Todd Roe
- Actor
- Stunts
On his 23th birthday Todd graduated from college and moved to L.A. in
June, 2001, to pursue stunt work. Stunt coordinator 'Eddie Matthews',
with Genera8xion Entertainment, gave him his first real break in a spot
for a Christian organization, Promise Keepers, shot in downtown
Norfolk, Virginia, five months later. Ironically, the character that
Todd played was named "Tad" and the whole commercial was a chase scene
on foot that, in content, looked almost identical to Todd's demo reel.
By the end of summer 2002, he got his SAG card after doing a lot of
background work, primarily in the morgue on "Crossing Jordan". In the
spring of 2003, he set out each day to literally knock on doors in
Hollywood. Instead of just "hustling" stunt coordinators, he drove laps
around L.A., looking for favor with casting directors, producers, and
even well-known actors. One day, Todd walked into the office of veteran
casting director and actor
Danny Goldman, and said, "I don't
have representation, so I'm coming around to meet casting directors in
person." Danny replied, "You've got a good face. I like your
enterprise. You need to go see an agent at Morgan." So, Danny sent him
right over to the Morgan Agency, who signed him commercially. When Todd
found out weeks later that Danny had done the voice of Brainy Smurf, he
started telling people, "Brainy Smurf got me my agent!"
