Violent crime drama Gangs of London is back for a third series, the cast has been confirmed.
After revitalising action cinema with the two astonishing martial arts films in The Raid franchise, Gareth Evans turned to television, co-creating Gangs of London with Matt Flannery in 2019.
A sprawling crime saga, the show follows the Wallace family as they grapple to keep control of their criminal empire. And we’ve had two series of it so far, with plenty of memorable moments to talk about.
The show became known for its notoriously violent action scenes, which are as visceral and gory as anything seen in a big screen slasher. Unsurprisingly, given Evans’ involvement, the work that went into those scenes was really quite something. And now, with season three confirmed and on its way, we wait to see

All Quiet on the Western Front scooped the Best International Feature Film Oscar this evening, after earlier taking the Cinematography trophy and then winning for Production Design and Original Score. Such categories in which it is also nominated, including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay and Sound are still to be unveiled. This is the first time a German title has taken the International Feature prize since 2006’s The Lives of Others.
In accepting the International Feature Oscar, director Edward Berger thanked his collaborators and family, and had special praise for an emotional All Quiet star Felix Kammerer saying, “This was your first movie and you carried us on your shoulders. Without you, none of us would be here.”
The last time Erich Maria Remarque’s classic anti-war novel was made as a theatrical motion picture was nearly a century ago, and it went on to take home Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director.

More than 100 key figures from the UK film and TV industry have signed a letter urging the UK government to take “immediate action” against Iranian authorities for “gross violations of human rights and women’s rights” in their response to the wave of public protests that erupted last year.
The industry leaders, including Barbara Broccoli, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Edgar Wright, are calling for the UK government to “actively campaign to stop the violence used against the protesters in Iran, including an immediate stop to all executions” and “demand the release of all political prisoners in Iran.”
“Enough is enough. If the global community, which the UK is an active and influential member of, does not act firmly, these atrocities will continue,” the letter reads. “We need to sincerely support the people of Iran in their fight for justice and freedom.”

A growing number of figures from the film and TV industry in the U.K. have signed a letter urging British politicians to support the people of Iran as the country faces global condemnation for executing several of those involved in the wave of protests that erupted last year.
The letter, instigated by British-Iranian filmmaker Babak Anvari, calls for members of U.K. parliament to actively campaign for Iran to stop violence against protesters and end all executions, to hold Iran accountable for the “gross violations of human rights and women’s rights,” and to demand that Iran releases all political prisoners.
Among the almost 100 names to have signed the letter, which is still circulating and gathering attention, are Olivia Colman, Martin McDonagh, Jessie Buckley, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Brett Goldstein, Jonathan Pryce, Hugh Bonneville, Richard Curtis, Gillian Anderson, Felicity Jones, George Mackay, Edgar Wright and Hayley Atwell.

Dave Chappelle hosted this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live," which bid farewell to season 1 of "House of the Dragon" with a sketch that thoroughly roasted the Targaryens and their gross family tree. It also used the presence of House Velaryon, who are played by Black actors in the show, as an opportunity to bring back some familiar characters from "Chappelle's Show."
Set a couple of hundred years before the action kicks off in "Game of Thrones," HBO's new prequel series begins near the peak of Targaryen rule in Westeros. Based on George R.R. Martin's book "Fire & Blood," it tells the story of how the Targaryens were torn apart by a great civil war called the Dance of the Dragons, which set in motion the fall from power that ended with Jaime Lannister stabbing the Mad King in the back.

Contains spoilers for episodes 1 and 2 of Gangs of London.
You might have guessed it from the title, but Gangs of London is, well, a show about gangs. This brooding, gothic, not-quite-as-we-know-it version of the UK’s capital city is teaming with them, all jostling violently for their position under the watchful gaze of the shadowy, sinister “Investors”. And with the recent arrival of season two, even more criminal factions have been thrown into the extremely volatile mix.
Created by The Raid’s Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, with the second season overseen by lead director Corin Hardy, Gangs of London is a complex beast. Such is the nature of its intricate plotting, time-jumping narrative and huge cast of characters, it can be difficult to keep up with who’s who. So, let’s break down the gangs of Gangs – who they are, who they’ve pissed off and who they’ve made alliances with…...

Nothing like a good bit of brutal violence on screen. Well, the success of Gangs of London suggests we feel that way at least, as the first season was incredibly popular amongst viewers – and for good reason. This well-crafted show brings together a myriad of interesting characters, compelling storylines, and some fantastic action. People just beating the crap out of others. And the good news is, they’re back for more – and we had the pleasure in taking part in the press junket for the eagerly anticipated second series.
Below you watch our three interviews, in their entirety, with some of the talent behind the show. First up we have lead actor Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù alongside director Corin Hardy, before speaking to two of the more experienced members of the collective in Michelle Fairley & Lucian Msamati. Without a king, pawns scramble for advantage. The first season of Gangs of London – the blistering 2020 mob action-drama from Sky Atlantic – was an electrically violent struggle for power. The murder of Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney), head mafioso among London’s crime families, created a vacuum immediately filled by bloodshed. The series’ sinister twist was that none of the brutal in-fighting mattered at all. Behind the scenes, the city’s strings are pulled by invisible and all-powerful “Investors” – the real kings of the board.
That revelation compels Gangs of London to change shape in season two. Now, it’s a series about survival. It’s still plenty (and balletically) barbaric, but violence isn’t good for business. To that end, the Investors install an enforcer, the eccentric Koba (Waleed Zuaiter), whose brief is to get the bosses back in check. Just in case his villainy is in doubt, Koba polishes off...

