Before Jensen Ackles surprised the world with the most fantastic performance as Soldier Boy in The Boys, fans wanted the actor to take on a live-action superhero role. While the Supernatural star isn’t new to playing a superhero, especially since his role as the Caped Crusader in the DC Animated Universe. However, one role had rumors going about left and right.

Jensen Ackles was rumored to have auditioned for the role of Captain America, one that evidently went to Chris Evans. Once the rumors started flying around, fans were jumping up and down wanting to see the actor take on the shield one way or another. The only way they were able to was because of Eric Kripke’s series. However, there may be another way.

Batman as a character has some amazing storylines that would make perfect sense to be adapted into an animated film. Initially, Bruce Timm thought that there was no way it was possible to adapt Batman: Under the Hood, an arc in the comics that served as the sequel to Death in the Family, which infamously killed off Jason Todd, who was serving Batman as his Robin after Dick Grayson’s departure.
Death in the Family
Bruce Timm, speaking to Animation World Network, talked about how he and Alan Burnett first came across the comic with the intention of adapting it. The problem started when the duo realized the amount of work it would take to just set up the story, and the various characters that were making an appearance as the narrative unfolded.
However, the pitch for the film was what ended up convincing the duo to go ahead with it.

This article contains spoilers for "X-Men '97."
I'm the precise age to have been introduced to the Marvel Universe by animation and film. Back then in the bygone 2000s, superhero movies never crossed over and the best that us wee fans could hope for was, say, the X-Men playing guest star on "Spider-Man" for an episode or two. I've now evolved into a curmudgeon who thinks superhero cinema could use more individuality and less interconnectivity, but I digress.
All this is to say that "X-Men '97" episode 7, "Bright Eyes," featured the sort of brief guest appearance that would've made 10-year-old me super-excited: Rogue meets Captain America (Josh Keaton). You might recall that Cap appeared back in the original "X-Men" cartoon; the season 5 episode, "Old Soldiers," showed him and Wolverine on a mission together in World War II. We've known for two weeks that Cap would be showing up (thanks to...

This Spider-Man article contains spoilers.
Every comic book fan knows about the night that Gwen Stacy died. The two-part story from 1973’s Amazing Spider-Man #121–122 stands as a watershed moment in comics, not only upping the stakes of Spider-Man’s inability to balance his personal and heroic lives, but also giving permission for superhero comics to push the envelope in a way that had not been done since the pre-Comics Code days.
For most of Spider-Man’s history, Gwen fell into the same category as Thomas and Martha Wayne or (pre-Superboy punch) Jason Todd. She existed only to die, to give tragic backstory to our hero. Decades before Major Force killed Alex DeWitt in Green Lantern #54, Gwen was the patron saint of fridged girlfriends. Her death hangs over the entire story of Spider-Man, even when played by the sparkling Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man movies. The writers know we expect...

Alan Moore is a legend. The comics that he has created have become some of the most significant in DC Studios, having been behind iconic works like Batman: The Killing Joke, Night Olympics, and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. He has a reputation for creating works that are the perfect blend of literary genius and mainstream comics.
Justice League Unlimited
Despite all of the iconic works he created, the writer famously hated his works being adapted onto the screen. It did not matter if it was live-action, animation, or retellings; if they were using his comics as source material, he wanted nothing to do with it.
Suggested“It was all white people like me”: HBO Didn’t Want Damon Lindelof to Unmask One Watchmen Character That Alan Moore Didn’t Even Dare To
However, he did make one exception for an episode in the Dcau series, Justice League Unlimited.

Ever since the Dceu came to an end, fans have been going wild with speculation about who could be playing the new versions of the DC superheroes appearing in James Gunn’s Dcu. While we already know about some, thanks to Superman currently being in production, some of the key characters are yet to be cast. One of them is the other half of The World’s Finest – the Caped Crusader, Batman.
Jensen Ackles played the role of the titular superhero in Batman: The Last Halloween

