Novak Djokovic's coach, Goran Ivanisevic, is not worried about the wrist injury that bothered his player at the 2024 United Cup.
Djokovic signed up for the United Cup to get ready for the Australian Open by playing a few matches, and he did that. He won his first match comfortably to start the event and then added another win over Jiri Lehecka.
That one came with a wrist problem that bothered him for much of the match and required several medical interventions. After the match, Djokovic played it down, explaining that a problem does exist, but it's not a huge problem.
It proved a problem against Alex de Minaur in the next match as he struggled greatly to exert any kind of pressure and was ultimately beaten in two sets. It was a very disappointing outing but also very worrying for his fans.

2011 BBC World Sport Star of the Year winner Novak Djokovic has missed out on the award this year, with the accolade going to a younger sports player.
Djokovic, who topped the year-end tennis prize money rankings, was included on the six-person shortlist after his incredible 2023 season. He won three Grand Slams and the Atp Finals and was just a set away from winning the Calendar Grand Slam at Wimbledon.
The Serbian legend achieving those incredible feats at the age of 36 is unprecedented in men's tennis. Such an extraordinary level of excellence meant many thought a second BBC World Sport Star of the Year award was a possibility.
However, Djokovic did not even make the top three for the accolade from the six-person shortlist. He joined Olympic Gymnastics gold medallist Simone Biles and Spain's World Cup winner Aitana Bonmati in missing out on the top three.
The award was given to footballer Erling Haaland.

The 2023 tennis season is in the rearview mirror, and tennis fans are already looking ahead to the new season that is set to kick off in less than a month.
Some of the intriguing talking points include the return to full fitness of Rafael Nadal, the record-chasing Novak Djokovic gunning for the Golden Slam, and the Atp's exciting young trio of Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, and Jannik Sinner possibly causing a regime change at the top.

Novak Djokovic's coach, Goran Ivanisevic, did not win the Atp's 2023 Coach of the Year award, and many were upset about it, including the Serbian himself.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion had one of the best seasons in his career, with his coach Ivanisevic guiding him along the way. However, it was Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi who won the Coach of the Year award, as they led Jannik Sinner during the 2023 season.
Immediately after the award was announced, many fans were enraged by the fact that it wasn't Djokovic's coach who got the award. Their rage was later supported by Djokovic as he also hit out at the Atp in a social media post.
But was Ivanisevic really snubbed when it comes to the Coach of the Year award, or was it given in-line with the past seasons and former winners? Well, let's look at the history.

Novak Djokovic praised Jannik Sinner's team for winning the Atp Coach of the Year Award but also questioned why his own coach, Goran Ivanisevic was not considered.
Ivanisevic has supported Djokovic throughout a sensational 2023 campaign, where the Serbian player won three of the four Grand Slams and posted the highest Atp win rate. However, Ivanisevic did not receive the Coach of the Year Award, which instead went to Sinner's coaching pair of Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi.
Djokovic has since reacted on his official Instagram channel, posting congratulations for coaches Cahill and Vagnozzi. But, the Atp number one also addressed Ivanisevic and asked what more the former Croatian player turned coach could do to win the accolade.
"Congratulations to Darren and Simone for a great season with Jannik."

They say that behind every successful man there is a woman, and that appears to be the case also for Novak Djokovic, who had yet another historic season on the Atp Tour.
The 2023 season will be one of the years that the Serbian legend will remember. He won three out of four Grand Slam tournaments, and finished the year as the world no. 1 in the Atp Rankings.
But all of the success wouldn't be possible without his team, and most importantly, without his family and loving wife, Jelena, who supports him on every step of the journey.
That's why, after the season, Djokovic wrote an emotional letter to his wife, where he thanked her for being "the best mother" while he was making history of the sport.

