In a Friday-night social media post, Lizzo declared, “I Quit.”
The cryptic statement came in the immediate wake of her performance at a fundraiser for President Biden, the booking of which was deemed “shameful” by the attorney for the dancers who in August filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the the four-time Grammy winner.

Music artist Lizzo (real name: Melissa Viviane Jefferson) is one of the most influential artists who rose to fame with the release of her third studio album in 2019: Cuz I Love You. The artist’s 2017 single Truth Hurts became a sleeper hit two years after its release and topped the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest-leading solo by a female rapper.
The artist, due to her weight, has been the subject of constant trolling online, but she decided to use the opportunity and advocate for plus-size women, and she has faced a lot of challenges in doing so. She has expressed over the years how she feels constantly dragged down just because she doesn’t fit in the standards of an ideal woman body type. The last couple of months haven’t been as smooth for the artist as she would have liked, and her recent statement has forced...

The American singer and rapper, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, last year denied allegations of sexual harassment towards some of her dancers on tour.
Now, the star has posted an emotional statement on Instagram, saying: “I’m getting tired up putting up with getting dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.

“Oh, I’ve been so down and under pressure,” Lizzo sings in her award-winning hit song “About Damn Time,” and the Watch Out for the Big Grrrls host might be feeling the poignancy of those lyrics more than ever right now.
A year after Lizzo won Record of the Year at the 65th annual Grammys for “About Damn Time,” the singer today finds herself facing a trial on sexual harassment, discrimination and other claims from a trio of her former tour dancers. The Marty Singer-represented Lizzo and fellow defendants Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc and dance team head Shirlene Quigley came up short in their attempt to have the explosive lawsuit filed in August gutted on free speech grounds.
“It is dangerous for the court to weigh in, ham-fisted, into constitutionally protected activity,” LA Superior Court Judge Mark Epstein wrote in a ruling made public today, rejecting a large...

Lizzo is heading to court.
If you don’t recall, back in August, the 35-year-old rapper and singer was sued by three of her former dancers, who alleged that they experienced sexual harassment, fat shaming and a hostile work environment.
A month later, Lizzo requested to have the lawsuit dismissed under California’s anti-slapp statute, which protects free speech.
On Friday (February 2), a Los Angeles judge rejected the “Truth Hurts” artist’s motion to dismiss and confirmed that the case will proceed to a trial.

Although Lizzo‘s wish for the lawsuit to be thrown out was not granted, several accusations filed by the dancers were dismissed, Billboard reports.
A sexual harassment accusation stemming from a nude photoshoot on Lizzo‘s reality competition, a disability discrimination complaint, and an allegation that Lizzo‘s team prevented dancers from accepting other work, were all dismissed.

The lawsuit alleging Lizzo harassed a trio of backup dancers had its first major court hearing Wednesday, with lawyers on both sides sparring over allegations the singer created a hostile work environment on tour.

In the face of legal accusations of assault, harassment and discrimination, Lizzo’s anti-slapp (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) filing to dismiss has been met with an opposition memo that counters what it describes as an attempt to protect the singer from consequences under the label of free speech.
The anti-slapp filing arrived on Oct. 27 in addition to denials by her representation, statements from other dancers and staffers testifying to her good character, as well as pushback from Lizzo herself. The singer asked the court to dismiss the harassment lawsuit for a variety of other reasons as well.
“Can a global celebrity be forever insulated from civil liability because all their conduct is protected as free speech under the anti-slapp statute?” lawyers for Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez rhetorically ask in a new opposition filing to the Grammy winner’s attempt to have the matter tossed out of court.

(Updated with Lizzo spokesperson statement) The legal battle over assault, harassment and discrimination claims between Lizzo and a trio of former tour dancers and reality show contestants has turned into a constitutional squabble, at least for now.