The animated show Teen Titans was a classic that introduced a whole new generation to the eponymous group of superheroes from DC Comics. Created by Glen Murakami, the show aired from 2003 to 2009, spanning five seasons and multiple spinoffs and movies. The show has been regarded as a classic among other DC animated media such as Batman: The Animated Series.
The show was known for its treatment of Robin as a solo hero rather than a sidekick to Batman, its anime-inspired tone, and its mature treatment of the characters. One of the major changes that Murakami made with the show was to not give any secret identities to the superheroes as he wanted children to identify with their characteristics rather than their identities.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 9, "The Harbinger."
Asajj Ventress is dead.
At least, that's what we all assumed right up until the trailer dropped for the final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch."
Like many characters on the animated "Clone Wars" TV series, Asajj Ventress -- the wicked Sith assassin turned morally ambiguous bounty hunter -- was a victim of the show's initial cancellation prior to its revival on Disney+. Her plotline was never quite finished, though there were episodes planned to wrap her story up. Those episodes were in pre-production and Lucasfilm even showed some of their unfinished story reels at conventions, but any hope of actually getting to see those episodes quickly fizzled.
Eventually, the scripts for those episodes were handed over to Lucasfilm's book division, and author Christie Golden was given the task of bringing them to life in novel form.

"Young Justice" is one of the best superhero shows ever made. Building on the path carved by the work of Bruce Timm with "Justice League," "Batman: The Animated Series," and more, this animated series draws from every corner of the DC universe, from Jack Kirby's trippy Fourth Wall to Golden Age characters and much more. The show offered episodic storytelling, with most episodes revolving around a specific mission, while also advancing an overarching story with big consequences.
Perhaps the show's biggest achievement is one that we still haven't seen properly replicated in live-action — the idea of legacy. Throughout the current four seasons of "Young Justice" (we still don't know where and if the show fits James Gunn's DC Universe), we see heroes retire and pass on their mantle to new generations who carry on their heroic legacy. We see that with Jason Todd becoming Robin after Dick Grayson became Nightwing,...

When making The Dark Knight films, Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan had a pact that they would walk away if they were fortunate enough to make three films. The pair stayed true to this vision and concluded their Batman adventure after The Dark Knight Rises. But if Nolan were to make a potential fourth film in the series, one fan had the perfect villain and actor suggestion for the Oppenheimer director.
Fan creates a trailer for a potential fourth film in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy
The fan made a concept trailer in 2012 with clips from previous films and chose The Riddler as the villain for the film. The fan’s choice of actor to play The Riddler was the Oscar-winning actor Casey Affleck. While the fan’s idea of a fourth film never came to fruition, it still has a lot of potential.

The Dark Knight is one of those films that does not just stand out in the genre that it exists in but also stands out among films in general. So it is no wonder that the film has inspired countless actors to take a shot in the industry. Timothée Chalamet is one such actor, whose love for acting came from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Quick, name a superhero with a more cynical perspective than Batman. Okay, sure there’s Spawn, but I meant in mainstream comics. Yeah, Punisher, but how about in DC Comics? Sure, there’s John Constantine. But I mean a character less suitable for Christmas stories. What’s that you say? Constantine once crushed the bones of St. Nicolas and snorted them into a powder? And Lobo murdered Santa?
Okay, the point is that Batman doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would make for a good Christmas story. Spider-Man can deliver presents while swinging across New York City and Superman has carried Santa’s slay more than once, but Mr. Vengeance doesn’t even like leaving Gotham. Why would he bother with the North Pole?
And yet, Batman has been at the center of several Christmas stories over the year, and some of them are pretty great. Here...

Viewers of Merry Little Batman meet Damian Wayne as the lovable scamp who chases his cat Selina through the halls of stately Wayne Manor, decked in a blanket for a cape and a brown paper bag for a cowl, just like his dear old dad, Batman. The delightful holiday special imagines Damian as a good-hearted soul who wants nothing more than to be like his pop, and doesn’t even get too upset at his father’s overprotective demands. When the Joker returns to Gotham while Batman is trapped in the Arctic, Damian gets his chance to prove that he deserves to be called “Son of the Bat.”
But comic book readers first met Damian under very different circumstances. In a 1987 graphic novel by Mike W. Barr and Jerry Bingham, Batman reluctantly joins forces with eco-terrorist Ra’s al Ghul to take down the assassin Quain. During the alliance, Batman...