It is the Atp's year-end Awards Week, but surprisingly, Novak Djokovic and his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, are not collecting any trophies.
Djokovic was the Atp's most consistent performer last season, tallying a higher winning rate than any other player and lifting seven titles - the most garnered by a single player in 2023 - despite only appearing in 12 Atp tournaments.
Djokovic decimated the field at all the most important tournaments, winning three of the four Grand Slams this year and breaking a two-man tie with Roger Federer at the Atp Finals, where he scooped his 7th championship.
However, Djokovic was not in control of the Atp's awards this week, which honors the standout players and coaches at the end of the season. He also did not have the significant backing of the fans and fellow coaches who voted in some of these award categories.

Novak Djokovic is arguably the best tennis player of all time, which makes coaching him arguably the hardest coaching job of all time.
Imagine being a coach of the player who is arguably the best tennis player to have ever lived. What if you even say to him that he already doesn't know? Obviously, it's not that simple because Goran Ivanisevic is able to spot something Djokovic is not able to spot in real-time.
Input is always valuable, even though Djokovic proved himself to be the ultimate problem solver over the course of his career. Ivanisevic doesn't give too many interviews, but generally, when he does, he talks about Djokovic.
In a recent talk, he spoke about the dynamic between the coach and the player because it's not always smooth.

Goran Ivanisevic has shed light on the brutally demanding job he's got on his hands coaching World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.
There is probably no superlative that perfectly describes Djokovic more than greatness. Yet, Ivanisevic has been tasked to improve on a brilliant mind that is almost tactically flawless on a tennis court. For all of Djokovic's hustle and success, losing is just not part of any pre-match conversation with his coaching team.
So on the rare occasion it happens (occurred seven times in 2023), it is a "torturous" environment as the Croat puts it. Djokovic has set the bar so high that very few on the Atp Tour can dare to jump and touch it but still demands the very best out of himself and his supporting cast.
In a fascinating insight shared on We Are Tennis, into life behind the scenes, Ivanisevic was symbolic of how Djokovic stretches every limb...

Novak Djokovic has become the first tennis player in history to amass $180 million in career prize money thanks to his 7th Atp Finals title win last weekend.
The Serbian star defeated Jannik Sinner in the championship match in Turin, exacting revenge on his group-stage defeat, and pocketed the second-largest paycheck in Atp history amounting to $4,411,500. Had he gone undefeated he would have broken his own record from last year when he won close to $5 million.
Djokovic's success hasn't just come from winning titles, but he is being paid handsomely for his efforts. He has been regularly advocating for efficiency when it comes to his current purple patch that has seen him notch seven Atp titles in 2023 - the most by any player.
Djokovic has played just 12 Atp events, the fewest among the majority of top players, but still topped the list in terms of titles won and season prize money.

Novak Djokovic's coach, Goran Ivanisevic, is excited about Rafael Nadal's comeback next year, calling it the 'best news in tennis.'
Rafael Nadal is set to come back to the Atp Tour in 2024 even though we don't really know when. According to some reports from Spain, it should happen at the 2024 Australian Open, but we'll have to wait and see whether it truly happens.
The Spaniard has been practicing for a while and has admitted to wanting to come back as soon as possible, and he's hardly the only one.

Novak Djokovic didn't play the best round-robin stage at the 2023 Atp Finals, but the best version of the Serbian showed up in the semi-final and final, and his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, knew it would happen.
Novak Djokovic went undefeated at the Atp Finals last year, but that didn't happen this year. He played a pretty good round-robin stage, winning two matches but losing one, which was enough to advance to the semi-finals.

Novak Djokovic confirmed the reported split from his longtime agent, Edoardo Artaldi, stating they decided to go "different ways."
In mid-September, a week after Djokovic won a record-tying 24th Grand Slam at the US Open , Serbian journalist Sasa Ozmo was the first to verify the rumor that the 36-year-old had parted company with Artaldi's management team, which includes his wife, Elena Capellaro, both Italian citizens.
Artaldi has worked with the Serbian ace since early 2008, overseeing Djokovic's most successful stint and dominance of men's tennis. Artaldi and his wife, Elena, witnessed all but one of Djokovic's Grand Slam wins.
Djokovic stated that they'll still stay friends, but have ended their professional long-term association which has lasted 15 years. Initially, Ozmo reported that it remains to be seen if Artaldi will be given a different role in the team, but the Serbian tennis legend is not looking to retain his services.

