- In 1937, he founded the dance company that bears his name. From its first, groundbreaking performance, it has explored the music, culture, traditions, and costumes of various ethnic groups throughout the former USSR.
- Igor Moiseyev was born in 1906 in Kiev, Ukraine, and died in November 2007 in Moscow at the age of 101. He enrolled in a dance school at 14. His outstanding talent took him to the acclaimed Bolshoi Theater dance school in Moscow. However, he was soon dismissed because of his daring choreography.
- The Moiseyev Dance Company was founded by Igor Moiseyev. He transformed folk dance into a legitimate choreographic genre for stage performance. In so doing, he attracted the interest of the West in Russian culture even during the Cold War.
