Whoa! Joey's intervention didn't go at all as expected.
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 12 once again proved that this is the best series on television, at least until it moves to its new home on Peacock.
Stabler and Randall went vigilante to force Joey into sobriety, but they got a lot more than they bargained for. Now everything's in place for a season finale that may be literally explosive!
Stabler and Randall Made a Desperate Move
They'd had enough of Joey's nonsense, especially after learning he might have been involved in Sam's death, but also managed to break the tension with humor.
After Joey went on that high-speed chase and was overpowered by them, Randall walked in and casually said, "Hi, Joe." That had to be one of the funniest lines ever.
Joey's withdrawals were serious, though. His physical illness, anger, and violent attempts to escape felt realistic.

Tate Ellington had told us that the technical difficulties suffered by the team in the last episode would continue going forward, and TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the May 9 episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime shows just that. Jet (Ainsley Seiger) passes the laptop from the Boone farm to Vargas (Ellington). “If we can find a pattern in the heroin smuggling routes, maybe we can narrow down where and when the Emery shipment’s coming in,” she says. Then an Atf agent comes in to speak with Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), but she quickly shuts him down when he starts talking about sharing information and being transparent in their joint operation. However, Vargas panicking—”This is not happening!”—puts a stop to that. Watch the full sneak peek above to find out how big of a problem this is. In “Goodnight,” Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Randall (Dean Norris...

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 10 offered suspense that made it impossible to look away for a second.
It's not often that an hour of television is this riveting. The suspense was only one of many reasons this episode was must-see TV.
Most crime shows follow set patterns, including the rest of the Law & Order franchise. There's nothing wrong with that, but Law & Order: Organized Crime is refreshing because it breaks the mold.
There were almost no tired TV tropes during the hour, even if there was one twist that I feel like I should have seen coming.
Throughout the hour, Stabler continually earned more of Angus' trust. That was good news for his case but may not be great news for him personally, especially considering what happened to Sam.
The closer he gets to Angus, the more likely it is he will...

Jet Jaguar is one of the most anticipated additions to the Godzilla cinematic universe. The towering robotic hero first appeared in the 1973 Toho Godzilla film Godzilla vs. Megalon.
Initially, he wasn’t on Godzilla’s side. The undersea civilization (the Seatopians), stole control of Jet Jaguar and used him to guide their giant monster, Megalon, in attacking the surface world.
Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973)
In a surprising twist, Jet Jaguar gained its own consciousness and chose to use its powers for good. Recognizing the danger posed by Megalon, he sought out the assistance of Godzilla. This marked the first (and only) time Jet Jaguar and Godzilla fought together in a Toho Godzilla film.
In the TV series Godzilla Island, viewers are introduced to three variations of Jet Jaguar: a silver model, Medical Jet Jaguar, and Fire Fighter Jet Jaguar. He then made an appearance in the 2021 Netflix animated series Godzilla Singular Point...

2024 marks the 25 anniversary of Cowboy Bebop , Shinichiro Watanabe's landmark sci-fi anime series. To celebrate, Kentex is issuing a limited edition watch inspired by the super-cool Spike Spiegel. The watch face mimics the colors of Spike's iconic outfit, with a tiny Swordfish II on the second hand. In addition to luminous hands and numbers, the watch also has a small calendar between the 4 and the 5. On the 25th of every month, the date number changes to Spike's Jericho 941. Deadline reports a new sports documentary is being planned for kickboxing champion and martial arts movie star Benny “The Jet” Urquidez. The names associated with the production almost seems like a bingo announcer called out randomly drawn names from my favorite childhood movies. Keanu Reeves, who himself is no stranger to the martial arts world and action genre, has partnered with Fisher Stevens, who is known for projects like Short Circuit 1 & 2 and Hackers, to produce the documentary on Urquidez, whom I’ve talked about before on my Dragons Forever retrospective.
The documentary, which is titled The Jet, is currently in production with the Emmy-nominated sports documentary editor turned filmmaker, Jennifer Tiexiera, directing the film. Tiexiera has most recently also directed a three-part series for HBO called Unveiled: Surviving La Luz del Mundo, which has also recently been nominated for an Emmy in the catagory of Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary.

Yoko Ono co-wrote John Lennon‘s “Imagine,” one of the most popular anti-religious songs ever written. Despite this, she still spoke of The Beatles in supernatural terms, saying they were like mystics who could conjure ghosts. She also explained why the Fab Four had such chemistry during their peak years. Her comments are interesting, considering that each of The Beatles had different things to say about their spiritual lives.
Yoko Ono said The Beatles had ‘a kind of chemical’
The book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono features an interview from 1980. In it, John was asked about numerous things, but he was asked about The Beatles more than any other topic, including his solo music, his family, and his political activism. After a certain point, he said that talking about the Fab Four was boring him “to death.”