While Rafael Nadal might historically be Novak Djokovic 's biggest rival, right now, it's actually Carlos Alcaraz , according to the Serbian's coach Goran Ivanisevic .
Novak Djokovic has been the best player this year, winning three of the four Grand Slams this year . He's number one on the Atp Tour right now and has a pretty decent shot of finishing the year as world number one as well.
The player who could disrupt all of that is Carlos Alcaraz, though he'll need a special finish to the year. The Spaniard has been quite spectacular this year, winning Wimbledon by beating Djokovic and positioning himself as his biggest threat.
Ivanisevic would agree with that as he sees Alcaraz as the true rival of Djokovic, the player closest to beating him.

Novak Djokovic 's coach, Goran Ivanisevic , has lifted the lid on his working relationship with the 24-time Grand Slam champion, joking that he's always been the fall guy when things go wrong.
Djokovic and Ivanisevic began their alliance in the middle of 2019, with the Croat revealing at the time, it was an unexpected call. His guidance and influence over Djokovic at this stage of his career is largely understated.
Djokovic received massive backlash for appointing Ivanisevic in the early days of their partnership, majorly from Serbian newspapers, for reasons unrelated to tennis.
But as success flowed, the criticism vanished. Ivanisevic oversaw the eighth Grand Slam win in Djokovic'c box at last month's US Open, where his charge defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final .
It was the 24th major title of an illustrious career, a feat Ivanisevic called "one of the biggest achievements in sports" in a press conference in New York.

Goran Ivanisevic candidly told reporters that Novak Djokovic 's record 24 Grand Slam wins transcended far beyond tennis, calling it 'one of the biggest achievements in sports history.'
The Croat, who has coached Djokovic since 2019, oversaw an eighth Grand Slam title win under their partnership when the Serbian downed Russia's Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to win a record-tying 24th Grand Slam triumph.
Djokovic ended his Grand Slam season in 2023 lifting three of the tennis' most coveted trophies and finishing runner-up in the fourth. Djokovic is the first player to win a hat-trick of Grand Slams in the same season on four occasions .
It was a proud moment for Ivanisevic, who under his tutelage, Djokovic continues to enjoy his most productive stint as a player. So when the Croatian former Atp No. 2 entered the press room , he did not hold back in making a telling admission about a man he calls 'a one-of-a-kind'.
The Croat, who has coached Djokovic since 2019, oversaw an eighth Grand Slam title win under their partnership when the Serbian downed Russia's Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to win a record-tying 24th Grand Slam triumph.

Novak Djokovic 's coach, Goran Ivanisevic has shed light on the Serbian's upcoming schedule for the end of the Atp season.
Throughout 2023, Djokovic has been pretty selective with his tournament entries, and much of his preparation has been geared towards recovery and targeting the Grand Slams. Overall, the 36-year-old has played in nine competitions and won four, including his 24th career Grand Slam at the US Open last time out .
It hasn't been the most intense schedule for Djokovic so far, and it appears as though he will play a few more hand-picked events before the Atp Finals in Turin in November. When speaking to Sport Klub, Ivanisevic confirmed that Djokovic would head to the Davis Cup next week and effectively said the Serbian has just one potential tournament in him before the Atp Finals .
"My future is to go for knee surgery. As for Novak, I know he is going to the Davis Cup.

