The “American Idol” finale on Sunday will open with the Top 7 reduced to the five finalists. We are predicting that Julia Gargano and Louis Knight will be eliminated. But which of the Top 5 — Arthur Gunn, Dillon James, Just Sam, Francisco Martin and Jonny West. — will win?
We’ve been surveying viewers all season long. In our exclusive “American Idol” winner predictions, Arthur Gunn remains out in front to take the title on May 17. But Just Sam is catching up in the final hours leading up to the live show. And Francisco Martin is making a late break for the finish line as well. But don’t count out the other Top 5 finalists in our “American Idol” season 18 rankings: Dillon James and Jonny West. Remember, Laine Hardy pulled off an upset over frontrunner Alejandro Aranda last year.

Megan Fox is opening up about a dark period in her life.
The actress, 33, spoke to Entertainment Tonight about nearly reaching a “breaking point” after the 2009 release of Jennifer’s Body in which she found herself consistently being sexualized in films and media.
“It wasn’t just that movie, it was every day of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with,” Fox said. “It preceded a breaking point for me.”
The pressure of unwanted attention had a severe effect on the actress.

This month marks 20 years since Ricky Martin dropped his self-titled, English-language LP — forever shifting the course of American pop music.
Released May 11th, 1999, Ricky Martin would sell nearly ten million copies worldwide within its first month. Its astronomical success was due in no small part to its single, “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” which was dropped earlier that March. Co-written with his fellow Menudo alum, Draco Rosa, as well as hitmaker Desmond Child, the salsa-rock fusion track would not just ascend to Number One on the Billboard Hot 100; but it would...

On Sunday’s “American Idol,” two of the Top 5 contestants were eliminated: Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota. Although they performed at the top of their game, in the end their three rival finalists got more of America’s votes. That leading trio of vote-getters as revealed by Ryan Seacrest are: Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg. (Vote in our ‘American Idol’ winner poll.)
This result meant that Laci and Wade fell just short of making the Top 3. We asked you which of these two talents to be sent home was robbed of a place in the finale next Sunday (May 19). By a margin of 56% to 44% “(as of this writing), “American Idol” viewers favor Wade over Laci.

The May 12 episode of “American Idol” showcased the Top 5. As with the last three Sunday shows, this episode aired live nationwide. America got to vote for their favorites in real-time, with the results revealed by host Ryan Seacrest at the end of the episode.
The top three vote-getters — Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg — will contend in the final next week. And the bottom two — Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota — were bounced from the competition.

Laci Kaye Booth didn’t win enough viewer votes on the Top 6 episode of “American Idol” to make it into the semi-finals. But Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie used their one judges save of the season on May 5 to throw her a lifeline and give her the last slot in the Top 5. Unfortunately for Laci, her most recent performances have not been the post popular with viewers.
We polled “Idol” fans to rank her nine performances to date and their favorite was her first. That cover of the Ray Charles classic “Georgia on My Mind” from the Top 40 show has earned a whopping 28% of the total tally to date. Also scoring well with viewers were Laci’s Top 20 solo — “I Want You To Want Me” by Cheap Trick — which has 23% of the vote, and her Top 20 duet with Brett Young on his hit “Mercy,” which merits 12% support.

Laci Kaye Booth is almost certain to face elimination on “American Idol” this Sunday according to the results of our poll of viewers. She only made the final five on last Sunday’s episode when Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie decided to use their one judges save of the season to keep her in the competition. But she has earned only a measly 6% in our survey of “American Idol” fans heading into the Top 5 show on May 12.
The other contestant joining her in the bottom two is likely to be Madison VanDenburg who merited a mere 8% in our poll results. All five singers still in the competition will take to the stage on Sunday to perform a trio of tunes. Each will sing a song from the Elton John catalog, another picked out by mentor Bobby Bones and a third in honor of Mother’s Day.

Laci got the good news in the closing seconds of the show while Jeremiah was sent packing.

