Cardi B says the strategy remains the same for every Met Gala appearance: “Be iconic.”
The Grammy Award-winning rapper and her stylist Kollin Carter — recently featured on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Stylists issue — have been in prep mode for months as she has emerged as one to watch on fashion’s biggest night thanks to head-turning appearances that date back to 2018.
“We’re always thinking ahead,” Cardi told THR in late March during a brief interview inside Sunset Tower, site of a celebration for Hollywood’s top image makers. “I feel like the Met Gala is almost like going to the Grammys. It’s very nerve-racking, and even though we make it look so easy, we really be so nervous.”
Though Cardi remained tight-lipped about what she and Carter have in store for this year, they’ll have plenty of inspiration to pull from. Taking place on Monday,...

Lava for Good co-founders Jason Flom and Jeff Kempler, along with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Gilbert King, will partner with Oscar-winning film and television producer Cathy Schulman’s Welle Entertainment and Primary Wave Music to develop and produce a multi-season scripted television series inspired by Lava for Good’s award-winning podcast Bone Valley. Veteran screenwriter and TV producer Dana Stevens will adapt.
Written and hosted by King along with producer and researcher Kelsey Decker, the show chronicles the chilling story of Leo Schofield, the Central Florida man who was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for killing his wife, Michelle. Schofield has spent over three decades in prison — even after another incarcerated man, Jeremy Scott, confessed in detail to the crime. The attention that King and the podcast have brought to the case was cited in Schofield’s most recent parole hearing in May of 2023, which resulted in Schofield being transferred to the Everglades Re-Entry Center.

Well-versed in the modern period drama with a twist, director Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth, The Favourite) had a simple edict for the costume design of Poor Things. As British costume designer Holly Waddington notes, “He didn’t want it to be like a period drama, he didn’t want it to be like a sci-fi film, and he didn’t want it to be too ‘fashiony.’ ” The result is Age of Innocence meets surrealism meets couture.
Adapted from Alasdair Gray’s novel, Searchlight’s Poor Things is a fantastical feminist fairy tale on steroids, where the character Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) is brought back to life with the brain of an inquisitive, no-holds-barred toddler by the Frankensteinish Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Set against a backdrop of London, Lisbon, Paris and Alexandria, the costumes support the narrative of a young woman’s social and sexual awakening.

To celebrate Moschino’s 40th anniversary, four celebrated stylists were asked to create a collection inspired by Franco Moschino’s iconic designs in the period between 1983 — when the designer’s flair and creative genius broke into the monotony of Milanese fashion with his innovative and unusual clothes — and 1993, the year of the last fashion show before his untimely death.
Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Katie Grand, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and Lucia Liu are the creative souls who were given the task of putting together the collection, after the departure of previous creative director Jeremy Scott. Sitting in the front row was an attentive and vigiliant Alberta Ferretti — founder of the Aeffe group, the brand owner’s — enjoying the fruits of their labor, on such an important anniversary and with a fitting tribute to the brand’s founder.
For the show, titled “40 Years of Love,” each stylist brought 10 personal interpretations of Moschino’s unmistakable style.

On May 3, a long-awaited parole hearing will take place in Tallahassee, Florida, to determine if Leo Schofield will finally be released from prison after being wrongfully convicted of murder more than three decades ago.
In 1987, Leo, then 21 years old, was devastated when his teenage wife Michelle was found dead in a phosphate mining pit in Lakeland, Florida. Two years later, Leo was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, where he has remained despite overwhelming evidence of his innocence unearthed and revealed on the Lava for Good podcast Bone Valley by Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Gilbert King and producer Kelsey Decker — evidence pointing to Michelle’s actual killer.
Fifteen years after Leo’s conviction, previously unidentified fingerprints from Michelle’s car matched Jeremy Scott — a troubled teen with an extensive history of violence who lived near the young couple at the time. Scott has since confessed to Michelle’s murder a number of times,...

Rewear, repeat, three-peat … The verbiage summing up what’s new on the red carpet in the past year happens to center on what’s old, or at least previously worn. Sustainability and vintage were at the forefront of Hollywood fashion throughout awards season. THR‘s Stylist of the Year Elizabeth Stewart worked with Tár best actress nominee Cate Blanchett to create a red carpet campaign with the smallest environmental footprint possible. “The theme is Cate’s closet and celebrating it,” says Stewart, “and being as conscious as possible of the impact our choices can have.” Law Roach, who made worldwide headlines when he announced his retirement from styling March 14, outfitted Zendaya in internet-shattering 2002 Versace for the NAACP Image Awards. Also trending? A return to megawatt glamour, as evidenced by both Anne Hathaway with stylist Erin Walsh and Gucci glamazon Jodie Turner-Smith, who turned the Venice International Film Festival canals into her own catwalk,...

Hedi Slimane presented his Celine FW23 collection titled Age of Indieness at the iconic Los Angeles art deco theatre, The Wiltern, Thursday, December 8.
The electric collection was attended by Priscilla Presley, Beck, Doja Cat, Matt Bellamy, Kim Gordan, Kid Cudi and the stars of the screen included Brie Larson, Austin Butler, Dustin Hoffman and Miles Teller.
King Princess, Shaun White, Courtney Cox, Cindy Crawford, Jeremy Scott, Sky Ferreira were also at the event that showcased the Fall/Winter 2023 87-look co-ed looks.
Slimane presented a homage to his style roots of indie rock-n-roll aesthetic supported by an original soundtrack titled ‘Hello Operator’, performed by the White Stripes and written and produced by Jack White. The styling was reminiscent of the late 2000s garments of tailored skinny jeans, leather jackets, military jackets, and fringed suede that could have walked right off the streets of Camden Town in what’s now defined as the indie sleaze era.

