But Aniston says she “very much likes to take care of” Sandler as he often overlooks his own well-being in favour of making sure everyone around him is Ok.
“He’s so concerned with taking care of everybody else, which he really does, but he doesn’t take care of himself,...

Adam Sandler was apparently hit “really hard” by Mark Strong on the set of their new film.
The actors were performing their own stunts in a scene being filmed in Paris for new comedy film Murder Mystery 2when the incident occurred.
This particualr stunt-gone-wrong was revealed by their co-star Jennifer Aniston, who said Sandler got “pretty beat up” on the film.
“Adam did a lot of his own stunts and he gets pretty beat up,” she told US chat show host Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (21 March), adding: “I mean, he actually got hit. Did he ever tell you this?
“Mark Strong actually hit him in the face. Pretty hard. I saw it. He cried a little tear.”
Strong plays a villain in the sequel, which catches up with Aniston and Sandler’s married couple who find themselves at the centre of an international investigation after launching their own detective agency.