It took a very long time for Hollywood to take Marvel Comics seriously, and "Howard the Duck" gets a lot of the blame for that. By the mid-1980s, films like "Star Wars" and "Superman: The Movie" had incited a proper revolution in the film industry. Genres that previously weren't big hits — financially or critically — didn't just make lots of money, but they made movie stars out of actors nobody had previously heard of, and even won awards. All of a sudden, sci-fi/fantasy and pulp heroes weren't just "kids' stuff." They were surefire recipes for four-quadrant success.
But even though Marvel was churning out superhero TV shows like nobody's business — not just Saturday morning cartoons but primetime hits like "The Incredible Hulk" and "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" — Marvel's first big budget foray into live-action theatrical features wasn't based on one of their most iconic costumed crimefighters. Instead it was "Howard the Duck,...

With the new DC Universe taking shape, we’re due to meet fresh versions of classic heroes, including the Dark Knight in The Brave and the Bold. It remains to be seen who will play Batman in the new movie, but Jensen Ackles is ready to take on the role.
There have been rumours that Jensen Ackles might be in the running to play Batman in The Bold and the Brave, and the actor addressed them while speaking at the Jus In Bello Convention in Italy. “Uh, I don’t know. In 1940, Mlj Publishers had a problem. Their standout artist Jack Cole (best known as the creator of Plastic Man) had left the company, abandoning the hit series Pep Comics and its star the Comet. Without Cole’s pencils, the Comet didn’t pop in the same way, and the company needed something drastic to save its sales. So in Pep Comics #17, a thug guns the Comet down, inspiring his brother to become a new hero called the Hangman.
The first superhero death in comic books set the trend for all that followed. Pep killed off the Comet not for any story reason, but because they wanted to goose sales. And not only does his death launch another hero, but he doesn’t stay dead for good — Mlj (now Archie Comics) brought back the Comet in the 1960s and the 1980s, eventually licensing him to DC Comics.

DC Comics have announced a mini-series starring the (supposedly) dead Damian Wayne, set for release later this year, according to an exclusive at the NY Post.
Back in February this year, Damian Wayne, the latest Robin and Batman/Bruce Wayne’s biological son, was killed in the pages of Grant Morrison’s Batman Incorporated #8, an event that was reported on major news networks around the world. Fans of the character mourned the loss and DC ran a brief remembrance series in their Bat-titles called Requiem.

Damian: Son of Batman will be set in the future where an adult Damian is the Batman, in a series that appears to be...

It’s almost too easy to talk about this issue and throw out the cliché adage that a picture is worth a thousand words. In fact, I’m willing to bet in the next couple of a days that a few reviews actually use it. So, I won’t say that but I will say this – Batman and Robin #18 is the best issue of the “Requiem” mini-arc.
This issue has had a lot of hype surrounding it, not only because of Damian Wayne’s death in Batman, Inc #8, but also because of the announcement that it wouldn’t feature a single word. No dialogue, no sound effects, nothing. Now while Tomasi and Gleason found a clever way to get around that, the issue being all art is one of the most powerful and emotional Bat-books in a while. Without a single word of dialogue this issue...

Chicago – With easily the darkest subject matter and most intense level of violence to date in the DC Universe series of PG-13 animated film, “Batman: Under the Red Hood” is far from your typical Saturday morning cartoon. This is morally complex material much closed to “The Dark Knight” than “Batman & Robin,” and it’s a smash success for the franchise, resulting in easily the best installment in years.
Blu-Ray Rating: 4.5/5.0
Like Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight,” “Batman: Under the Red Hood” is about the boundaries of being a superhero when faced with a villain who appears to have none. Just as was done in “The Dark Knight,” the question of whether or not it’s okay to kill a few innocents to get a truly despicable guilty soul comes up again in a riveting story, arguably the best in the history of the DC Universe films. In one of...

Warner Home Video has released the first official clip from from their upcoming new animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood, this is the eighth entry in the series of DC Universe animated original PG-13 movies.
The short clip features an encounter between Batman and Red Hood. In the film, Batman faces his ultimate challenge as the mysterious Red Hood takes Gotham City by firestorm. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up Gotham with the efficiency of Batman, but without following the same ethical code. And when The Joker falls in the balance between the two forces of justice, hard truths are revealed and old wounds are reopened.
This next animated film doesn't looks like Warner Bros. and DC Entertainments best animated work in terms of script, but this is only a short clip. I've also included the trailer as well which shows a little...