Lizzo has filed a motion to dismiss a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her by three of her former dancers, calling the accusations a “fabricated sob story” created by “opportunists” seeking “a quick payday.”
The motion was written by Martin Singer, an attorney known for his ruthless defense of celebrities like Chris Brown, Bill Cosby, and Johnny Depp. “Plaintiffs embarked on a press tour, vilifying defendants and pushing their fabricated sob story in the courts and in the media. That ends today,” Singer wrote. “Instead of taking any accountability for their own actions, plaintiffs filed this lawsuit against defendants out of spite and in pursuit of media attention, public sympathy and a quick payday with minimal effort.”
Lizzo has already denied the allegations — which include sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, and racial and disability discrimination — arguing that plaintiffs Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez were fired due to...

Lizzo has formally denied the accusations against her and asked a judge to dismiss the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers last month.
In court documents filed by the Grammy winner’s legal team on Thursday and obtained by Et, Lizzo — whose legal name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson — and her touring group are asking the courts to dismiss the case made against them by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, saying the former dancers’ court filing “fails to state facts sufficient to constitute a cause of action against Defendants.”
The filed response claims the “plaintiffs are guilty of unclean hands,” which is a legal term meaning that they are not entitled to any damages because they allegedly acted in bad faith and/or unethically.

On Aug. 1, three of Lizzo's former dancers filed a lawsuit against the 35-year-old musician. In the suit, obtained by NBC News, plaintiffs Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez detailed the hostile work environment they allegedly endured during their time on tour, including weight shaming, verbal altercations, and forced participation in a sex show. They also claimed that the captain of Lizzo's dance team, Shirlene Quigley, frequently overshared personal details about her sex life and religious beliefs during rehearsals, identifying one of the plaintiffs as a "non-believer" and openly discussing the virginity of another in interviews and on social media.
On Aug. 23, the Los Angeles Times reported that Lizzo had reached a settlement with 14 dancers six months before news about the new lawsuit broke. In 2022, according to the outlet, 14 dancers alleged that behind-the-scenes footage of them was used without their consent in Lizzo's HBO Max documentary, "Love Lizzo." Alan Brunswick,...

Lizzo is speaking out amid sexual harassment and hostile work allegations aimed at the pop star from former dancers.
“I am not here to be looked at as a victim, but I also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days,” wrote the Grammy-winning singer in a lengthy statement on Instagram (below) on Thursday. “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”
This week, Lizzo’s former dancers accused the pop star and her employees of interrogating them about their weight and pressuring them to engage in sexually explicit acts at sex shows. The dancers, two of whom appear on Lizzo’s reality show, said they were subjected to a hostile work environment and dealt with sexual harassment, even claiming they were pushed to engage with nude performers.

As Lizzo has been hit with a sexual harassment and hostile workplace lawsuit from her former backup dancers, documentary filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison has come forward with her own claims of bad behavior from the pop star. Allison, an Oscar nominee for her 2019 documentary short “A Love for Latasha,” alleged on social media Wednesday that she left the directing position for a Lizzo documentary after “being treated with such disrespect” by the Grammy winner.
Allison shared her allegations via an Instagram story she posted on Wednesday and on Twitter. In the story, Allison claimed that she shadowed Lizzo for two weeks in order to direct a documentary about her. However, Allison said she left the project because of “arrogant, self-centered, and unkind” behavior from Lizzo, claiming she was “thrown into a shitty situation with little support.”

Lizzo has been sued by a trio of her former touring dancers for sexual harassment, assault, discrimination and fostering a “hostile work environment.”
In a broad complaint for unspecified damages filed Tuesday morning in Los Angeles Superior Court, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez also allege that they were body-shamed, put through a self-described “excruciating” audition for their own jobs after they were accused of drinking on the clock, and held to prohibitive “soft hold” retainers. Naming four-time Grammy winner Lizzo herself (aka) Melissa Jefferson, plus Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. and Shirlene Quigley, the head of the performer’s dance team, the suit (read it here) vividly describes the dancers being forced to attend and participate in sex shows while on tour, having their virginity mocked, being subject to religious diatribes as well as a case of “false imprisonment.”