Moschino made a huge splash during Milan Fashion Week. Jeremy Scott, who is the creative director of the Italian luxury brand, sent supermodels down the runway in chic pool floaties that were molded into corsets, fitted jackets, sunhats and handbags. One get-up entailed a vibrant pink peplum suit that featured a rubber flamingo tube wrapped around the model's waist. Flamingo pumps, which had the bird's head springing out of the toe area, and a neon visor were the finishing touches to the bold look. The nautical vibe carried on, as other models slipped into blazer dresses with navy blue stripes or wore designs...

It was sad to see Jeanette Limas go after the “Concept Store” assignment on “Making the Cut,” especially because it meant she wouldn’t be able to show the 10-look collection she designed. After they put so much work into their collections, I think all four should’ve gotten the chance to show them off, but alas, I didn’t get a vote. We did end up with three stellar finalists, though: Rafael Chaouiche, Georgia Hardinge, and Yannik Zamboni. Which of them was named the next great global brand in “Finale”?

The elimination of Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert from “Making the Cut” in the episode “Social Media Content” surprised no one more than Markantoine himself, who didn’t think he should have been sent home. Episode five, “Festival Wear,” was a bloodbath on “Making the Cut,” with outrage from judge Jeremy Scott and the eliminations of both Curtis Cassell and Sienna Li. That left five designers going into episode six, “Social Media Content”: Rafael Chaouiche, Georgia Hardinge, Jeanette Limas, Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert, and Yannik Zamboni. After all that vitriol, it was nice to get back to a kinder, gentler “Making the Cut.” And spoiler alert: no notebooks were harmed in the filming of this episode.

“I was in my head like, okay, where could we go all together? Where we’re wearing similar colors, and where the topic is so clear that nobody misunderstands and ends up in a cohesive collection. So I was thinking about a funeral,” says designer Yannik Zamboni about coming up with the idea for the “One Day, One Team” group assignment on “Making the Cut.” But he knew that a funeral meant using black when he prefers to design in only white, so “I’m gonna make it harder for myself as well.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Zamboni above.

“The pressure was on. I knew I had to do something big because nobody wants to go home. I didn’t want to go home. I didn’t want to call my mom and dad and be like, ‘This is it for me,'” remembers designer Jeanette Limas about the “Winter Wear” assignment on “Making the Cut.” She won the assignment, meaning her design was made available on Amazon’s online “Making the Cut” store, but just one episode earlier she was on the verge of being eliminated. In the infinitely vast multiverse of the Daniels’ “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” anything is possible: Fingers become hot dogs, raccoons become chefs and rocks can even talk to one another. So, when the time came for hair department head Anissa Salazar to design the cast’s hairstyles — from a traditional Chinese opera headdress to a bagel sculpted from braids — her options were endless.
The A24 film stars Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, an exhausted mother and wife whose laundromat is being audited by the IRS. While she’s sitting with her husband Waymond (Ke Huy Quan) across from inspector Deirdre Beaubeirdra (Jamie Lee Curtis), she’s suddenly transported into a parallel dimension. There, an alternate version of Waymond explains that the future of the multiverse is being threatened by “verse-jumper” Jobu Tupaki (Stephanie Hsu) — who also happens to be Evelyn’s daughter, Joy — whom they must work to defeat.

There are a plethora of new titles coming to Prime Video and IMDb TV (Amazon’s premium free streaming service) in August, but the best on the list is on August 1st when Predator 2 hits.
The 1990 sequel from director Stephen Hopkins starred Danny Glover, Gary Busey, María Conchita Alonso, Ruben Blades, Bill Paxton, Calvin Lockhart, Kevin Peter Hall. It’s the perfect Saturday afternoon flick, has a wonderful score from composer Alan Silvestri and the final scene of the movie with the big reveal of the spaceship’s wall that the Predator had a Xenomorph skull as one of its prized trophies. We Alien fans in the audience that opening weekend went wild and hoped for an Alien v Predator crossover, which finally happened with 2004’s Alien vs. Predator. A sequel, Predators, was released in 2010, followed by The Predator in 2018.

First floated with flurry of fawning publicity as a not-so-secret, off-market whisper listing several weeks ago, Frank Lloyd Wright’s expensively and comprehensively restored Ennis House in Los Angeles’s Los Feliz neighborhood officially came for sale on the open market today with a sky-high $23 million price tag.
Originally constructed with more than 27,000 patterned and perforated decomposed granite blocks, the boldly idiosyncratic, temple-like residence was built by Wright’s architect son Lloyd Wright in 1924 for retailer Charles Ennis and his wife Mabel. Badly damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the exotic residence slipped into a pitiful state of neglect and disrepair until 2011 when it was sold for $4.5 million to architecture appreciating billionaire Ron Burkle. According to marketing materials, the supermarket magnate and investor spent “nearly $17 million” to scrupulously restore the “both powerful and remarkably livable” residence.
