Fresh off his gig hosting this year’s Primetime Emmys, comedian and “SNL” veteran Kenan Thompson is back on stage Thursday night in Atlanta, as he kicks off the 13th edition of his “Kenan Presents The Ultimate Comedy Showcase” — and this time with a few new technological wrinkles.
The stand-up comedy search, which leads off at the Atlanta Comedy Theatre on Sept. 22, follows Thompson as he scouts for adult comedians and talented kids in more than 50 cities. Among the new elements, all around the country (50+ major cities).
Thompson has teamed up with Rendered Talent to include a virtual reality option for participants to partake in the metaverse through the “Failed To Render Comedy Club.” In addition, Thompson partnered with Proto to be able to join live shows through the metaverse as a digital hologram, attending showcases digitally to accommodate his busy schedule via Proto’s 4K hologram device.

Just when you thought there were no more TV talk shows left on which President Obama could make his debut, Disney/ABC announced this morning he will make his first appearance on Live With Kelly And Michael this coming Friday. Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan will travel to Washington to sit down with Obama at the White House and talk about that day’s White House Healthy Kids and Safe Sports Concussion Summit. Disney’s portfolio of TV networks includes Espn — but Friday Night Tykes, the controversial TV docu-series about 8-to-9- year-old Rookies division of the Texas Youth Football Association, has its home on Comcast’s Esquire Network. In its first season, one of two Tykes coaches got suspended after an episode in which he was seen telling his players to hit an opponent in the head. Despite that, and other, controversies, Tykes last month got a second-season order.

Esquire Network has ordered a second season of its controversial Friday Night Tykes. The announcement coincides with tonight’s special 90-minute 9 Pm Et/Pt episode of the docu-series, Tackling Tykes, featuring first-season coaches and parents, former NFL coaches and players, youth football leaders, psychologists, trainers and neurologists who discuss safety, coaching and the role of youth football, hosted by The Insider’s Kevin Frazier. The show was criticized by some, and and two coaches featured in the show were suspended over scenes in the first season — one for telling his players to hit an opponent in the head, and another for leading his 8- and 9-year-old players in a profane cheer. “The first season of Friday Night Tykes sparked a national debate about competitive youth sports, and we think it’s important to continue that discussion with a second season of the series,” Matt Hanna, Head of Original Programming at...

It's official! Decades co-owners Cameron Silver and Christos Garinos have paired up with Bravo for a new reality show. The series' working title? "Decades."
"The show will highlight the really unique and special place we hold in the fashion world and kind of expose people to a really interesting parte of fashion that hasn't been seen before," Christos Garinos told The Huffington Post.
"We've been approached for a long, long time to do a show," Garinos added. "The timing was really, really right."
"Decades" is being produced by True Entertainment, with Glenda Hersh, Steven Weinstock, Matt Hanna, Kathryn Vaughan and Lauren Eskelin as executive producers.
"I love collaborations," Cameron Silver told The Huffington Post last month, and this is undoubtedly following that modus operandi.
As for how this will change the high-end, insider operation as it stands now, no one knows. But, here's hoping that Decades doesn't soon become a one-stop camera bulb shop.

Bravo isn't letting its recent successes slow it down, as the channel announced their new development slate, which includes eight new shows, after recently picking up 11 new shows and renewing an additional five. While you get the typical array of looks at the worlds of fashion, art, and powerful women through unscripted fare, the network will be trying a scripted show for the first time. Titled Face Down, it will center on an in demand make up artist to the stars who gets to see all that's behind the celebrity iron curtain; there's no word on whether it's an hour or half hour show, but I'm willing to bet that it'll be the type of fizzy, fun program that Bravo focuses on. Face Down was created by Liz Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Charmed) and Stephen Kay.

After striking out with original comedy Significant Others and the off-network drama Six Feet Under and being used by sister NBC as a dumping ground for canceled scripted series like Quarterlife, Bravo brass had vowed to keep the cable network scripted programming-free. The stance changed in 2009 when, at its upfront presentation, Bravo announced the development of two scripted series, Blueprint and 30 Under 30. Neither got anywhere, but two years later, Bravo is at it again with Face Down, a scripted show about a charming and flawed make-up artist, from Lionsgate TV and creators Liz Sagal and Stephen Kay. Like the two previous original scripted efforts, Face Down adheres to Bravo's core unscripted programming brand of food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture. The network also announced seven more reality series in development. Today's development slate follows Bravo's upfront presentation a week ago where the cable network announced 11 new series pickups (all unscripted) and five renewals.

Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun's BermanBraun has landed its first series pickup, with ABC giving a 10-episode order to a game show titled "Duel".
The format of the hourlong show was created by David Rosconval and Francis Vacher of French TV, who will executive produce with Berman and Braun.
In addition to ABC, British broadcaster ITV also has commissioned its own version of the series from French TV.
"Duel" combines the knowledge and strategy required involved in classic game shows along with the gambling, bluffing and tension of a high-stakes poker game. It pits contestants head-to-head in a race to win a big-money jackpot. Five competitors in a row must be beaten to take home the ever-increasing jackpot. Players go home with nothing if they miss even one question.
ABC has yet to determine the premiere date for the show, which will be supervised at BermanBraun by Matt Hanna, head of alternative programming. In the U.K., the eight-part series will be produced by Gallowgate Prods.

VH1 development executive Matt Hanna has been named head of alternative development in the television division of Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun's recently launched independent production company.
At Los Angeles-based BermanBraun, which has a first-look deal with NBC Universal Television, Hanna joins Rachel Kaplan, who was appointed head of scripted series in April (HR 4/16). He will relocate from New York and start at the company July 5.
"The addition of Matt to our team represents a key step in the evolution of our company," Berman and Braun said. "His knowledge, relationships, experience and taste will be invaluable to us as we strive to create quality entertainment across all mediums."
Hanna joined VH1 in 1998 as assignment editor with VH1 News. He was upped to director of music news, director of development and, most recently, vp development at VH1, a position he held since 2005.
Hanna developed and executive produced the channel's series franchises "Celebrity Fit Club", "The Fabulous Life" and "The World Series of Pop Culture." He also developed the channel's upcoming "Click", a photography elimination competition from executive producer Ken Mok, and shepherded several other pilots and series.
