A haunting lead performance from Marco Pigossi, steeped in melancholy and raw pain but also in moments of openness, optimism and even joy, helps make High Tide an affecting portrait of untethered gay men seeking meaningful connections. Writer-director Marco Calvani’s sensitively observed first feature draws parallels between the isolation of an undocumented Brazilian, nearing the end of his visa and disinclined to return home, and that of a Black American, secure in his tight friendship circle but very much aware he’s the minority in a predominantly white queer tourist mecca — and in the country at large.
About that setting — for anyone who loves Provincetown, this film and its enveloping sense of place will evoke fond associations with the historic fishing village and art colony on the tip of Cape Cod.
The physical beauty of the landscape and the caressing softness of the light help both to define and...

The main draw on the surface of writer-director Marco Calvani’s lovely if overly dramatic feature debut is the jaw-dislocating physical beauty of its star. That might sound crass, but “High Tide” is a movie that dares you not to be obsessed with — and attracted to — its leading man. Actor Marco Pigossi, Calvani’s real-life partners, enters the first frame as if sculpted out of marble, or butter even, stripping down to nothing and rushing into the sea off a desolate nude beach along Provincetown, Massachusetts, in a spin of anguish.
The cold open is a bookend “High Tide” will return to at its climax. It’s also a chilly plunge into a baptismal, hoped-for catharsis for Lourenço (Pigossi), a Brazilian immigrant with an expiring tourist visa reeling from a sudden breakup and now stuck in the United States, hoping to stay there. Bereft and abandoned by his unseen American...

First debuting on Netflix in 2021 and releasing its second season in March 2023, the fantasy series Invisible City, created by Carlos Saldanha, has been announced not to return for a third season.
Numerous Brazillian X accounts were Tweeting about the show’s cancelation, but most didn’t name the source. Thankfully, we dug and found that the actor Marco Pigossi was ultimately behind the cancelation news. Pigossi plays the main character, Eric, in the show.
In a post on Instagram on December 16th, the actor doesn’t explicitly say the show was canceled but does bid farewell to his character.
Translated into English Rank Week in Top 10 March 19th, 2023 to March 26th, 2023 11,130,000 9 1 March 26th, 2023 to April 2nd, 2023 7,850,000 (-29%) 6 2
Sadly, those numbers likely weren’t enough to warrant future seasons. Google Trends suggests the global interest in the show was over 50% less going into the second season.

Spoiler alert: This post contains plot details from the Season 1 finale of “Gen V.”
Antony Starr and Karl Urban — who star on Amazon’s Prime Video drama “The Boys” as Homelander and Billy Butcher, respectively — reprised their roles in the Season 1 finale of “Gen V.” And it turns out they were gracious enough to do it on their “day off” from filming as Homelander assists some fledgling supervillains and Billy ties the Supe virus storyline to “The Boys” Season 4.
“Of course with Homelander, we were always kicking around, ‘When do you want to see him?’ And, ‘When do you want to pull that card?’ Because it’s a rare thing, and we didn’t want to squander it,” “Gen V” showrunner Michele Fazekas told TheWrap of Starr’s cameo. “It had come up throughout the season, and then it just made sense as the sort of thing to happen in the finale.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1.
The first season of The Boys spinoff Gen V is coming to a close this week, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride as the young supes of God U struggle to decide how to move forward after discovering the true nature of The Woods and its experiments.
With Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) now dead at Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) behest, the threat of the virus seems to be quelled for now, but that doesn’t mean that Cate’s thirst for vengeance has. In the season finale preview, Cate and Sam (Asa Germann) band together to release the people being held in The Woods and seek justice for the atrocities committed against the young supes of God U. Their friends, however, don’t seem too thrilled by the gleam of violence in their eyes as the campus descends into chaos.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1 and The Boys through season 3.
From the beginning of The Boys spinoff Gen V, Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn), the dean of Godolkin University, has appeared to be just another person whose morals have been bought by Vought. The secret experiments that she and Dr. Cardosa (Marco Pigossi) have been performing on young supes in the secret on-campus facility dubbed The Woods are cruel, but not any more so than what Stormfront (Aya Cash) and Lamplighter were doing to the supes held at the Vought facility Sage Grove in The Boys season 2.
Until episode 7, Dr. Cardosa even believed that the supe-targeting virus that he’s been working on was for Vought so that they could find a way to control supes and keep them in line. However, in the episode “Sick,” Shetty reveals to Cardosa that Vought has no idea about the deadly...

