This is quite the career trajectory for a former Mouse House darling: Bridgit Mendler, whose vast Disney Channel credits included Good Luck Charlie and Wizards of Waverly Place, is launching a startup that she describes as a “data highway between Earth and space.”
As CEO of the El Segundo-based startup Northwood Space, Mendler says the new company is looking to mass produce ground stations, or teleports, that connect to satellites in space.
“Space is getting easier along so many different dimensions but still the actual exercise of sending data to and from space is difficult,” Mendler told CNBC. “You have difficulty finding an access point for contacting your satellite.”
After studying at MIT and Harvard Law, Mendler said the idea for the company came when she was spending time with family in New Hampshire during the pandemic. Northwood is the name of a local lake.

Camilla Parker Bowles Plans to Put Her Family in the ‘Limelight’ Not King Charles’ at His Coronation
Camilla Parker Bowles is planning to shake things up in a big way at King Charles III’s upcoming coronation. Charles might be the main focus on the big day, but Camilla reportedly has plans to put her own family front and center instead of the royals.
Camilla’s proposed changes include showcasing her five grandchildren from the Bowles side of the family at the coronation. As if that break from tradition isn’t enough, sources are also reporting that Camilla is looking to give Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a frosty return as her husband formally accepts the crown.

Fans of the late NBC comedy Undateable have at least one thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: Netflix on Thursday dropped all eight episodes of the new Christmas-themed comedy Merry Happy Whatever, which reunites former castmates Bridgit Mendler and Brent Morin.
Once again, the actors are romantically paired. Mendler plays Emmy Quinn, an L.A.-based financial analyst who brings her boyfriend, struggling musician Matt (Morin), home to meet her tight-knit, Philadelphia-based brood. That includes her hard-to-impress dad, Bucks County sheriff Don (The Parent Trap‘s Dennis Quaid), who takes an immediate disliking to his youngest daughter’s significant other.

Forget Christmas movies, Netflix is giving us an entire Christmas sitcom. Merry Happy Whatever is a whole show focused on the holiday season, centered around Matt (Brent Morin) going home with his girlfriend Emmy (Bridgit Mendler) and discovering just how dysfunctional and just how close the Quinn family is. There aren't many Christmas TV shows out there, but the cast says it kind of makes more sense than a movie. Netflix is stealing Thanksgiving’s thunder this week by filling you with the Christmas spirit a little early with Thursday’s debut of the new Dennis Quaid-led holiday series, “Merry Happy Whatever.” Yes, you read that right, a Christmas TV series.
While the streaming service has moved into the holiday movie genre over the last few years with its “A Christmas Prince” franchise and films like “The Knight Before Christmas” “Holiday in the Wild,” they’ve never done a scripted holiday-themed show before. (Competition series like “Nailed It! Holiday” and “The Great British Baking Show: Holidays” don’t count here.)
So why did creator Tucker Cawley decide to write a Christmas series and not add to the growing list of Christmas films Netflix has to offer?

Who would have guessed that the battle to reign supreme with holiday programming would come in the way of dueling limited holiday-themed series?
Ok. It's not exactly a battle royale, but Netflix is releasing Merry Happy Whatever starring Dennis Quaid and Ashley Tisdale while Fox is challenging the binge-watch with The Moodys starring Denis Leary, Elizabeth Perkins, and Jay Baruchel.

Netflix dropped the trailer for its upcoming Christmas-themed series, “Merry Happy Whatever,” on Monday, starring Dennis Quaid as Don Quinn, the father of a family that likes things done their own way during the holiday. Well, his way.
And his way doesn’t seem to include his daughter Emmy’s (Bridgit Mendler) new boyfriend Matt (Brent Morin) who wants to pop the question this Christmas.
Watch the video above, which also features Ashley Tisdale as Emmy’s sister Kayla, who is also not a big fan of Matt. Poor guy, looks like he’s got a rough road ahead this holiday season.