Novak Djokovic made a stunning revelation when asked about his opinion regarding the greatest sportsperson of all time in the wake of his US Open triumph last Sunday.
Djokovic won his fourth US Open, simultaneously putting him on level terms with Margaret Court's all-time Grand Slam record of 24 titles. On the men's side , Djokovic is two clear of his great rival Rafael Nadal and has four more titles than retired legend Roger Federer.
Statistically, Djokovic is unequivocally the greatest tennis player in history, amassing record numbers and showing no signs of wear and tear. Even at 36, he continues to conjure biology-defying feats and it feels like he has the best years patently ahead of him.
His coach Goran Ivanisevic speaks fondly of his long-term ambitions, saying that Djokovic is setting sights on any eye-sahttering sixth appearance at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. Ivanisevic states that Djokovic is...

Goran Ivanisevic , the coach of Novak Djokovic , shed light on the Serbian's occasional struggles with his serve during the tournament and how he manages to aid his cause.
Ivanisevic, a former Grand Slam winner himself, and one of the best servers in his heyday, has played a massive part in working on the subtle details of Djokovic's serve. The Serbian has previously lauded the importance of Ivanisevic's impact behind the scenes when it comes to his serve.
But throughout the 2023 US Open , Djokovic struggled with his ball toss and generally his serve and engaged in a tetchy affair with his coaching box. On-court coaching is allowed these days, and Djokovic previously stated that he demands the most focus from his team and tries to engage with them while on the court .

Novak Djokovic 's coach, Goran Ivanisevic , revealed that the Serbian quickly forgot about the Wimbledon defeat.
Novak Djokovic is a very intense tennis player, and you wouldn't think that he enjoys his time on the court unless he smiles. He's just very focused on the task at hand and wants to do his best at all times, which puts him in a state of stress.
Even though his US Open match against Daniil Medvedev was largely going his way he had a few outbursts towards his box, but it's nothing new. He's talked about that before , and his coach Ivanisevic joked about his crankiness after the match.
He's always cranky on the court. Doesn't matter Wimbledon. (Smiling.) We came to Cincinnati. It was not even mentioned one time that Wimbledon. It's past. When you lose it's past. You know you can't get it back. That day Carlos was better player,...

After his 2023 US Open win, Novak Djokovic was in very high spirits, joking that he'll leave the sport in about 23 or 24 years.
It's not the first time Djokovic joked about something like that, as he once famously referred to Rafael Nadal and himself as the next-gen. It's all jokes, but don't be fooled by the wording because you don't get to 24 Grand Slams without being a ruthless competitor.
Both Nadal and him are just that, and it's why they created as much tennis history as they did. It's incredible when you're able to compete with players who are a decade younger than you. This time around, he took the joke even further about leaving the sport in about 20 years when new players came in and took over.

Novak Djokovic 's coach said that the Serbian, apparently, wants to play at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Novak Djokovic just won his 24th Grand Slam trophy by beating Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 US Open final, and right now, anything seems possible. As Medvedev said during the trophy ceremony, it's pretty amazing that the Serbian is still around, and not only that, but also clearly outplaying everyone and still winning the biggest trophies.
The Olympics in Paris next year is a given, but according to Goran Ivanisevic , the Serbian wants to play in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles as well. Whether that's likely or not, it's not hard to imagine, considering that he's still one of the best on the Atp Tour with almost no signs of slowing down.

Nick Kyrgios has hit back at a journalist who asked Novak Djokovic about why he is so harsh on his team at the 2023 US Open .
Djokovic continued his US Open run on Tuesday with a straight-set victory against home player Taylor Fritz . The 23-time Grand Slam champion has raced to the semi-finals of the US Open in 2023, dropping just two sets across his five matches so far.
Despite his solid performances, Djokovic is a perfectionist and is often seen arguing with his coaching team during matches. The 36-year-old was questioned on the issue during his post-match conference after beating Fritz, and Kyrgios took to his Twitter channel to call out the reporter for being short-sighted.

The Atp 's Next Generation of superstars is finally living up to the hype and potential, and the updated rankings on Monday will be a testament to this fact.
Two 20-year-olds will be ranked in the world's Top four of the Atp Rankings for the first time since 1992. One of them is Carlos Alcaraz , the current No. 1 who has held the tennis tour on his palms this year , and the other is a young man who is equally as precocious - Holger Rune .

