Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. said Tuesday that it has promoted Australian wunderkind Jeremy Philips to the position of executive vp office of the chairman. The New York-based Philips also will join the conglomerate's Executive Management Committee. Reporting to chairman and CEO Murdoch, Philips, 33, will continue to focus on acquisitions and strategy across the company and will oversee Internet investments in particular. This formalizes the executive's recent focus on working with Fox Interactive Media president Ross Levinsohn, who oversees the firm's Web assets. Levinsohn recently has been concentrating on operational issues, a spokesman said. Philips joined News Corp. in mid-2004 after working as director, strategic investments at Citigroup.
