“Central Park,” the hit animated musical comedy series from Apple TV+, will return for its third season on Friday, September 9. Original cast member Kristen Bell is returning to star in Season 3 in the new role of Abby, Paige’s little sister.
In Season 1, Bell voiced Owen (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Paige’s (Kathryn Hahn) mixed raced daughter Molly, but she exited the series in 2020 because she believed it unjust for her to voice a biracial character.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Sunday’s Season 1 finale of “Kevin Can F**k Himself.”)
Welp, the first season of “Kevin Can F**k Himself” didn’t end with Kevin McRoberts (Eric Petersen) getting whacked by his wife, Allison (Annie Murphy), and neighbor Patty O’Connor’s (Mary Hollis Inboden) — but it did conclude with the death of the AMC drama’s sitcom world.
At least for Kevin’s best friend and Patty’s brother, Neil (Alex Bonifer), who made the laughter stop by strangling Allison upon learning of her failed attempt to murder Kevin, causing Patty to hit him over the head with a bottle.
When Patty smashed that glass to save Allison, she broke through the multi-cam world that Kevin, Neil and Kevin’s father, Pete (Brian Howe), have lived in throughout the entire season.

We already knew that Kevin Can F**k Himself would be a hit from the very first trailer, but now that we're nearing the end of the series, the question is: will there be a second season? The penultimate episode of Annie Murphy's show airs on July 25 on AMC, with the finale immediately following on AMC+. As of now, the fate of the show remains unclear, as it has yet to be renewed or canceled. However, Raymond Lee, who plays Sam, recently told Comic Book Resources that he's hopeful. "Just keep on watching and stay tuned," he said. "Hopefully, with everybody's help and with some people rallying around it, we can get a second season sooner than later."
While discussing the series with Collider in July, showrunner Craig Digregorio revealed what he learned from making the first season that he thinks could affect a second season. "There are always new challenges,...

Four years ago, CBS decided to “retool” its struggling Kevin James-led sitcom “Kevin Can Wait” for its upcoming second season. Lead actress Erinn Hayes, who played Kevin’s wife, would be written off the show and replaced by Leah Remini, officially reuniting the “King of Queens” duo on a weekly basis. The question then became one of what the series would do to write Donna off. Divorce? A long work retreat? Always doing something else, just off screen? Come “Kevin Can Wait’s” second season premiere, the series went with perhaps the worst possible creative choice: It killed her off, with barely a line of dialogue about it, then moved on to some forgettable punchline. If there was any doubt that this type of “Sitcom Wife” was considered expendable and essentially a prop, this moment settled things.

“I had the idea of a sitcom wife leaving her brightly-lit, laugh track living room with her funny husband and walking through a swinging door to the kitchen,” “Kevin Can F Himself” creator Valerie Armstrong told IndieWire. As the character crosses into the kitchen the audience sees that her once flawless makeup is now caked, her kitchen covered in water stains. Elements that, in a sitcom, are taboo.
For Armstrong, much of the inspiration for the AMC series starring Annie Murphy came in the midst of a rage felt by women for decades. “I was listening to this podcast; it was June of 2017,” she said. “Two women comedians [were] talking about pilot season and how every year they go out for sitcoms and every year they’re told, ‘We need a really funny woman.’ Then they get the sides and it’s all lines like ‘What do you mean?'”

The morning after the 2020 Emmy Awards, Annie Murphy woke up with a nasty hangover. She had just won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Alexis Rose on Schitt’s Creek, but she didn’t have time to let it soak in. “I dragged my corpse onto an airplane,” she remembers. “It was pretty nuts.”

Annie Murphy’s meta-comedy Kevin Can F**k Himself will land at AMC and AMC+ this summer.
Set to debut on Sunday, June 13 on AMC+ and Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on AMC, Kevin Can F**k Himself stars Annie Murphy, the Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek actress, as Allison McRoberts, the prototypical Sitcom Wife. But what happens when we follow Allison out of her husband’s domain? When she finally wakes up to—and revolts against—the injustices in her life? Kevin Can F**K Himself breaks television convention and blends multi-camera comedy with single-camera realism to make us ask: “who and what have we been laughing at all of these years?”
Created by Valerie Amrstrong, Kevin Can F**k Himself also features Mary Hollis Inboden, Eric Petersen, Alex Bonifer, Brian Howe and Raymond Lee.