Jannik Sinner has finally done it, the Italian is an Atp 1000 champion after he defeated Alex de Minaur in the 2023 Canadian Open final in Toronto .
The Italian has been searching for that elusive big trophy for a while now, and after failing to do it in Miami against Hurkacz in 2021, he finally did it. It's been an interesting event, with many of the top seeds crashing out. Sinner played confident tennis from start to finish and enjoyed a pretty easy draw for much of the event.
His colleagues really helped him out in that regard, and it's why he was heavily favoured against de Minaur in the final. They played twice before the match, and Sinner won both times because the matchup favours him. De Minaur tends to have issues against players that are very good ball strikers, and that's essentially what Sinner does.

The coach of Novak Djokovic , Goran Ivanisevic , believes that Jannik Sinner is the only threat to Carlos Alcaraz at the 2023 US Open along with the Serb.
Djokovic will be making a return to the US Open this year after not being able to play for a few years. The Serbian last played in 2021 when he lost to Daniil Medvedev in the final, and he will be returning with revenge on his mind this year, especially after letting Wimbledon slip through his fingers , but there will be one man standing in his way.
In his absence, Alcaraz lifted the trophy , and he'll be the defending champion. Djokovic would certainly enjoy a chance to dethrone him, and in Ivanisevic's mind, it's another youngster, Jannik Sinner, that is the biggest threat to the Spaniard, along with Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic 's coach Goran Ivanisevic has calmed reports of in-match arguments between himself and the Serbian player.
Sometimes, the occasion of a Grand Slam final can be too much for even the best players to handle. In Djokovic's 2023 Wimbledon final loss against Carlos Alcaraz, the 23-time Grand Slam champion destroyed his racquet against the net post at a crucial stage in a tense fifth and final set.
Often, the Serbian player can be seen in disagreement with his coaching box too, most noticeably with coach Ivanisevic. However, the Croatian former Atp player has downplayed any tension between himself and Djokovic, explaining to Serbian media that the 36-year-old is simply displaying passion and intensity.
"No, that's nonsense. First of all, I can't hear half of what he says. These are huge courts, the crowd is shouting and you can't hear. It doesn't bother me, it's emotions, he has to get it out somehow.

Novak Djokovic 's coach Goran Ivanisevic has provided an update on the 23-time Grand Slam winner's schedule ahead of the US Open .
Djokovic's last match was the five-set epic against Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, which the Serbian eventually lost. Rather than jumping straight back into the action, Djokovic decided to take a break and withdrew from the 2023 Canadian Open in Toronto due to fatigue.
However, the 36-year-old is expected to get back on the court at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters as he starts to increase his preparations for a US Open return. Also, according to Ivanisevic, during an interview with Sportske Novosti , Djokovic has already begun his work towards the US Open in September.
"He had a bit of a break, but now the preparations for the US tour are starting. Preparations begin at the end of the week, he's slowly starting with the fitness, and then the tennis.

Patrick Mouratoglou doesn't like Carlos Alcaraz being labeled as part of the big three because that era of tennis is over.
The era obviously ended with the retirement of Roger Federer, a vital part of the Big Three narrative. Alcaraz himself wouldn't like to be included in that, as he always speaks about his desire to carve out his own legacy on the Atp Tour.
Rather than be the next someone the Spaniard wants to be the first Carlos Alcaraz . Mouratoglou is supportive of that as he explained in a recent video he posted on his Instagram page where he talked about eras and what Alcaraz has been able to do.
I don't like Big Three label for [Carlos] Alcaraz. We are in a different era, there is no more Big Three anyway. And there is Novak whose dominating the game and then Carlos comes in, wins two Grand Slams at 20 years old,...