I'm not blowing any minds by saying that "Avatar: The Last Airbender" took a lot of influence from anime. The characters are drawn in a way that they'd look right at home in an anime, but sometimes, the series' influences manifested more specifically. For instance, the season 1 spirit Hei Bai was inspired by the monstrous Angels from the classic mecha anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion." Jet, the anti-heroic leader of the Freedom Fighters, is likewise modeled on Spike Spiegel from "Cowboy Bebop" (and they share similar "unclear" death scenes). Since "Avatar" aired on Nickelodeon, Jet chews on a wheat thread instead of cigarettes like Spike.
These anime allusions aren't limited to supporting characters, either. In the season 3 episode "Nightmares and Daydreams," our hero — Avatar Aang — imagines himself facing the worst of the worst — Fire Lord Ozai. Neither hero nor villain are wearing their usual threads and across the dreams, they change appearance.

Was this Law & Order: Organized Crime or a Stephen King miniseries?
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 6 featured the second part of a multi-episode story about a serial killer based in a small town where everyone knows each other.
It had all the ingredients for a horrific tale... and then Keith Carridine drove it home with his performance.
I'm a sucker for stories set in seemingly perfect small towns where horrific secrets are kept carefully under wraps, and doubly so when the people in power are desperate to keep their secrets buried.
That made this story a near-perfect hour of television for me. Sometimes, the story reminded me of Twin Peaks without the surreal weirdness, so double-win!
I was surprised that the formerly hostile Chief Bonner readily accepted Stabler's help searching for a serial killer -- until she succumbed to her father's pressure.

Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Albert Kim needs you to know that he is an “Avatar: The Last Airbender” superfan.
The writer and executive producer of Netflix’s live-action retelling of the Nickelodeon cartoon took on the role of showrunner after creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko exited the series — but he was already part of the writers room and a longtime “Avatar” fan before that.
“I did work with [Dimartino and Konietzko] for a short period, and we overlapped while we were here and I got along great with them,” Kim told IndieWire ahead of “Avatar”s February 22 premiere. “I was excited just as a fan to be able to dig in and ask my own nerdy fan questions about Zuko’s mom and who Aang’s parents might be, and all the fun stuff fans like to talk about.

Uh oh. We have a serial killer on our hands.
Stabler's devastating discovery on Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 5 is only the beginning of a horrific case reminiscent of the real-life Gilgo Beach killer.
Maybe finding the killer will give him purpose, but he's at his lowest point right now. Where will he go from here?
It always sucks when a missing person is found dead. Before the gruesome discovery, there's always hope they're still somewhere in the world and can be rescued.
In Rita's case, the tragedy is compounded by the fact that Stabler rescued her from the Albanian mob, only for her to end up dead at the hands of a serial killer. Stabler had hoped against hope that she'd be found alive, and when he uncovered her grave, there were no words for his pain.
These scenes were perfect. Although it seemed like Rita was dead,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for episodes 3 and 4 of "Avatar: The Last Airbender"
With apologies to "Star Wars" fans, there are few sacred texts held up with such rapturous praise that can rival the protectiveness fans of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" harbor towards the animated show. Debuting almost two decades ago, the classic story of a mystical chosen one with the power of all four elements tasked with saving the world from a century-long war has taken on mythic proportions in the time since. And, not surprisingly, such acclaim has stacked the odds against any adaptation, whether it be M. Night Shyamalan's doomed feature film from 2010 or Netflix's attempt to bring the series back to life in live action.
The results have been mixed, as I laid out in my review for /Film, but that's really only scratching the surface. There are several factors behind the Netflix show's highs and lows alike,...

Don't forget to breathe now that the credits rolled!
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 4 featured a horrifying shootout.
Stabler racing toward a dark house where men lurked in the shadows with machine guns, a surprise twist, and an unexpected injury all got my adrenalin pumping. How about you?
The shootout was the climax of a riveting episode.
The situation at the Stabler family home paralleled Kiki's resentment and foolish sabotage of the plan to go into witness protection, adding to the tension. I couldn't decide which part of the hour fascinated me more: the case or the family stuff -- and that's unusual.
Stabler's issues with Randall, Eli's resentment that his father is always working, and Bernie's cognitive decline all came to a head at once.
Elliot Stabler has been the family's black sheep for a while, and these exchanges made that clear.
Not only did he know nothing...

Reyes and Jet's relationship went from annoying to compelling in an hour.
On Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 3, Jet's feelings went deeper than she admitted, contributing to a chaotic undercover situation. And Reyes getting out of control was one of the scariest moments!
This relationship might have been an unhealthy way of dealing with the aftermath of Whelan's death, but it led to a compelling subplot during a complicated case.
Jet and Reyes hooking up had a bad idea written all over it for too many reasons, so I was waiting for this stupid relationship to end.
Yet somehow, all the beats were just right, and the resolution of this mess kept me glued to the screen. Instead of tired TV tropes around affairs between cops, the writers deftly weaved their relationship woes into the main plot.