Emmy Award-winning “Schitt’s Creek” star Annie Murphy is a little less Alexis in her latest lead role for AMC and a little more generic sitcom wife gone off-script (and sanguinary). During its Television Critics’ Association Winter Press Tour, the network released a trailer for the genre-busting dark dramedy “Kevin Can F**k Himself,” premiering sometime this summer.
As evidenced in the trailer, the series breaks television conventions by probing the secret life of the sitcom housewife archetype and asking what the world would look like through her eyes when she snaps and takes the lead in her own life. Alternating between single-camera realism and multi-camera comedy, the formats will inform one another as we see Annie Murphy’s character (Allison) realize that what she really wants is to stop playing perfect and to start killing her husband.

Annie Murphy is a disgruntled sitcom wife tired of being the butt of the joke in the first trailer for AMC’s forthcoming series “Kevin Can F**k Himself.”
The experimental series from creator Valerie Armstrong toggles between multi-cam comedy and single-camera drama to “imagine what happens when the sitcom wife escapes her confines and takes the lead in her own life,” per AMC’s description.
The title of the series is a nod to CBS’s now-canceled “Kevin Can Wait,” which unceremoniously killed off Erin Hayes’ character to give star Kevin James a new on-screen wife when the writers ran out of ideas. (Hayes was replaced by James’ former “King of Queens” co-star Leah Remini.)
In an interview with Vanity Fair on Thursday, Murphy expressed frustration at the “sexism and misogyny and racism and homophobia and bigotry” that gets overlooked in the fast-paced sitcom format.

We’re in an era of pop culture where the sitcom, and the expectations it created in women, is being re-examined. AMC’s new series, “Kevin Can F**k Himself,” is all about upending everything in the traditional sitcom set-up. Starring “Schitt’s Creek” award-winner Annie Murphy, the show focuses on a housewife named Allison and her realization that the world revolving around her husband, Kevin, isn’t what she wants.
The first photos below give hints about Allison’s world and the distinction between the sitcom landscape and her own point-of-view. As showrunner and executive producer Craig Digregorio told IndieWire exclusively, there was a serious desire to create a landscape of the sitcom universe without directly imitating anything specific. “There was [desire] just to be true to the format of a multi-camera show,” he said.
“We always want it to feel like it’s the same universe,” he said with regards to...

If Kevin Can Wait, WandaVision and Breaking Bad had a torrid three-way and made a baby of indeterminate paternity, it’d probably look a bit like Kevin Can F**k Himself — judging by the first trailer for the genre-busting dramedy.

Kevin James hasn’t weighed in on AMC’s buzzed-about new series Kevin Can F**k Himself… until now.
It was first reported in November 2018 that AMC was in development on the pointedly titled dramedy, just months after CBS pulled the plug on James’ sitcom Kevin Can Wait. As well publicized, Kevin Can Wait underwent a major overhaul between Seasons 1 and 2 that saw original cast member Erinn Hayes let go. She was replaced by James’ former King of Queens costar Leah Remini, which resulted in a steep ratings decline and the series’ swift cancellation.

The new single-camera/multi-camera hybrid dramedy is ordered to series alongside courtroom drama 61st Street.
Despite making a splash with its first two original series offerings, Breaking Bad and Mad Men, two of the most highly praised series of the past 20 years, and giving the world The Walking Dead, a ratings and cultural phenomenon, AMC has struggled to regain the pop culture foothold they had in the premium cable space just five years ago. It’s not for a lack of trying; series like Better Call Saul and Lodge 49 have loyal followings and critical acclaim, but elude the sort of water-cooler ubiquity of the AMC hits of yesteryear.
Perhaps a convention-breaking, single-camera/multi-camera hybrid dramedy with an attention-grabbing title can help the network regain the attention of lapsed viewers. AMC has ordered the hour-long dramedy Kevin Can F**k Himself, which looks to humanize and give...

It’s only Tuesday, but longtime producing partners Rashida Jones and partner Will McCormack are already having quite the eventful week. This morning, it was announced that the TNT series “Claws” — executive produced by the duo’s Le Train Train production company — was renewed for its fourth and final season. But apparently where one show ends, another begins, as Variety reported that AMC has just picked up a new pilot executive-produced by the pair — the quite pointedly titled “Kevin Can Go F— Himself” — to series.

