“Obi-Wan. Now, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time… A long time.” Every Star Wars fan recognizes that line as one of the first things that the great Sir Alec Guinness says as Obi-Wan Kenobi at the start of A New Hope. For years, these fans have wondered what could have happened to poor Ben to wipe his much cooler name from memory.
While the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi gave fans an answer, it could have been so much worse. Early planning for the follow-up to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith involved a much darker intro scene for Ewan McGregor‘s fallen Jedi Master, much worse than working on an assembly line cutting up a “sand whale” or living in a cave on Tatooine.
“I said, all I can see is him broken after some time after Episode III and he’s in a really dark place,...

Director Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Godzilla) returned to theaters back in September with The Creator, and the sci-fi action thriller is now headed home to Hulu this month.
The Creator will be streaming exclusively on Hulu beginning December 20. If you’d rather not wait, the film is currently available for VOD rental beginning at just $5.99.
At the worldwide box office, The Creator ended its run with $104 million, which would’ve been a win for an original genre movie if not for the $80 million price tag. An $80 million production budget for a movie on this scale is relatively cheap, it’s important to note, but the film needed to make quite a bit more money in theaters to be considered a box office success.
The film stars John David Washington (Tenet), Gemma Chan (Eternals), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Sturgill Simpson (Dog), newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles and Academy Award® winner Allison Janney (I,...

That’s a very long 83-day theatrical window from the time the movie opened on Sept. 29 in the U.S./Canada.
The Gareth Edwards directed original sci-fi movie stuck to its fall theatrical date and weathered the actors strike without any promotion from actors.
The film stars John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Allison Janney, and is set amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence. Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war…and mankind itself. 20th Century Studios just released the final trailer for The Creator and in addition to being surprisingly emotionally gripping, the visual effects are stunning. Gareth Edwards and Chris Weitz co-wrote the screenplay, and Edwards, Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan serve as producers. Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman executive produced.

The new trailer for Gareth Edwards’ sci-fi epic, The Creator, has landed, courtesy of 20th Century Studios. In this final look at the film before its opening later this month, the young AI child curiously inquires Joshua, played by John David Washington, what heaven is. This poignant moment happens to almost any young person who is curious about faith and humanity and soul, but here, it kicks off the philosophical ambiguity of Edwards’ film.
The official synopsis for The Creator reads,
“Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself. Now that John Williams is winding down with his prestigious career, one of the prominent blockbuster composers of the last couple of decades is Hans Zimmer. Most may know him from his work with Christopher Nolan, although Nolan has opted to work with Ludwig Göransson in his last two outings. Zimmer’s collaboration with Nolan on Inception even notably ushered in the trend of the “Bwaaam” musical sting that can be found in most trailers to help intensify and punctuate a dramatic turn.
Although Zimmer has had a career spanning many genres, his work is recognized chiefly from his big-budget sci-fi or action movies. Film Music Reporter has recently revealed that the maestro will be contributing his booming tones to the upcoming Gareth Edwards sci-fi film starring John David Washington titled The Creator. The official second trailer was recently posted online by 20th Century Studios and showcases a bleak future...

If you thought that high-concept, big budget studio movies would peter out when the summer ends, you are very, very wrong. With “The Creator,” debuting exclusively in theaters on Sept. 29, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” star Gareth Edwards unleashes a bold, original vision of the future. And you can watch the new trailer above.
In “The Creator,” John David Washington plays Joshua, who is a freedom fighter in a future primarily defined by a conflict between humanity and artificial intelligence. The titular Creator is who is responsible for the AI, who has also developed a war-ending super-weapon in the form of a small child. Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson (taking over a role originally earmarked for Danny McBride), Allison Janney and Ralph Ineson co-star.

20th Century Studios’ teaser trailer for The Creator begins by immediately explaining how the world as it exists in the story came to be. Directed by Gareth Edwards, The Creator stars John David Washington (Tenet), Gemma Chan (Eternals), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Sturgill Simpson (Dog), Oscar winner Allison Janney, and newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles.
Gareth Edwards and Chris Weitz wrote the screenplay. Edwards, Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan produce, with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman executive produce.
The two-minute teaser for the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller was accompanied by a poster and photos. The Creator will open in theaters on September 29, 2023.

John David Washington Fights Against the Robot Apocalypse in First Trailer for ‘The Creator’ (Video)
Ready to fight “The Creator?”
The first trailer has finally arrived for the new sci-fi epic that stars John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Allison Janney, Ken Watanabe and Sturgill Simpson. And you can watch it above.
“The Creator,” formerly known as “True Love,” was written and directed by visionary filmmaker Gareth Edwards. It depicts a bleak future where humankind has gone to war against artificial intelligence (and you thought them writing scripts was bad). A human resistance soldier uncovers the ultimate AI weapon, in the form of a young boy.
The new movie features many of Edwards’ key “Rogue One” collaborators, including producer Kiri Hart, composer Michael Giacchino and cinematographer Greig Fraser (who worked alongside Oren Soffer).

There are some science fiction films that were so incendiary that they were banned in different countries. The sci-fi genre has a history of stirring up controversy, and some sci-fi masterpieces were ahead of their time while other beloved favorites have suffered with age.

The colorful realm rife with pastel-hued spirits was 23 years in the making, when director Pete Docter wondered how his son came into the world with a personality.
“Where did that come from? I thought your personality developed through your interaction with the world,” Docter says.
Set amid the cosmic realms of souls and the bustling streets of New York City, Soul follows frustrated middle-school jazz teacher and pianist Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), who finally get his dream performing gig – until a misstep leads him to his ultimate demise. Hesitant to accept his death, Joe (in spirit form) finds himself in The Great Before, where he meets the unenthusiastic, unmotivated 22 (Tina Fey). In an attempt to help 22 find her purpose and passion, Joe rediscovers what makes life worth living for him.