Heads rolled (well popped) in the latest episode of Gen V, as Prime Videos’s The Boys spinoff delivered an action-packed penultimate episode that tied neatly into its bigger brother. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed (via EW) that the Gen V finale will include a “handoff” to The Boys season 4, and with some significant cameos during “Sick”, things are starting to come together.
The Gen V trailer teased the return of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, with the head-popping politician stopping by Godolkin University to put one of her sinister schemes into play. Having thrown Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) under the bus in The Boys season 3, she’s now on the way to the White House as a vice presidential candidate. Although we were on the money that Neuman was the mysterious benefactor of Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), that...

Since "Gen V" premiered, it became amply clear that there was something nefarious about The Woods, which seemed like an open secret among the adults occupying the ranks in Vought. As for the young adults, the weight of the truth was too much to bear: Luke/Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) ended up dying by suicide due to the trauma of being mentally toyed with, while his brother Sam (Asa Germann) is currently unable to escape radical indoctrination despite being free. The others — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor/David Luh), Cate (Maddie Philips), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) — wrestle their inner demons over the course of the episodes, trying to help uncover the unsavory secrets that lie beneath Godolkin. Until one of them goes rogue.

The penultimate episode of Gen V’s first season is poised to be an intense one as Marie, Andre (Chance Perdomo), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Sam (Asa Germann) work to uncover Dean Shetty’s (Shelley Conn) plans for The Woods and how they connect to Sam and his brother Luke’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) abilities.
Episode 7 will feature the return of Congresswoman and Vice Presidential candidate Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), who grew up in Red River before being adopted by Vought’s former CEO Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito). Even though Neuman is moving up in the world, and has kept her supe abilities generally under wraps as far as the general public is concerned, she seems to still have a connection with Marie, who also grew up at Red River. I hope you’re up for accruing more student debt because The Boys spinoff Gen V is getting a second season at Amazon. The renewal arrives ahead of the Season 1 finale, scheduled to air on November 3 on Prime Video. While the Season 2 renewal is unsurprising, it’s welcomed news in the face of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and a general air of uncertainty circulating throughout the film and television arenas.
“Expanding the universe of ‘The Boys’ with a series as bold as ‘Gen V’ has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew ‘Gen V’ would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped ‘Gen V’ become the No.

There’s another school year ahead for the students at Godolkin University.
Amazon has renewed Gen V, its college-set spinoff of The Boys, for a second season. The news comes about midway through Season 1 as audiences gear up for the November 3 finale. Episode 6, titled “Jumanji,” is set to release on the streamer Friday.
Amazon has yet to release any data about the series’ performance so far. It hasn’t quite been a month since the first three episodes premiered on September 29, meaning that the series wouldn’t have appeared yet on the Nielsen streaming charts. It’s possible that more data will be available in the coming weeks, if the series cracks the streaming Top 10.

This post contains spoilers for "Gen V."
The college-age characters on "Gen V" have some powers that are pretty unique from those we've seen on its parent show, "The Boys." The most mysterious powers, however, belong to Marie (Jaz Sinclair). Sure, we've seen blood-bending in various forms before in other media, but the full extent of Marie's capabilities has yet to be seen. Each episode sees her revealing more elements of her abilities, because an attunement to blood is going to be really powerful. A whole lot of living things are chock-full of the stuff, including humans, which makes her a serious possible threat. Many other supes have some kind of restrictions to their abilities but the only thing that could really short out Marie seems to be losing too much of her own blood, which hasn't come close to happening yet.
In episodes 4 and 5 of "Gen V," Marie's blood...

This article contains spoilers for Gen V and The Boys.
With superheroes growing more and more unpredictable and volatile in the world of The Boys, it’s no surprise that Vought would be seeking new means to control them and their powers. Now that supes know that they were created with Compound V and not born with their abilities, Vought’s promises of wealth and popularity often aren’t enough to keep them in line. The Boys spinoff Gen V is not only showing us how the young supes in this world are reacting to this news, but also how Vought is adapting before they lose control entirely.

