Exclusive: Rlje Films has picked up North American rights to actor Mo McRae’s feature directorial debut, A Lot of Nothing — a satirical thriller starring Y’Ian Noel (Insecure), Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth), Lex Scott Davis (Rebel), Shamier Anderson (Invasion) and Justin Hartley (This Is Us). AMC Networks’ business unit has slated the film for release in theaters and on demand on February 3rd.
A Lot of Nothing centers around James (Noel) and Vanessa (Coleman), who seem to be the perfect couple — happily married, successful, and comfortable. But one night, their lives are rocked to the core when, after watching a tragedy play out on the evening news, they realize their neighbor was involved. In a state of shock, and with opposing viewpoints on how to address the issue, they embark on a highly combustible journey to ‘do something’ about it.

Eleven years have passed since director Jason Eisener brought us Hobo with a Shotgun (watch it Here), and while we have had other pieces of Eisener entertainment to watch since then – he contributed segments to the anthologies The ABCs of Death and V/H/S/2, and also directed the series The Dark Side of the Ring – we haven’t gotten another Eisener feature film. Until now. Eisener’s new film Kids vs. Aliens is set to premiere at Fantastic Fest later this month, and it has also secured distribution beyond that. Variety reports that Rlje Films will be giving Kids vs. Aliens a theatrical, VOD, and digital release sometime in early 2023. Then the movie will receive a streaming release through Shudder.

Chillerama Earlier in the year I caught Tim Sullivan's segment for Chillerama entitled "I Was a Teenage Werebear" starring Brent Corrigan, Anton Troy, Gabrielle West and Lin Shaye. It was a spot on entry that captured the beach movie mentality to the tee, but with a gay horror twist. I Was a Teenage Werebear was one of the most entertaining things I had seen come out of the horror entertainment field this year to date. If the other segments from Chillerama are halfway as entertaining as this one, then Chillerama is one of the most anticipated horror films of the year for me. So on that note, I am glad to hear that Image Entertainment is going to be bringing the horror to genre fans this fall.

[With I Was A Teenage Werebear playing film festivals and Chillerama set to debut later this year, Tim Sullivan writes up the first of two parts, regarding his experiences bringing this unique film to life! --Dqm]
As I write this, I am sitting in my hotel room in Honolulu, one day before the world premiere of my Chillerama segment, I Was a Teenage Werebear at the Rainbow Film Fest.. It’s been a long journey to get to this point. I am grateful to so many who supported my journey, and even more grateful to those who did not, for they only strengthened my fortitude to be true to myself, and to my artistic vision. Hawaii will be followed by a 3 month tour on the Lgbt film circuit, before Werebears joins its companion films as part of Chillerama late summer/early fall. (I cannot Wait to tell you what me, Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch and Adam Green got planned for That!!!!)
With the ocean breeze wafting through the balcony windows, I find myself in a reflective mode. For those who don’t already know it, let me just spell it out.

We learned of some incredibly disheartening news this past weekend that will impact the horror genre pretty heavily. Mark Ward, VP of Acquisitions for Anchor Bay Entertainment, was let go from The Bay. This is horrid news as Anchor Bay has been one of the leading genre providers for us horror fiends, while Ward is responsible for bringing you new titles such as Hatchet, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, Halloween: 25 Years Of Terror, Lightning Bug, Spiral, Behind The Mask and next year's Laid To Rest, Grace, and His Name Was Jason. He's also responsible for all of the incredible re-releases such as Halloween, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Hills Have Eyes, Phantasm, Re-animator, Hellraiser 1 and 2, Children Of The Corn, and the Evil Dead 1 and 2 Book of the Dead editions along with the hundreds of horror titles on DVD.
