Alycia Debnam-Carey is delivering her best work in Prime Video's The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.
The 100 and Fear the Walking Dead alum plays the titular character in the adaptation of Holly Ringland's novel.
As you'll recall if you've been watching the show on Fridays as it unspools on the streaming service, Alice is living with her grandmother after becoming an orphan.
Throughout the first four episodes, the series touched upon Alice's violent upbringing, and Friday's new episode, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, sends things in an emotional direction.
Twig (Leah Purcell) is trying to find Alice in the episode while Alice is off trying to piece together her past.
Alice is hiding a significant burden in the form of setting the fire that got her into her current predicament, but she was driven by the abuse at the hands of her father.
Her fateful decision changed her life forever,...

There’s nothing quite like having an Oscar-winning actor in your corner, or perhaps a star of one of the biggest TV Series of all time. In the case of Kick Gurry, creator, producer and actor in the forthcoming Stan Original Series “Caught,” the backing of Sean Penn and Matthew Fox has undoubtedly been a boon.
After Gurry shared an early teaser of the show crafted with friends in Australia, Penn’s reaction was music to his ears. As Gurry shared with Variety, “He said everyone’s afraid of stories right now and we have to be pushing forward with courage in storytelling.”
Indeed, the courage to tell bold, new stories has resulted in an audacious six-episode satirical comedy series slated to premiere later in 2023. The series boasts a formidable cast that Gurry describes as a “murderer’s row of talent.” Among them, Sean Penn, who also serves as an executive producer,...

A new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show has just been released, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are looking back at what may be the least popular entry in the Alien franchise – and if that’s the case, it’s an accomplishment that it passed some of the lesser entries on the race to the bottom. The movie in question is 2017’s Alien: Covenant (watch it Here) – and to find out what The Arrow and Lance think of it, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by John Logan and Dante Harper (and a story by Jack Paglen and Michael Green), Alien: Covenant has the following synopsis: Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. Sundance Now and AMC+ have released the official trailer for Black Snow, a new six-part series premiering on February 23, 2023. Described as part whodunit and part coming-of-age drama, Black Snow stars Travis Fimmel as a cold-case detective investigating a murder.
In addition to unveiling the official trailer, AMC+ and Sundance Now released a batch of photos ahead of the show’s two-episode premiere.
In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Fimmel described why Black Snow caught his interest.
“What intrigued me about him is that he’s a very flawed character. He’s got a lot of issues, childhood issues that he’s still dealing with, parental figures, and I think that’s the reason he became a cold-case detective,” said Fimmel. “There’s some stuff that unravels in the story that he went through that is very similar to the stuff that’s going on in the main storyline.

"There are a lot of women who really like the thought of a man cleaning their house." Brainstorm Media has revealed an official US trailer for an Australian indie sex comedy called How to Please a Woman, both written and directed by filmmaker Renée Webster. The film opens later this month in a few American cities, and it also played at the 2022 Bentonville Film Festival. This looks like pure unadulterated fun! When her all-male house-cleaning business gets out of control, a mature woman must embrace her own sexuality, if she is to make a new life for herself. The film is described as "a precarious, often hilarious and revealing journey into the vulnerable world of what women really want and how hard it can be to get it right." Starring Sally Phillips as Gina, with Erik Thomson, Alexander England, Ryan Johnson, Caroline Brazier, Josh Thomson, Hayley McElhinney, and Tasma Walton.

Phillips charms in this Australian-set comedy about a businesswoman who runs a service that offers male sex workers who also scrub floors
Arriving like a horny bus to a public transport orgy, this is the second comedy in a matter of weeks, after Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, about women hiring sex workers. Be that a happy coincidence or the start of a trend, it’s cheering that both films are so entertaining, body positive and upbeat but still entirely different experiences. This take on the material is set in Australia and revolves around Gina (played by the protean Sally Phillips), a middle manager of a certain age, stuck in a functional but practically sexless marriage. When Gina’s friends club together to pay handsome moving company employee Tom (Chris Hemsworth-lookalike Alexander England) to arrive at her house and strip for her on her birthday, she turns town...

At this point what haven’t we seen done onscreen with zombies? We’ve seen zombies in shopping malls. We’ve seen zombies face off against cockneys. We’ve seen Jane Austen mixed with zombies. Abe Forsyth will direct Robocop Returns, which makes me want to dance like Lupita Nyong'o. It's a natural progression for the Australian filmmaker, who made an impressive feature debut with his end-of-the-world comedy Down Under, as noted in my Fantastic Fest review. He followed that up with Little Monsters, which gained Hollywood stars Lupita Nyong'o and Josh Gad to go along with Alexander England, yet retained Forsyth's morbid sense of humor in splendid, splattery fashion. (Now streaming on Hulu and reviewed here). Forsyth will write a new screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which is good news, if all goes as hoped. That would ensure a fresh approach to the Robocop character, who got a stiff, clanky reboot in Robocop (2014). Really, though, a darkly...

‘Little Monsters.’
When Abe Forsythe conceived the idea of Little Monsters, he intended the film to be screened in cinemas, reaching a far wider audience than his black comedy Down Under.
That’s not how it turned out, much to the disappointment of the writer-director. The Sundance Film Festival hit starring Lupita Nyong’o, Alexander England and Josh Gad is restricted to one-night only screenings at around 30 cinemas for just three weeks before it lands on Foxtel Store and iTunes.
Meanwhile Proud Mother Pictures’ Genevieve Bailey is criss-crossing the country, staging 20 Q&a screenings for her feature doc Happy Sad Man, an exploration of masculinity and mental health. Bailey is handling theatrical bookings for her film which is having an exclusive run at Melbourne’s Cinema Nova before it starts rolling out in Sydney locations on Wednesday.

Alexander England is one of many actors in show business at the moment that has had the opportunity to work alongside great actors and actresses and might actually be on the cusp of greatness at some point but at this time is being noticed at least and given some props for what he’s done. One has to imagine that in show business the competition is insane since there are always new faces coming in, new hopes being risen and dashed to the ground, and hundreds if not thousands of people being considered as new hopefuls while those that are established

Lupita Nyong'o's Little Monsters is a bubbly zombie comedy. We chat with director Abe Forsythe to discuss the life lessons he imbued in it.
Given the current, maddening state of things, it is easy to think things are never going to return to “normal.” That the world’s problems are too big. But if you fear you’re giving into such misanthropy, please consider checking out Little Monsters. For here is a movie convinced that no matter how big things may seem, there’s always a chance to fix it all, including with a song.
One of the big hits at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, Little Monsters follows the story of Dave (Alexander England); a man whose life doesn’t seem to add up to much, especially after his long-time girlfriend breaks things off, once and for all. A few questions might race through your mind during the hectic opening moments of Abe Forsythe’s “Little Monsters,” in which an Australian couple shouts their way through an extended public breakup while bubbly piano music plinks by in the background. Questions like: “is that a Hemsworth?,” “can a zombie comedy perfectly split the difference between Edgar Wright and Taika Waititi?,” and “how are Lupita Nyong’o, Josh Gad, and an invasion of the walking dead going to factor into this?”
Like everything else in this , the answers come fast and furious. Alexander England — who honestly might still be a Hemsworth, despite what the internet and his birth certificate might tell you — stars as David, a scruffy blond musician with a bad case of stunted manhood. Forsythe’s script doesn’t get into specifics until the third act, but it’s clear from the start that David might be a...