The coach of Novak Djokovic , Goran Ivanisevic , spoke about the upcoming era of tennis calling it a very interesting time.
Novak Djokovic last played at Wimbledon, where she suffered a very painful loss to Carlos Alcaraz which Ivanisevic saw up close. They, as a team, couldn't find a solution for Alcaraz whom they just outsmarted a month before in Paris.
It's not the end of an era, according to some , but it certainly signaled the start of something new, even though we don't know what it is. Will Alcaraz, dominate ? Will Djokovic bounce back? It's too hard to tell though Ivansevic highlight praised Alcaraz, calling his future very bright.
He is a mixture of all three and he has an incredible future ahead of him. If he continues like this, he has an incredible future ahead of him. He does it all with a smile, and we have the opportunity...

The 2023 Wimbledon Championships triumph was quite a significant one for Carlos Alcaraz in many ways, including prize money.
Carlos Alcaraz has gotten quite used to playing strong tennis and winning trophies, as the Spaniard has 12 Atp trophies so far in his career. It all started back in 2021 when he made the final of the Croatia Open in Umag and defeated Richard Gasquet to win his maiden Atp trophy.
Since then Alcaraz has been on a mission adding 5 more trophies in 2022 including his maiden Grand Slam trophy at the US Open . This year hasn't seen him slow down as he already added six trophies to that tally including the recent Wimbledon.
It's still only July and Alcaraz is certainly expected to add a few more and all that winning is earning him a lot of money. A fan favourite and rising star in the world of tennis, Alcaraz will get plenty...

Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, probably the most iconic player in the history of the game.
Federer's impact on tennis is incredible. From the legendary career that he crafted to the global impact, he had as the 'perfect' ambassador to the sport. His career inspired many of the players we have today with the vast majority considering him as their idol. It's why some consider him the greatest of all time even though stats might say it's somebody else.
Federer's arrival in tennis catapulted the sport to new heights becoming a global phenomenon. No player was ever as popular as Federer is and that wide support is not wavering even now a year after his retirement. It's been a year but a busy year for Federer who still has all eyeballs on himself wherever he goes.

Novak Djokovic is currently focusing on Wimbledon, and those thoughts might get occupied with the 'Calendar Slam' if he wins at Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic won both grand slams this year so far. He's likely to win Wimbledon simply because he's won it 7 times so far and his Roland Garros run proved that he's still the best against the current tennis landscape. That only gets amplified on grass because there will be only one player in London that has ever beaten him on a grass court before .
If he does win Wimbledon, he'll be only the US Open away from completing the calendar grand slam - something that hasn't been done since Rod Laver. He's not thinking about it right now but he's certainly capable of doing so according to his own coach Goran Ivanisevic.
Another former coach Boris Becker warned him against repeating the mistake he did the last time...

Novak Djokovic is an intense guy which you need to if you want to be considered one of the best in anything, let alone a very competitive sport.
Novak Djokovic finally saw his name undisputedly rank ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal by winning his 23rd grand slam trophy . He's now alone at the top of most grand slam trophies won by a man ever with a chance to match Margaret Court's 24 at Wimbledon in a few weeks.
It's an incredible achievement for Djokovic who has never been considered the biggest talent ever. Very talented yes, but all of what is achieved is the product of torturous amounts of work and practice and a lot of sacrifice. Some of that torture has to be endured by his team as well which he recognised during the trophy ceremony.

Novak Djokovic 's coach Goran Ivanisevic has backed Rafael Nadal to return to action and push for Grand Slams once again in the future.
Nadal missed out on defending his 2022 title at this season's Roland Garros , while Djokovic took full advantage of the Spanish player's absence and notched a record 23rd Grand Slam title . However, there was no bitterness from Nadal towards his rival as the 37-year-old, who remains on 22 career Grand Slam titles, shared his congratulations with Djokovic after the French Open win.
Currently, Nadal remains out of action following a recent surgery and he is unlikely to return to the court before the end of the 2023 season.
