Lana Del Rey closed out the first night of Hangout Music Festival on Friday night by bringing out Jelly Roll for a duet cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”

Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

The live-action musical by Zoya Akhtar of the popular American comic book series of the same name is something that has been in the making since 2022. Bringing the comic book series through an Indian perspective, the world of ‘The Archies’ revolves around both teenage friendships, and rock’n roll.
The sneak peek of his live performance in the Etihad Arena in the UAE’s skyscraper-filled capital city of Abhu Dhabi brought out the familiar taste of rock music, but this time from an Indian style.

On Rockstar, which finally drops today, Dolly Parton challenged herself to get out of her comfort zone, focusing on singing rock & roll for the first time in her career. She wrote a few songs for the album, but the vast majority of the tracks are covers, including some surprising picks.
Her rendition of Prince and the Revolution’s “Purple Rain” leans deep into the gospel feel of the song, giving Parton space to vocalize all the melisma she can handle where Prince played guitar. It starts with church organ and a little Hendrixy guitar riffing,...

Dolly Parton is arguably the most beloved living American. How many people are alive today because Dolly told them to get the Covid vaccine back in early 2021? Of course, she’s a paragon of country music, but her reach goes far beyond Nashville, from the disco pop of her working-woman masterpiece “9 to 5” to the soft-rock bliss of her classic Kenny Rogers duet “Islands in the Stream.” And the crossover love has been reflected back; one of the most popular cover songs of all time is Whitney Houston’s...

Charlie Worsham has been playing the long game for over a decade, and he’s finally poised to cash in with an all-star duets project he’s calling Compadres. Released this week, the five-song EP features collabs with A-listers Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Elle King, Dierks Bentley, and Kip Moore.

As we reported earlier on Sunday (September 10th), this weekend’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival at the Virginia International Raceway was plagued by severe weather, causing most of the four-day event to be canceled. However, at least one bright moment occurred, when viral sensation Oliver Anthony joined Papa Roach and Shinedown to perform an impromptu acoustic set in the parking lot on Saturday (September 9th) for fans who missed out on seeing their favorite bands.
Blue Ridge Rock Festival was set to be one of the biggest hard rock and metal festivals ever in the United States, with dozens of bands scheduled to play each day. Thursday’s lineup was cut short due to storms, while Friday went on as planned. However, most of Saturday and all of Sunday were outright canceled with organizers citing more severe weather in the forecast, although there are reports that stage hands walked off...

Ben Kingsley, who likes to go to extremes, has played his share of frowningly overcivilized repressed geeks and also his share of seething walking-id maniacs. But for all of Kingsley’s dexterous light-and-dark range, it’s still rare to see him take on a character as painfully mild as Milton, the small-town codger he plays in “Jules.”
Milton, who is 78, lives by himself in a handsome dark-shingled house in Boonton, Penn. In the opening scene, he takes one of his long slow walks through town, then stands up at the open-mic forum in front of the Boonton city council, where he suggests changing the town motto from “A great place to call home” to “A great place to refer to as home.” He’s that kind of harmless eccentric fuddy-duddy with maybe a screw or two coming loose. The following week, he attends another city council meeting, where he stands...

Chris Stapleton has announced that his fifth studio album, Higher, will drop on November 10th via Mercury Nashville. As a preview, he’s also shared the record’s first single, “White Horse.” Listen to the song below.
Co-produced by Stapleton along with his wife Morgane Stapleton and his longtime collaborator Dave Cobb, Higher is the first LP from the 45-year-old country star since 2020’s Starting Over. The 14-track album will “span genres and defy easy categorization,” according to a press release. Pre-orders are ongoing.
The single “White Horse” certainly suggests that Stapleton is leaning into his strengths as a cross-genre act. Lyrics about cowboys “ridin’ off into the sunset” create a classic country vibe, but the electric guitar-driven arrangement feels akin to straight-up rock music, with a thick wall of sound delivering the powerful harmonic progression, and a guitar solo that’s a whole lot closer to Lynyrd Skynyrd than Chet Atkins.

Los Angeles, July 16 (Ians) Country music legend Dolly Parton, 77, has said she’d rather die performing than retire.
“I would never retire. I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song onstage someday. Hopefully, one I’ve written. But that’s how I hope to go,” the ‘Jolene’ singer said on the Greatest Hits Radio show.
“Of course, we don’t have much of a choice in that. But as long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good. I mean, the only way that I would ever slow down or stop would be for that reason. But in the meantime, I’m gonna make hay while the sun shines,” she said, as per ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.

Dolly Parton’s upcoming album, Rockstar, features an exciting lineup of classic rock songs with an all-star cast. Many of these songs are iconic tracks that are considered untouchable. However, this isn’t the only time Parton has covered classic rock, as she has recorded her own version of songs from artists like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.