With the release of Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin just around the corner, we're excited to see every detail of the new Agrabah. Aside from Will Smith as the Genie, most of the main cast is made up of relative newcomers for whom this is their first big blockbuster role. Naomi Scott, the British actress who plays the brave, strong-willed Princess Jasmine, is no stranger to the big screen, but this is definitely her biggest role to date.
In a sense, Aladdin is bringing Scott's career full circle. The actress got her first screen credits a decade ago with a couple of Disney-branded projects. In 2009, she costarred as "Megan" in Life Bites, a British-produced sketch comedy show that lasted for two seasons. From there, she moved over into mainstream Disney Channel with a role in the 2011 TV movie Lemonade Mouth and an accompanying short, Lemonade Mouth: Somebody.

With the entire Disney vault under wraps, the need for a dose of good old-fashioned Disney nostalgia is real. Luckily, Netflix is swooping in to grace us with Merry Happy Whatever, a new show starring two of our favorite Disney alums: Ashley Tisdale and Bridgit Mendler! The first season of the holiday-themed anthology will be set during Christmas and feature eight episodes following the Quinn family and their not-so-merry Christmas. It sounds like the grown-up Disney series we've always wanted.

To really delve into Father of the Year would be both a waste of your time and mine. Netflix exclusives are elusive and baffling at best. Seemingly dropping down from the cinematic gods themselves onto our TV screens with little to no fanfare or anticipation. We are far beyond the realm of hit and miss, more so in the age of a constant state of bizarre. The dumping ground of studio productions has only hailed one or two inspiring pieces of cinema, most notably in Alex Garland’s Annihilation, but with each positive success, a Cloverfield: Paradox waits in the winds to pounce upon significant interest with disastrous outcomes. Its the nucleus of Netflix produced content that worries the most.

In Netflix’s “Father of the Year,” audiences get to see David Spade’s entire backside, and he said that while he’s not in bad shape, he got some nasty reviews about his rear.
“I’m not in that bad of a shape, I lost some weight,” Spade told Howard Stern on Wednesday. “I get a couple bad Yelp reviews on my a– but overall, it’s not too bad.”
While Spade reveals his “whole ass” in the movie, as Stern says, that’s where he draws the line. The actor told Stern that he would never do full frontal nudity in a film.

Netflix has released a trailer for the upcoming original comedy called Father of the Year which stars David Spade. It seems like it's been a while since we've seen him star in a movie, but this one, which was produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, looks like it could be funny. There were a couple moments in this trailer that made me laugh. Here's the synopsis:
When a drunken debate between two recent college graduates about whose father would win in a fight is taken seriously by their idiot dads, jobs are lost, relationships ruined, futures destroyed, and best friends come of age as they come to grips with who their fathers really are.
The film also stars Nat Faxon (Tammy), Joey Bragg (Liv and Maddie), Matt Shively (The Real O’Neals), and Bridgit Mendler (Nashville).
Father of the Year hits Netflix on July 20th.

"Some people say I'm unstable, and I snap." Netflix has debuted the trailer for a comedy titled Father of the Year, one of the latest cringe-worthy Happy Madison productions from Adam Sandler's deal with the streaming studio. Surprise surprise, this one looks just as bad. Father of the Year is about two fathers who get into an epic fight of sorts after their college graduate sons challenge them to a showdown. David Spade and Nat Faxon star as the dads, Joey Bragg and Matt Shively star as their kids, and the also includes Bridgit Mendler, Bill Kottkamp, Dean Winters, and Kevin Nealon. This really looks terrible. If you want to watch a better fight movie, Fist Fight is a good choice. And if you want to watch a much better film about a father, Bobcat Goldthwait's World's Greatest Dad is an underrated gem. Just skip this and move on.

Many of us grew up with TV shows on Disney Channel, planning our Friday nights around the premiere of every single new Disney Channel Original Movie. We laughed, we cried and we prayed that our secret twin sibling would show up out of nowhere, while simultaneously finding out that our mother was born a leprechaun.
The last few years have given all Disney Channel kids hope with the return of That’s So Raven and Boy Meets World via their respective spinoffs, Raven’s Home and Girl Meets World. (Adult Shawn Hunter, anyone?) If you love baby Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sanderson sisters as much as the rest of the world, you probably jumped for joy when a Hocus Pocus remake was announced. Oh, and who can forget the huge news that the Wildcats will return to East High in High School Musical 4?