AMC has given series orders to two new projects, the courtroom drama “61st Street” and the convention-busting “Kevin Can F**k Himself.”
“61st Street” is being described as a “two-season television event series,” and has been picked up by the network for two seasons of eight episode each. The drama centers on Moses Johnson, a “promising, black high school athlete who is swept up into the infamously corrupt Chicago criminal justice system” when he is taken by the police as a supposed gang member and accused of the death of an officer during a drug bust gone wrong.
Peter Moffat, who wrote the BBC drama which inspired HBO’s “The Night Of,” is showrunner and executive producer. Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo of Outlier Society will also executive produce alongside Hilary Salmon of BBC Studios.

“61st Street,” which has been ordered as a two-season television event series with eight episodes per season, is a courtroom drama that follows Moses Johnson, a promising, black high school athlete, who is swept up into the infamously corrupt Chicago criminal justice system. Taken by the police as a supposed gang member, he finds himself in the eye of the storm as police and prosecutors seek revenge for the death of an officer during a drug bust gone wrong.
The series hails from showrunner and executive producer Peter Moffat as well as executive producer Michael B. Jordan via his Outlier Society production banner.

Updated with AMC’s announcement: AMC has given series greenlight to courtroom drama thriller 61st Street, from BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat and executive producer Michael B. Jordan (David Makes Man); and to Kevin Can F**k Himself, from creator Valerie Armstrong (Lodge 49) and executive producers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (Claws), I have learned. Both series are produced by AMC Studios.
61st Street is envisioned as a two-season close-ended event, and AMC has given the project a two-season order from the outset, a first for the network.
61st Street and Kevin Can F**k Himself were developed under AMC’s “scripts-to-series” model, which employs the opening of a writers’ rooms to develop and produce multiple scripts for a potential series which, in success, leads to a straight-to-series order. 61st Street and Kevin Can F**k Himself were two of three projects AMC commissioned writers rooms...

Shrill has a complicated relationship with its source material but is nevertheless a fun half-hour Aidy Bryant party.
This is a spoiler-free review of Shrill.
What happens when you take the work of one of the sharpest feminist minds of our time and filter it through a feel-good half-hour comedy? I’m honestly not sure, and therein lies the problem.
Hulu has adapted Lindy West’s 2016 memoiristic essay collection Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, which deals predominantly with themes of gender, size, popular culture, and what it means when women take up space, as a vehicle for the incredibly talented Aidy Bryant. The show isn’t a straight adaptation of West’s best-selling book, which is similar to her work as a staff writer for Jezebel, New York Times contributor, and co-founder of Shout Your Abortion, but rather a fictional show that’s inspired by its themes and sometimes...

While Ash was a Deadite-killing expert by the start of the Ash vs Evil Dead TV series, Kelly is in a very different place from when the series first began, and is now a blood-soaked veteran Deadite slayer in her own right. Continuing our interview series leading up to this Sunday's season 3 premiere on Starz, Dana DeLorenzo and I talked about her joining the Evil Dead family in the first season, playing off of Ash's antiquated views, and going big in the new season:
When the series was first announced, fans really didn’t know what to expect from Ash vs Evil Dead and its new characters. You and Ray [Santiago] have been such great additions to the Evil Dead family, and I watch the show for Pablo and Kelly as much as I do Ash.
Dana DeLorenzo: That's very generous of you to say, and thank you. I was truly terrified.

Well, Bruce Campbell did promise a jaw-dropping third season.
In honor of Halloween, Starz has today unleashed the groovy, decidedly Nsfw first teaser for Ash Vs. Evil Dead, which sadly won’t return until February of next year – a first for the horror sequel series, given previous instalments have dropped in the fall. The good news is that Ash Williams (Campbell) hasn’t lost his knack for slaying Deadites in the most gruesome ways imaginable, and above you’ll see our zombie-killing hero reunite with his long-lost daughter.
What follows is a gory, blood-drenched descent into madness, and while ratings slumped mid-way through season 2, all signs point to Ash Vs. Evil Dead firing on all cylinders in time for 2018. Behind the scenes, Sam Raimi still holds an executive producer credit on the horror-themed spinoff, though Starz’s series has now been placed in the hands of showrunner Craig Digregorio.
