"They say if it's out of this world, you will find it." Vertical Entertainment has released an intriguing new trailer for a science fiction thriller titled Risen, the latest film from Australian director Eddie Arya (of The Navigator and The System previously). The film is about a mysterious meteor that crash lands in a small, isolated town in Alaska. Exobiologist Lauren Stone is called to find answers to the unearthly event. As she begins to uncover the truth, imminent danger awakens and it becomes a race against time to save mankind. What's hiding in the rock?! Another mysterious extraterrestrial plot. The film stars Nicole Schalmo, Jack Campbell, Dominic Stone, Caroline McQuade, and Kenneth Trujillo. We've seen this kind of "alien microbes" film before, but I'm always still curious to see what each new film has to offer. Check it out below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Eddie Arya's Risen,...

Mansoor Noor in ‘The Furnace.’
When Mansoor Noor decided to study at the Actors Centre Australia in 2014 after playing the lead in the ABC sci-fi series Shifters and a supporting role in the ABC docudrama Singapore 1942: End of Empire, it was a big gamble.
“It was a huge investment and risk for me, given there were hardly any people that looked like me on the screen and stages, unless it was a stereotype,” Noor tells If.
“I’m so glad I did because of the changes we are starting to see now, although in the the majority of my on-set experiences, I have yet to see the same shift to diversity we are seeing on screen.”
Noor’s career is flourishing, reflecting his versatility. He played a bad cop in Cleverman, a doctor in Rake, a journalist in The Secrets She Keeps, an impressionable young scientist in Eddie Arya’s thriller Risen,...

Jamie Vergan..
.
If you are an aspiring filmmakers who wants to make your first feature, all you need are a script, a video camera, a tiny crew, actors who are willing to defer their fees and about $6,000.
That.s what it took for Eddie Arya to write, produce, direct and shoot The Navigator, a psychological thriller about a family who are heading off for a vacation when their Gps system diverts them to a scary place.
Filming started in the Blue Mountains in January, shooting at weekends because everyone involved has full-time day jobs. The cast comprising Jamie Vergan, Sarah Bishop, Matthew Grego, Brendan Byrne, Gemma Laurelle and Audrey and Gracie Williams agreed to defer their fees, as did the crew, but had their meals provided.
A mobile technical consultant for Optus, Arya raised enough money to shoot the film by selling his motorcycle and a Jeep Laredo.

You may not know her name but Gemma Laurelle is one of the hardest working actors in Sydney.
A former lawyer who took up acting four years ago, this year she has worked in four indie features, two short films and three web series as well as doing voice overs for video games.
Her profile ought to rise next year when all these projects are released. .My career has exploded this year,. she tells If. .I am keen on the action and sci-fi genres and love to see these on film and TV/web series. In my passion for film and finding more ways to contribute in the creative process, I have trained and taken on behind-the-camera roles, including assistant directing, assistant producing, writing and even catering on a few sets. I am looking to learn and take on more roles..