In all the years Stabler has been a fixture in the Law & Order universe, he never mentioned his brother.
After meeting Randall on Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 2, we know why.
Randall gave off seriously annoying vibes, seemed to be in a constant battle to one-up Elliot, and was ill-prepared to deal with Mama Stabler's dementia. After an hour with him, I'm ready for him to go back to wherever he came from!
I'm not any more sure why Stabler's mother felt she needed Randall than she seemed to be. So far, he's been nothing but obnoxious.
He also seems to look down on Stabler for being a cop, accusing him of never being around for his family. Meanwhile, Elliot has been the one who has been there dealing with their mother's dementia (even if he did have to disappear whenever he went undercover.)

Tamara Tunie is back in the Law & Order franchise this week with her guest spot on Organized Crime, reuniting her with Christopher Meloni (Detective Elliot Stabler) after 12 years. Tunie debuted as medical examiner Melinda Warner in Svu Season 2 and became a series regular in Season 7. She exited in Season 12 (the last time Meloni appeared on Svu before the launch of the spinoff) but continued to make guest spots. She was last seen in Svu‘s 500th episode in 2021. In the January 25 Organized Crime episode, “Deliver Us From Evil,” after a deadly bombing claims the life of a spiritual leader, Stabler meets with an officer who’s convinced the crime is part of a larger conspiracy. Tensions rise within the task force as Jet (Ainsley Seiger) struggles to get her team on board with Vargas’ (Tate Ellington) program. Plus, Stabler welcomes his older brother Randall (Dean Norris) to town. Below,...

The Svu squad room should be a safe place for survivors to get justice -- but this one is anything but.
An armed and angry victim caused so many needless deaths on Law & Order: Svu Season 12 Episode 24 that Stabler turned in his walking papers. And now, a decade later, the squad room is again the focal point of a violent attack.
Spoilers for Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 2 point to a chaotic scene, with armed assailants throwing chairs through windows and attacking staff while Benson calls for backup. But could the violence be the opening for the Law & Order: Organized Crime crossover that Bensler fans want?
We haven't heard any official news about a crossover, but clues have already suggested one could be coming down the pike.
Most significantly, Stabler viewed part of the press conference McGrath called following the discovery of a long-missing girl, and Carisi's obnoxious...

Amidst the rapid-fire shots of the newest trailer for Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans have a lot to take in. The show looks to be incredibly faithful to the original Nickelodeon animated series. The outfits are bright and colorful. The bending has deliberate movements that echo the martial arts of the show. Fan-favorite side characters like Bumi, Jet, June, and more all make appearances.
Perhaps most importantly to fans, the trailer makes it seem as though the show gets the dramatic storytelling of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The original series always managed to impress audiences of all ages with taking a show “for kids” and making it some of the best drama ever put on TV, with scenes of incredible weight and substance. This trailer understands how serious Avatar can be.
But it also hints that it understands something even more critical for any adaptation of the series.

Change is always difficult, and doubly so if your name's Elliot Stabler.
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 Episode 1 began with the oft-repeated beat of Stabler getting into trouble on an undercover mission.
But things started to get interesting once Stabler returned to the office and met the new AI guy.
Unsurprisingly, Jet was cool with the new tech, while Reyes and Stabler had doubts. However, Vargas and his software open storyline possibilities while reflecting trends in real-life policing.
I was glad that Jet and Bell understood that AI is morally neutral -- it's a tool, and whether it's helpful or harmful depends on the data it's fed and what its capabilities are used for.
Whether anyone likes it or not, AI is here to stay -- and human rights advocates fear police could misuse it. That alone makes this storyline worth it; Organized Crime could explore all facets of this issue.

In the season three finale of Law & Order: Organized Crime, fans were shocked when Detective Jamie Whelan was shot in the neck and killed off after the bullet went through his spine. The injury had Whelan convinced he would never walk again as he lost all feeling in his upper and lower body, despite Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger) and Bobby Reyes’ (Rick Gonzalez) assurance that he would be okay. After hearing Jet say that she loves him over the phone, he asks Reyes to let him go, insisting that he can’t and won’t live this way.
Of course, Reyes refuses to disconnect the plugs, but when he leaves the room so that Whelan’s father could visit, it seems that his father did exactly what his son asked for. We see the doctors rush in...

Movies that spawn from anime series tend to be a mixed bag in terms of quality, since the fact that they mostly function as episodes with bigger duration has frequently proven an issue. This however, is not the case with “Cowboy Bepop the Movie” with director Shinichiro Watanabe following the recipe of the original, iconic series, which aimed at each episode functioning as a short movie. The result, in a story that is placed between episodes 22 and 23 of “Cowboy Bepop”, is exceptional, with the movie being of at least equal quality with the series.
