YouTube has taken another step toward reinstalling online internet star Logan Paul since he posted video of a suicide victim, for which he was widely criticized. After being on hold for 10 months, “The Thinning: New World Order,” which stars Paul, is now streaming on YouTube’s subscription-based video on-demand service (Svod).
YouTube delayed the release of the film back in January when Paul came under fire for filming and then posting to YouTube a video of a suicide victim. The YouTube sensation filmed video of a deceased body while walking through Aokigahara forest in Japan, a location that has come to be known as the “Suicide Forest” due to the high number of people who go to the forest to take their own lives.

Updated throughout The Thinning: New World Order, starring Logan Paul, is now available to stream on YouTube Premium, producers have announced.
Legendary Digital Studios, YouTube Premium and Entertainment One (eOne) announced a “surprise drop” of the sequel to the 2016 thriller, though any surprise was spoiled last night by Paul, who posted a trailer on his YouTube channel.
The YouTube Original movie starring the controversial Paul arrives after a nearly year-long punitive shelving. The Thinning: New World Order, a sequel to the The Thinning, launched today on YouTube Premium after a literally winking Paul posted the trailer and a message to his 18.6 million subscribers last night.
YouTube had shelved the sequel in January after Paul stirred up a global controversy by uploading a video of a dead man hanging from a tree in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, the so-called suicide forest. Paul was removed from YouTube’s Google Preferred lineup, and...

Arcadia Bay is headed to the small-screen.
Days after we learned of a live-action Detective Pikachu movie setting up shop at the studio – buoyed by the landmark success of Pokemon Go – The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Legendary is partnering with Square Enix to bring about a Life is Strange TV series.
Said to hew close to Dontnod’s hit five-part series, which followed the curious mind of Max Caulfield and her eerie ability to manipulate time, it’s understood Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment will nurture the adaptation.
First released in January of last year, Life is Strange is a nostalgic, heartfelt tale of two best friends caught up in a dark mystery that threatens to bring ruination to the sun-kissed plains of Arcadia Bay. Its success was recognized in critical circles, too, with Dontnod’s adventure title scoring multiple Game of the Year nominations, not to...

Well done, Hollywood. It seems like the studio bigwigs are getting better and better at choosing the specific properties they decide to take to the big screen. While there's no doubt that a game's popularity plays a big factor in choosing what to adapt to a feature film, what can't be ignored is how fitting the material is for the film medium. Warcraft was perhaps the latest example of a studio not necessarily picking the best type of video game for a movie, while Assassin's Creed is an example of the opposite.
Now, THR is reporting that Legendary and video game developer Square Enix are joining forces to bring the video game Life Is Strange to the big screen. The project will also be developed and produced in conjunction with Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment. The latter man is currently responsible for adapting Sonic The Hedgehog to...

The latest piece in Legendary Entertainment‘s TV operations has fallen into place, with the company saying today it is forming a global television distribution division that will be headed by veteran Michael Grindon, who had been head of Sony Pictures Television International for 15 years. Grindon will report to Bruce Rosenblum, president of Legendary Television and Digital Media, who since being hired last spring has overseen the expansion of Legendary’s TV unit that now has the capacity to develop, finance and self-distribute its fare worldwide. It’s the latest big movie for Legendary, which in December bolstered its TV roster with its first acquisition, nabbing indie producer Asylum Entertainment for north of $100 million by outbidding rivals in the midst of Legendary’s first development season, when it set up several projects. The plan is for Asylum to serve as a production label for non-scripted, long-form, sports and other genres.

We profiled a number of notable goings-on at this year's SXSW, but at least one deserves special note. Break Media, which runs top YouTube channels such as Break and Screen Junkies, will debut Armed Response at the festival, with a panel featuring the series' creators and distributors accompanying the release. Armed Response is a somewhat bare bones action thriller, stripped of pretension: Bad guys there, good guys here, let's take 'em out. If the trailer is any indication, it will be very violent, extra bloody, and plenty loud. The series makes liberal use of first-person and split screen cameras, because when you don't use an actual video game as your source material, the surest way to ensure the young men on YouTube will watch your show is by making it seem like it's a video game. Armed Response will screen for the first time at SXSW, and series creators Tom Bannister...
