This review wouldn't be right without starting with the title: "Anniversary."
What happiness it brings because next year we get to have one! Beauty and the Beast has been renewed and we no longer need to worry this story is going to end prematurely. There will be more. Happy sigh planted here!
It never dawned on me that Cat and Vincent would consider the day they "met" when he saved her as their anniversary, which was also the day of her mother's death. Or was it? We've been wondering about that the last few episodes with the strange goings-on at Muirfield and the possibility they could bring back the dead.
Even Gabe wondered if maybe she might be alive and it turned out it was one of the main reasons he was back in town. Hoping to find Vanessa's grave empty so she could help him. More on that in a bit.

You almost need to see Dave Grohl's documentary "Sound City" with headphones on. That's the best way to pick up the nuances the legions of legendary musicians are talking about in this ratty old recording studio where some of the greatest rock records ever made were cut from the 1970s through the '90s.
When Grohl, drummer with Nirvana and later Foo Fighters frontman, and other drummers such as Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac) talk about the presence, the unique sound that drums carried out of this dump of a studio in Van Nuys, Calif., headphones are the best way to sample that difference, that analog "oomph" that Sound City gave them.
And as Fleetwood, Grohl and the others -- from Tom Petty and Kevin Cronin (Reo Speedwagon) to Rick Springfield and Neil Young -- will tell you, if you get the drums right, the rest just falls into place.

Two men are sitting at a table, one of whom speaks excitedly while the other appears bored.
"Stop me if you've heard this. A bunch of fresh-faced believers with a song in their heart, going up against killjoys determined to kill the kids' dreams. Yeah? Well, I bet you've never heard it told quite like this."
Cue: rising music.
Setting: Hollywood. Period: 1987, the age of Poison and Ratt.
Cue: titles
Rock Of Ages
"From the director of [the lesser version of] Hairspray, based on the hit Broadway musical."
Fade in.
A squalid spirited, yet neglected bar on the Sunset Strip is full of young people. Both the guys and girls wear colorful spandex and shaggy, feathered manes. A power ballad throbs as an older man explains the club is actually a church for fresh-faced believers with a song in their heart and a belly full of Jäger. But there are forces at work — diabolical...

The world has come down with a serious case of Bieber Fever… and with Justin Bieber: Never Say Never out in theaters tomorrow, we figured that this would be the perfect time to talk about some of our favorite Music/Band documentaries. There are so many that a couple have certainly been left out… but that just gives you something to discuss at the end!
Honorable Mention: The Fearless Freaks
If you have ever been to a The Flaming Lips concert, you know the kind of crazy, high energy show that these guys put on. In The Fearless Freaks viewers get to see the makings and evolution of this band from Oklahoma. It is an honest, genuine film that delves much deeper than just showing a band playing a show.

Into the Ring with Aronofsky
As someone who has spent quite a bit of time researching the backstage goings-on of professional wrestling for two different screenplays (most notably a script which was a biopic of wrestling super-promoter Vince McMahon), I can say that director Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler captures the lives of professional wrestlers with an authenticity that has never been seen before in a fiction film. It is also, somewhat incredibly, the first major fiction film in recent memory to really begin mining the pure narrative gold inherent in...

The Wrestler Reviewby Mike Digiorgio, Writer The Wrestler is the greatest movie ever made about pro wrestling. Granted, that wouldn’t be hard, as it’s never been captured right on film. It’s always portrayed as if it was a real sport and not scripted entertainment – and is almost always used for comic relief. One thing movies did get right, even if the context was wrong – wrestling moves hurt. It was funny to see poor Rocky Balboa get thrown around by Hulk Hogan’s Thunderlips in Rocky III. But the injuries delivered to Mickey Rourke’s Randy “The Ram” Robinson are shockingly real and look extremely painful. While watching The Ram in The Wrestler, it’s the first time I could hear gasps and wincing from people watching professional wrestling. I’m a fan - -and I’ve watched it around people who aren’t. If they’re shocked...
