But the Metro Boomin-curated album for the animated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” also topped Billboard’s soundtrack chart this year and seems likely to swing into competition.

First Artists Management, the Los Angeles-based talent agency specializing in composers and music supervisors, is expanding its operations by opening an office in London and hiring two new agents.
Hamish Duff joins First Artists from independent management and publishing company Involved Productions. He will head the London office and oversee all U.K. and European operations, “creating a Transatlantic approach to representation,” said First Artists founder Vasi Vangelos.

Four months after winning an Emmy for her score to the miniseries “Chernobyl” and two days after taking home a Golden Globe for her music to “Joker,” composer Hildur Gudnadottir won new awards for both of those scores at the first annual Scl Awards, presented by the Society of Composers and Lyricists.
Although the Scl was formed in 1983 as an offshoot of previous organizations that had dated back to 1945, its efforts to promote the interests of composers and lyricists working in visual media did not include giving out awards until this year.
“What took you guys so long with the awards?” composer Bill Conti asked at the beginning of the show. “People who work in Hollywood, we need constant approval.”

The Society of Composers & Lyricists has been around for nearly 75 years, but not until this year did the organization start its own annual awards program for music appearing in film, TV and videogames — and the nominees announced Tuesday for the inaugural show are certain to be scrutinized as a bellwether for what to expect as the Motion Picture Academy’s music branch votes on shortlists for the song and score categories.
As expected, Hildur Gudnadóttir scored nominations in film and TV categories alike, with nods for her work on “Joker” and “Chernobyl,” respectively. The latter limited series already won her an Emmy, and she’s being seen as a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination for scoring the blockbuster supervillain origin story.

Composers John Powell and Germaine Franco took top honors at Wednesday night’s Screen Music Awards of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Powell, composer of the Oscar-nominated score for “How to Train Your Dragon” and the new “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” received the Henry Mancini Award for his “outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music.”
Franco, songwriter and arranger of last year’s “Coco” who was also recently named “one of 15 Latinas who are changing the world” by Univision, received the Shirley Walker Award, given to a composer “whose achievements have contributed to the diversity of film and television music.”

One of the most hotly-anticipated games in recent times was dropped on the public to a less-than-enthusiastic response, but while Star Wars Battlefront has divided fans across the world, there’s no doubt in my mind that it is an incredible production worthy of a place in your games library.
As far as shooters go, Battlefront without a doubt ranks among the top, and that’s all due to stripping itself back to the bare basics of the genre. There’s been a multitude of complaints with regards to EA’s handling of the game and their disgracefully high price for a few extra maps in the season pass, and I agree with all of them. However, that shouldn’t detract from the fact that while there’s not a lot of game to play, what is there, is spectacular.
So if you’re sitting on the fence over...

Kinect: Star Wars was supposed to take players to a galaxy far, far away in ways unlike any other game. While the overall reviews were mixed, the game definitely had some high points, and some low ones – coincidently, the game's music happened to fall into both categories. While many critics, fans, and Star Wars enthusiasts took a bit of exception to the Dance Central-inspired, Galactic Dance-Off mode, the rest of the game's soundtrack was outstanding. It may have not been composed by the immortal John Williams, but two long-time Star Wars fans and franchise veterans, Gordy Haab and Kyle Newmaster, evoked the essence of the movies, while maintaining the fresh feel of the game.