The Sunday May 5 episode of “American Idol” spotlighted the Top 6. Each of these half dozen finalists sang two tunes: one from the summer of 1969 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock musical festival and another chosen as inspirational by Grammy-winning Christian singer Lauren Daigle, who got her start on the show.
As the show was seen live from coast-to-coast, America cast votes for their favorites in real-time. The results were revealed by host Ryan Seacrest at the end of the two-hour episode. The bottom two — Laci Kaye Booth and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — were to be eliminated unless the judges chose to use their single save of the season. After a nerve-wracking few moments, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie opted to throw a lifeline to Laci.

January 10, 2019 marks 20 years since The Sopranos debuted on HBO, effectively changing television as we know it. The mob drama from David Chase helped put James Gandolfini and Edie Falco on the map with six seasons of explosive drama. It also ended with one of the most divisive and debated scenes in TV history. You remember how it goes. Tony Soprano (Gandolfini) is with his wife, Carmela (Falco), son (Robert Iler) and they're waiting for daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) to join them at the table inside the restaurant. The final scene has Journey's "Don't Stop Believin''" playing and Tony looking up at the sound of the door opening. And cut to black. Was Tony taken out? Killed by rivals?...

In an interview with the New York Times, the actress, 32, shared that although she’s addressed injustices directed towards women in Hollywood before, based on the backlash she’s faced throughout her career, she thought she would be painted as an “unsympathetic victim” if she chose to add her voice to the conversation surrounding sexual misconduct.
“I didn’t speak out for many reasons,” she told the newspaper. “I just didn’t think based on how I’d been received by people,...

Exclusive: Warner Bros is re-teaming with its Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu to chronicle the journey of Arnel Pineda, a Filipino singer rescued from obscurity by a YouTube video that led him to become the lead singer of the iconic ’80s arena rock band Journey. Discovered on YouTube by Journey co-founder Neal Schon, who’d finally found the rare singer able to reliably replicate the soaring vocals of exited original lead singer Steve Perry, Pineda revived Journey and put the band back in stadiums once again. Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen will produce, and the search for a writer is underway.
The studio is negotiating to license the original Journey tunes, most written by Perry and Schon, and Warner Bros has acquired rights to Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey. That was the 2012 documentary that chronicled Pineda’s impossible rise. Chu’s vision is to make...

The New York Times has officially canceled a pair of pricey trips to Saudi Arabia next month offered to the public as part of the paper’s “journeys” program. In a statement, the Times said the decision was a direct result of ongoing uncertainty surrounding the whereabouts of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.
“In light of the uncertainty surrounding the disappearance of the Washington Post’s Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Turkey, The New York Times has decided to cancel all upcoming Times Journeys departures to Saudi Arabia,” a spokesperson told TheWrap Friday morning.
It’s unclear how many people will be affected, but both trips had been sold out.

It’s a Monday afternoon in August, and Steve Perry is cheerfully belting out the Backstreet Boys’ “As Long As You Love Me.” Perry is visiting a buddy at his house in San Francisco, and the singer — who grew up on Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and the Kingston Trio, and doesn’t listen to much current pop — is giving an example of a relatively modern song that caught his ear. “I love songs like this,” he says of the tune, a Max Martin–penned ballad from 1997. “I’m a sappy guy.

Steve Perry emerged from two decades of seclusion in August with new single “No Erasin'” off his upcoming album Traces. It was a rather stunning development for Journey fans that had largely given up on ever hearing him sing again, especially after he refused to perform with his old group when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. But in new interviews, Perry revealed that after losing his girlfriend Kellie Nash to cancer in 2012, he decided it was time to face the world again.

Steve Perry, the reclusive former Journey frontman who hasn’t put out a new album in nearly a quarter century, will return this fall with a new LP, Traces. The record, which Perry coproduced with Thom Flowers, contains nine original songs and a cover of the Beatles’ “I Need You.” It’s due out October 5th.
The first single, “No Erasin’,” tells the story of a school reunion with an ex-flame but its words also fit his story of walking away. “I know it’s been a long time comin’ since I saw your face,...

