‘Ghosts’ Producer Developing TV Version Of Podcast About Prolific British Con Woman
Ghosts producer Monumental Television is developing a TV version of a Global podcast about one of the most prolific fraudsters in British history. The indie has secured rights to Filthy Ritual, which is about Juliette D’Souza, who at the turn of the century wreaked havoc on a number of people’s lives until a rag-tag team of her victims came together to fight for justice. Described by her neighbors as being like ‘a knife in a velvet glove’, D’Souza claimed to have a special connection to an ancient source of power and wisdom deep in the Amazonian jungle, and she is said to have made at least £1M through extortion and manipulation. ITV Studios-backed Monumental makes BBC One smash Ghosts, which has been adapted for CBS, along with the likes of ITV’s Maryland and UKTV’s The Marlow Murder Club.

Sheen is executive producing the feature documentary To Be Free, which explores the issues and challenges of tackling labor trafficking in the U.S., whether it’s people forced via fraud or coercion to do unpaid work in restaurants, farm fields, construction sites or nail salons.
“People need to understand this is so prevalent and it’s happening under our eyes in the United States and in other countries in the West,” Sheen told The Hollywood Reporter as he jumps aboard director Benjamin Ryan Nathan’s groundbreaking film about a largely hidden crisis of human trafficking impacting virtually every American town and every sector of the economy.

Hollywood’s bloated egos require some manner of annual deflation, especially during Oscar season. For more than 40 years, that has been the objective of the Golden Raspberry Awards. The Razzies, as they’re (un)affectionately known, have celebrated the best of the worst in film since 1980. The dubious honor has been accepted by such self-deprecating luminaries as Halle Berry (Catwoman), Ben Affleck (Gigli) and Sandra Bullock (All About Steve).
But evolving sensibilities have recently cast a shadow over the operation. In January, in response to social media backlash, the group rescinded its 2023 nomination of a 12-year-old actress (Firestarter star Ryan Kiera Armstrong). Not a year earlier, a fresh win for Bruce Willis and a decades-old nomination for Shelley Duvall were taken back — the former in light of his aphasia diagnosis and the latter for revelations of on-set mistreatment by The Shining director Stanley Kubrick. The Razzies began as a way to poke fun at fame.

Mumbai, Jan 12 (Ians) Between them they have the experience of playing five Hockey World Cups and thus former India captain Mm Somaya, Edgar Mascarenhas and Adrian D’Souza believes the upcoming edition of the mega event starting in Rourkela on Friday is a huge opportunity for India to end the four-decade medal drought in the mega event.
Somaya has played in two World Cups, Mascarenhas in the 1990 event in Pakistan and D’Souza in the 2006 and 2010 editions. But all three believe that with India playing at home and considering the amount of time the players have spent together as a team, the 16-team event being held at Rourkela and Bhubaneswar is a great opportunity for them.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Indian team as we are not sure when we will host the World Cup again. The players have been together at the camp since the Covid-19 pandemic. India won...

Rourkela, Jan 10 (Ians) All set to play his fourth World Cup for India, experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh emphasised that it’s the results that matter more than the number of times a player turns up for a marquee event like the World Cup.
While he admits it’s a huge honour to turn up for his fourth World Cup, Sreejesh knows very well that this is a great opportunity to change India’s fortunes at the ultimate tournament for hockey, in which India awaits to finish on the podium since 1975 triumph when the illustrious Ajit Pal Singh-led team won the tournament beating Pakistan in the Final.
“It is a great honour for me to play my fourth World Cup for our country and the special part is, this is my third World Cup on home soil. I don’t think any player has had this privilege of playing three World Cups at home,...

Mumbai, Jan 6 (Ians) Rrahul Sachdev and Rovin D’Souza both potted consistently and went on to record century breaks in winning their respective matches of the National Sports Club of India (Nsci) organised Rs 13 lakh prize-money All India Snooker Open 2023.
The left-handed Sachdev was in complete control as he was striking the balls with precision and went on to outclass Yash Kamdar 3-0 cruising to an 83-23, 71-5, and 102-1 victory, in the best-of-five-frame first-round match. Sachdev after taking the first frame rolled in a break of 66 in the second and then produced the three-figure effort, the first first-century of the tournament. New Delhi, Aug 23 (Ians) The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought Union Minister Smriti Irani’s response to tech giant Twitter’s plea for clarification on removing links of defamatory content against her and her daughter in relation to the recent bar controversy.
Earlier, the high court had directed the microblogging site to do away with those web links which contains allegations of three Congress leaders that Irani and her daughter were running an illegal bar in the Bjp-ruled Goa.
Twitter said it is only bound to take down similar content which is found to be defamatory on being provided with URLs by Irani. It also sought clarity on the matter as the case is against Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Netta D’ Souza, who have leveled the allegations.
Issuing notice on the petition, Justice Mini Pushkarna granted two weeks’ time to the respondents to reply in the matter.

Brittney Griner was found guilty of smuggling illegal narcotics into Russia and sentenced to nine years in prison on Thursday. Griner had told the court she used marijuana for medicinal purposes, as is legal in the United States and other countries. She was caught with less than a gram of cannabis oil.
Former President Trump bashed Griner recently, calling her “a potentially spoiled person” who went to Russia “loaded up with drugs,” and right-wingers are now celebrating the verdict on social media in step with the Russian state, which found...