Class is in session over at Godolkin University, as Eric Kripke’s world of The Boys expands into Gen V. Based on the “We Gotta Go Now” arc of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys comics, Gen V is also inspired by Marvel’s X-Men and introduces us to a young crop of wannabe supes.
We’re five episodes into Gen V season 1, and as we head into our final exams, there are enemies coming from all sides at Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and her classmates. Although we know Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is on the way to cause trouble, viewers have used their Tek Knight-inspired powers of perception to sniff out another potential crossover between Gen V and its bigger brother.

“Gen V” showrunner Michele Fazekas told TheWrap that the show’s team of writers lucked out when they learned their head of makeup, Colin Penman, knew how to build puppets. Penman’s talent helped them pull off their pitch for Sam Riordan’s (Asa Germann) violent puppet-fied fight scene in the Prime Video show’s fifth episode.
“We really got into the idea of shooting an action sequence exactly how you would shoot any action sequence. Nothing is different about it except for the fact that it’s puppets, and the sort of juxtaposing,” Fazekas told TheWrap.

As if trying to survive the cutthroat politics of God U wasn’t enough, the young supes also find themselves embroiled in a mystery involving Luke’s brother Sam (Asa Germann) and the Vought facility that’s been keeping him prisoner. “The Whole Truth,” the fourth episode of Gen V, features a dick joke in its first act, a dick joke in its third act, and wedged in-between is a dick exploding like a bloody piñata. Ladies and gentlemen, The Aristocrats …. I mean, The Boys!
The Boys universe has always operated under the ironclad comedic principle of “pee-pees are funny” and Gen V seems to be continuing that tradition. And honestly, it’s hard to argue they’re wrong for doing so. Pee-pees are indeed funny! We’ve seen this borne out in the season 3 opener of the flagship series which saw shrinking supe Termite entering an actual human penis and inadvertently blowing it up (along with the body it belongs to) by a sneeze-triggered rapid growth. Just last week on Gen V we saw another shrinking supe Emma (Lizze Broadway) engage with...

This post contains spoilers for episode 4 of "Gen V."
Godolkin University, or GodU, harbors many unsavory secrets, but the most sinister cover-up so far is The Woods, an underground facility where young Supes are brutally experimented on. Even though "Gen V" has offered crumbs to help us gradually understand this covert project, there's a lot we don't comprehend yet, especially in relation to Sam (Asa Germann), who has now been rescued, thanks to Emma (Lizzy Broadway). Based on previous flashbacks and Sam's enraged outburst in the latest episode, it appears his superpower is brutal superstrength, which might have been augmented due to intense experimentation in The Woods.
Things take a darker turn when Sam is alone with Emma at the abandoned game parlor after their bloody escape from the underground facility. Having bonded with Emma, who gently assures Sam she will never abandon him, Sam is afraid of losing her.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V Episodes 1 – 3.
It’s completely understandable if you’re having trouble remembering what happened in the first three episodes of Gen V, the teen-set spin-off of superhero satire The Boys. After watching Emma aka Little Cricket (Lizzie Broadway) using her powers to appease a partner’s fantasies, everything else kind of falls away.
But like its parent series, Gen V has a lot more going on than just shocking sex and violence. By focusing on the next generation of Supes, the teens who received powers after being injected with Compound V as children, Gen V adds a layer of soapy drama to the social satire and superhero action.

The official start of fall is days away, and Zegna and The Elder Statesman made sure a select set of Los Angeles VIPs are armed and ready with a new collection of cozy cashmere thanks to a pair of parties on Wednesday evening.
Following a launch in Paris earlier this year, the two brands teamed to unveil the wares locally, first during an outdoor bash at West Hollywood luxury hideaway Maxfield in the late afternoon. The festivities continued in the evening at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills designed by modernist architect Richard Neutra. Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori and The Elder Statesman founder and CEO Greg Chait made the rounds at both to chat up the Oasi Cashmere collab which merges the sensibilities of their respective companies by combining Zegna’s eye for the finest in materials with Elder Statesman’s bold and eye-catching prints.