Over a year after they began dating, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are still smitten with each other. The sexy couple proved it when Alex posted an Instagram video on Aug. 6 during a romantic date night in Italy. In it, Jennifer's serenading him with Journey's 1981 hit, "Don't Stop Believin'."
"What did you guys think of my performance?! . #dontstopbelieving," he captioned the video. The two look dashing with Jennifer in a sexy outfit and Alex looking oh so handsome.
This isn't the first time Jennifer has serenaded her man with a Journey song. For his birthday, Alex posted a different video of Jennifer, along with a group of their friends and family, singing to Journey's "Faithfully." In the caption, he admitted to being an "'80s rock guy at heart," so it's clear Jennifer knows exactly what makes Alex happy.

When it comes to celebrity kids, no one’s babies are more adorable than Megan Fox’s. Problem is, we never get to see them! The mommy-of-three keeps a pretty low profile when it comes to her children and understandably so. The last time she shared a picture of her two older sons — Bodhi Ransom Green, 4 and Noah Shannon Green, 5 — she was seriously mom-shamed for not cutting their hair. So much so, that fans actually thought they were girls. How ridiculous! Thankfully, the 32-year-old hasn’t let that stop her from sharing more precious moments, however rare. On June 29, the actress posted a precious snapshot of her son Journey River Green, 2, and we’re in love. #mood A post shared by Megan Fox (@the_native_tiger) on Jun 29, 2018 at 3:10am Pdt Captioning the picture, "#mood," Megan was clearly living for Journey’s sassy side-eye and so are we. With the Yacht Rock revival in full swing, it was only a matter of time before someone tackled a cover of Toto’s “Africa,” the 1982 hit written by David Paich and the late Jeff Porcaro, inspired by a late-night documentary Paich caught on TV one night. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, spurred by the Steve Barron-directed video starring Paich as a researcher in a library-turned-jungle, with the book he’s reading coming to life.

Maddie Poppe won season 16 of “American Idol” over Gabby Barrett and Caleb Lee Hutchinson on Monday May 21. Are you happy with this result? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in our comments section with your thoughts on this ABC revival as well as your opinion of host Ryan Seacrest and judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
After Seacrest announced that Poppe had won this first edition of the ABC version of “American Idol,” she performed her winner’s single: the indie-influenced “Going Going Gone.” That track was released last Friday and has already sold well on on iTunes. But Barrett and Hutchinson have also done well with sales and reviews for their singles: the country-flavored “Rivers Deep” and “Johnny Cash Heart” respectively.
Poppe pulled off an upset over Barrett, who had been predicted to prevail by a whopping 51% of viewers in our overnight poll following Sunday’s final.

The results are in on the rebooted “American Idol” and the winning contestant is… Maddie Poppe.
From the moment 20-year old Iowa native Poppe auditioned with “The Rainbow Connection,” she was a clear frontrunner. And week after week, viewers saw her blossom into an artist. As Perry often complimented, Poppe has impeccable musical taste and a whole lot of talent. Among Poppe’s winning performances was her rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound” and “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys.
Poppe’s prize includes a recording contract with Hollywood Records. Speaking to Variety last week, Disney Music Group president Ken Bunt said that the company was committed “to continue telling the story of the winner.”
Gabby Barrett was eliminated earlier in the night. She, along with Hutchinson and Pope, each performed three songs on the May 20 episode: a hometown dedication, an encore of their favorite song of the season,...

For its season finale, “Saturday Night Live” decided to channel a show with one of the most (in)famous series finales of all time: “The Sopranos.” Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump took the Tony Soprano role, because of course he did, and was joined in the cold open by both regular cast members and other special guests.
Before any of his guests to join him at Holsten’s Restaurant in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Trump turns on the jukebox so we can listen to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” once again. Giuliani shows up first to talk about his most recent appearances on Fox News, and after being thanked for his services assures his boss that he’s “the best and last client I’ll ever have.”
Cohen arrives next, visibly shaken by his ongoing legal troubles: “They said I might get 20 years unless I give you up,” he tells Trump.
