Ahmed Lavalais
- Writer
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Ahmed Lavalais was born in Los Angeles, Califonia and raised in Denver,
Colorado, Alexandria, Lousiana, and New York, New York. He hopped from
college to college-studying journalism, fiction, and directing before
eventually pursuing a master's degree in screen writing at the American
Film Institute. His circuitous path toward higher education was
interrupted many times by some unusual experiences, that, combined with
growing up in a law-enforcement family, have given him a perspective of
crime-fighters, criminals, and the ethical question they wrestle
with. Those questions, and the ambiguous moralities of the world of
crime, have continually fascinated Ahmed and helped form his probative,
unflinching writing style. Ahmed was the recipient of Fox's Diversity
Fellowship and his script, Cleansed, about a juvenile drug
rehabilitation center, was selected by Written By, the WGA Magazine, as
one of the five best unproduced drama pilots for the 2006-7 season.
