No matter how great a film might be, all of that fine work can be completely undone in the final moments, as filmmakers must decide the most appropriate and dramatically resonant way to bring their story to a close. Writers and directors screw this up all the time, and then sometimes, they go the extra mile and flat-out troll viewers, delivering a provocative ending deliberately intended to infuriate, mystify and have you talking about it for weeks after. These 13 movies, a mixture of terrible, good and brilliant projects, have all baffled audiences ever since they first hit screens, both for better and for worse.
We’ve got relentlessly bleak endings which flew in the face of the expected Hollywood climax, endings that just didn’t know when to say “enough”, endings blatantly trying to shock for the sake of it, and one ending that left us on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

On Friday, I was lucky enough to go on the Harry Potter Studio Tour before it was open to the public and see the exhibit, it wasn’t quiet finished as they were still constructing 4 Privet Drive but this didn’t stop the magic from flowing and this place is truly amazing and a place I will be going back to time and time again, as quoted via J.K Rowling
“the stories we love best do live in us forever, so whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”
Welcomed I was, from the bus driver from Mullany’sBbuses (Mullany’s Harry Potter bus details) to the staff in the studio, I was on my own for this tour and the staff often asked to take my photo of me (which I turned down as I’m...

This is the review of Buried on Pure Movies (directed by Rodrigo Cortés and starring Ryan Reynolds, José Luis García Pérez, Robert Paterson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Ivana Miño, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino and Kali Rocha. For most people, being buried alive is one of the most terrifying situations imaginable This is just what happens to Us truck driver Paul Conroy (Reynolds), buried in a box six feet under the Iraqi desert, with nothing but a trusty lighter and an unreliable mobile phone. After remembering that his convoy was attacked by Iraqi terrorists, he realises he must somehow orchestrate his own rescue.

Buried
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Robert Paterson, Jose Luis Garcia Perez, Stephen Tobolowsky | Written by Chris Sparling | Directed by Rodrigo Cortés
Paul Conroy is not ready to die. But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time. Fighting panic, despair, and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
No Strings Attached – Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline
The Way Back – Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell (limited)
Movie of the Week
The Way Back
The Stars: Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell
The Plot: A group of gulag escapees journey 4,000 miles to their freedom.
The Buzz: This is Director Peter Weir’s latest — that’s enough buzz right there.
In watching the film’s trailer, one gets the feeling that The Way Back is more of an adventure tale than it is a tale about the gulag. But we’re not talking carefree adventure here; this looks to be a story predominantly about survival, and survival in the most brutal of conditions. Knowing the film is based on a true story, combined with the way in which it has been marketed, allows for one to somewhat safely assume a happy ending (otherwise it...

Lionsgate Home Entertainment
Release Date: January 18, 2011
What would you do if you awoke to total blackness, barely able to move or breathe, and completely unaware of your location? What would you do if you soon realized that you're not only unaware of your location, but that you're actually in a wooden coffin, buried within the earth, set to ponder your horrific fate until the moment the last bit of life drifts away from your tormented body?
If you're anything like me, you'd likely slip into an uncontrollable panic wishing only that death would come as quickly as humanly possible. But for Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds), who finds himself in this very position in director Rodrigo Cortés's new thriller, Buried, giving up is not an option.

Does claustrophobia set in easily for you? Then you may want to steer clear of the video aisles of your favorite stores as last year's intense buried alive flick (starring the future Green Lantern) is coming on home.
Being that this is another light week release wise, you don't have too many other options. That is unless you're in the mood for high speed chases featuring coffin-looking vehicles that could end up causing just as much anxiety.
Or maybe you'd just like to find comfort in another Roger Corman fest from a kinder, gentler era - a triple treat that has nothing to do with coffins. Yay!

Chicago – In one of the most unusual settings for a film, actor Ryan Reynolds performs as a one-man tour de force as the only on-screen character in the new film “Buried.” Set in a coffin buried beneath the sands of Iraq, Reynolds conveys the panic, hope and inevitable outcome of a man buried alive and fighting for his very existence.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Reynolds portrays Paul Conroy, an American truck driver who has taken an assignment to provide transport during the Iraq war. When his convoy is ambushed, he is taken alive and kidnapped. As the film opens he awakens in complete darkness. Using the illumination of a cigarette lighter, he determines that he has been buried alive by his captors.
This is confirmed by a ringing mobile phone. The captors have buried with him some survival gear, including some portable lighting and a communications device. When Paul answers, the man on...

Chicago – “Buried” is an unconventional film, a so-called (by director Rodrigo Cortés) impossible film to make. Ryan Reynolds is the only actor on-screen in the whole film, and he plays a man buried alive somewhere in the war zone of Iraq. The story takes place within the coffin underneath the ground, and Reynolds had to convey both the desperation and hope.
Ryan Reynolds is one of the breakout stars of the last several years. Playing mostly leading man roles that have a bit of an edge to them, he takes on the difficult task of projecting a trapped man in Buried with a verve and consistency that was starkly attentive to the panic. He is the only person on screen for entire time, and all emotions flow through him, even the when taking phones calls from the other side.
Director Rodrigo Cortés makes his feature film debut with an amazing visual feat.

“Buried” taps into one of the few remaining stories of the Iraq war: civilians who are taken hostage. Just what makes this one particularly rich with suspense is that it entirely takes place within the condensed and claustrophobic space of a wooden box buried in the ground. Ryan Reynolds gives his best performance ever as Paul Conroy, a truck driver for a contracting firm whose convoy was attacked and who he is captured and buried alive. The movie begins with him in the dark, the only light coming from a Zippo he has on hand and later some green glow sticks. He has been given a cell phone and told by his kidnappers that he must negotiate a five million-dollar ransom from the U.S. or else. Low on oxygen, time and cell...

Lionsgate has been keeping their cards close to their chest in regards to their forthcoming thriller Buried, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq awakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. Ryan Reynolds, Robert Paterson, José Luis García-Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino all star. With most of the film supposedly taking place within a coffin, it's hard to really share new footage with audiences. If you click over to Empire you'll find a new clip that gets even more claustrophobic.

As you (should) already know, the majority of Lionsgate's Buried takes place inside a coffin. Ryan Reynolds plays a U.S. contractor working in Iraq who awakens to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. With the plot keeping the audience nice and confined, there are only so many images that can be released -- inside you'll find another dozen of looks at Reynolds six feet under. Buried arrives in theaters September 24. Directed by Rodrigo Cortes, Robert Paterson, José Luis García-Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino all star.

Lionsgate has dug up a new poster for its upcoming thriller Buried and we've got it for you below. Buried stars Ryan Reynolds and also features Robert Paterson (Sahara), Stephen Tobolowsky (Glee) and Samantha Mathis (Harsh Realm, Grey's Anatomy). It is released in select theaters on September 24th before going nationwide on October 8th.
The new poster makes the most of high praise the film has been receiving from various outlets, including Access Hollywood, comingsoon.net, USA Today and The Times newspaper in the UK. The official synopsis, which we give you below, suggests the potential for Hitchcockian suspense thanks to a story that exploits common fears of confined spaces and being buried alive.
