- The band's name is taken from a model of truck put out by REO Motors at the beginning of the 20th century.
- Members included Kevin Cronin, Dave Amato, Bryan Hitt, Neal Doughty, Bruce Hall, and lead guitarist and composer Gary Richrath, who left the band in 1989 and died in 2015.
- Their song "Ridin' the Storm Out" is unique in that the recorded studio and live versions feature different lead vocalists. Mike Murphy sang the studio version, replacing Kevin Cronin after Cronin left due to creative differences, while Cronin later sang the live version on "You Get What You Play For" after rejoining the band.
