- Sunghyun Kim is a well-recognized Music Director & Composer for films in South Korea. Crossing all genres of film, Sunghyun has composed for independent award winning films, romance, comedy and controversial historical dramas like Hwaryeohan Hyuga (May 18th). Born in Busan (Pusan), South Korea, host city of Korea's most prominent international film festival, Sunghyun found music to be an early fascination in his life, and in order to play music he built his very first guitar by hand. Early musical inspirations for Sunghyun were international icons like Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Page & Plant and Michael Jackson. In these icons, Sunghyun could see that music stretched beyond a person's ability to train and learn and instead encompassed a feeling that methodology fails to explain. It was that inspiration and devotion to creating music that brought Sunghyun to Seoul where he began his work as a film composer. After the success of his first few films, Sunghyun took on a small staff of composers he could direct. In this, he was able to create more versatile music which proved beneficial to his goals as a music composer and director as well as the needs of the film directors he collaborated with. In late 2010 Sunghyun began working as the Music Director for South Korea's highly anticipated 3D action film, "Sector 7" (Chil gwang gu). This marks his third collaboration with Director Ji-hun Kim, and his first collaboration under the guidance of Haeundae (Tidal Wave) Director and Writer, Youn, Je-kyun.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Gwendolyn Elder MA, Public Relations
