Exclusive: Australian distributor pre-buys Trespass Against Us.
Umbrella Entertainment has pre-bought Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson heist-thriller Trespass Against Us from Protagonist Pictures.
The deal was negotiated by Protagonist’s Dave Bishop, Umbrella consultant and Coffee & Cigarettes director Eduardo Panizzo, and Umbrella’s Jeff Harrison.
Shoot is due to get underway in the UK this summer with additional cast recently joining the film including Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Lyndsey Marshal (The Hours), Sean Harris (Prometheus) and Killian Scott (Calvary).
The in-demand thriller, which is set to be 12 Years A Slave star Fassbender’s next film, will mark the feature debut of TV and music videos director Adam Smith (Doctor Who) and is written by Alastair Siddons who produces alongside Gail Egan (The Constant Gardener) and Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland). The film was developed in association with Film4 with funding from The BFI and LipSync.
The Chemical Brothers will write and perform the original score.

Umbrella Entertainment is renewing its relationship with Fred Schepisi after releasing the director.s first two movies, The Devil.s Playground (1976) and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978), on DVD.
At the Toronto International Film Festival Umbrella MD Jeff Harrison went to the world premiere of Words and Pictures, Schepisi.s Us-set romantic comedy/drama starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche.
Harrison made an offer for the Australian rights and a deal was negotiated with the international sales rep, Nicolas Chartier.s Voltage Pictures. Roadside Attractions subsequently bought the Us rights.
Owen plays Jack Marcus, an English teacher at a New England prep school. Jack is a former literary star who hasn.t had a book published in years. Estranged from his son, he takes refuge in booze, which gets him banned from the local pub.

Umbrella Entertainment has acquired Australia/New Zealand rights to Fred Schepisi’s Toronto world premiere Words and Pictures.
Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures handles sales; the deal was negotiated by Jeff Harrison, Martina Ternström and Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard.
The Umbrella team said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be the Aus/Nz home for Words and Pictures. Umbrella have had a long term relationship with Fred Schepisi and look forward to working together again on the theatrical release of Words and Pictures.”