It may be a few weeks before the second season of Gangs of London — the ultra-violent crime series created by The Raid filmmaker Gareth Evans — lands on AMC+ in the U.S., but U.K. audiences can now watch the latest blood-soaked, body-count amassing thrill ride through the British capital.
Launching on Comcast’s Sky on Thursday (the first season broke records for the Sky Atlantic channel in 2020), Gangs of London season 2 — once again produced by Pulse Films and Sister — follows a similar theme of rival kingpins and crime families colluding and colliding in their bid for control of London’s underworld, often through the most violent means possible.

Brutal British crime drama Gangs of London is back for a second series on Sky Atlantic and Now, with a release date of 20th October in the UK and 17th November in the US, and it’s looking as dark and gritty as ever.
When the explosive first series launched in April 2020, this story of the turbulent power struggles of London’s criminal underworld – centring on the Wallace family and various other international gangs – was an instant hit, at the time becoming Sky Atlantic’s second-biggest original drama launch behind Chernobyl. As dramas go it’s a thrilling powerhouse of a series, full of epic fight scenes and twisty narrative, and certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted gore-wise.
Now it’s back for a second series, fans will certainly be looking forward to seeing their unanswered questions resolved, as well as being introduced to new players in this savage power game.

Singapore Bans ‘#Lookatme’
Singapore has banned the release of “#LookAtMe,” a feature film by local director Ken Kwek. The InfoComm Media Development Authority said that the film exceeds film classification guidelines because it denigrates a religious community. Supposedly based in true events, the film depicts a man who is offended by a pastor who preaches against homosexuality, but whose behavior contradicts his teachings. The protagonist’s viral video about the aberrant priest lands him in jail, causing the man’s gay identical twin to fight for justice.
“#LookAtMe,” premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival and local media report that the film has been selected for next month’s Singapore International Film Festival. But the Imda ruling means that it cannot now be shown in any form in Singapore unless Kwek is successful with an appeal.

“Knives Out 2” isn’t the only murder mystery hitting theaters later this year, as Searchlight Pictures has released the first trailer for “See How They Run” that finds Oscar winner Sam Rockwell and Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan investigating a suspicious murder in 1950s London.
Written by Mark Chappell (“Flaked”) and directed by Tom George (“This Country”), “See How Thy Run” takes place in the West End where plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after the film’s Hollywood director (played by Adrien Brody) is murdered.
A weary inspector (Rockwell) and an eager rookie constable (Ronan) take on the case, and quickly find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground.

"What are you doing here, Gloria?" "Waiting for something better to come along..." Gravitas has revealed the official US trailer for a film from the UK titled The Score, which is playing in theaters now and out on VOD next week. This premiered at the 2021 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival last year, where it initially grabbed my attention. From the producers of Yesterday, The Score boldly combines real time heist-thriller suspense with offbeat romance and a killer soundtrack; starring and featuring the music of Johnny Flynn, alongside Naomi Ackie and Will Poulter. Two small time crooks, Mike & Troy, are on a mission – the "score" – that they both expect will transform their lives. At a roadside café, as they wait for a rendezvous hand-over, Troy falls in love with the waitress, Gloria, and begins to question his life choices... with a threat of real danger on the way. Also stars Lydia Wilson,...

Warning: contains spoilers for the Taboo finale.
Taboo is a Gothic conspiracy thriller about the evil committed by servants of British Empire, and the story of an enigmatic man with otherworldly abilities. It’s an antidote to the bloodless bonnets-and-quadrille vision of Regency England popularised by Jane Austen adaptations, and swaps that sterile environment for a London filled with grime, debauchery and violence. More than anything though, it’s an eight-episode excuse for Tom Hardy to grunt about in a stovepipe hat.
Will There Be a Season 2?
Written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, based on an idea by Tom Hardy and his novelist father, Taboo aired in 2017 on BBC One and FX. Despite appearances, it is planned to be a continuing series. Knight confirmed that he’d written six of eight scripts for a second season back in summer 2019, but scheduling issues for its in-demand star stalled progress, an...

"Oh I'm burning, oh he's burning, oh I'm burninggg..." West End Films from the UK has revealed the first teaser trailer for an indie film titled The Score, described as a "heist musical" about criminals planning a "big score". Wait, what?!
