In a major pivot for a platform that had touted itself as a more artist-friendly destination than streaming giants like Spotify and Apple Music, Bandcamp is cutting a significant number of employees.
Songtradr, the Santa Monica-based music licensing service that acquired Bandcamp from Epic Games, said on Monday that it had closed the deal for the music discovery platform. Some 60 Bandcamp staffers, out of 118, were offered employment to join Songtradr’s staff of 369 workers, a company spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter, adding: “People who didn’t receive offers from Songtradr will receive severance from Epic as part of their layoffs as communicated on September 28.”
Bandcamp’s moment as an Epic Games product — it was acquired in March 2022 by the maker of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine — lasted less than two years. At the time, Epic Games executive Steve Allison thought the acquisition would add to “Epic’s approach to supporting...

Video game developer Epic Games has announced it is selling Bandcamp just 18 months after acquiring the music distribution platform. Music licensing platform and marketplace company Songtradr will acquire the company for an undisclosed sum.
The sale coincides with the news that Epic Games is laying off 830 employees, or 16% of its workforce, in addition to divesting from Bandcamp and spinning off SuperAwesome’s advertising business. In a statement, Steve Allison, vice president and general manager of the Epic Games store, said the sale would “make it easier for independent artists to connect with creators and developers looking to license their music and enable Epic to focus on its core metaverse, games, and tools efforts.”
For its part, Songtradr promised to “continue to operate Bandcamp as a marketplace and music community with an artist-first revenue share.” According to Songtradr’s own announcement, it will offer artists “the ability and choice to have...

Fans of the Seven Kingdoms won’t have to wait too much longer before venturing into Telltale’s Game of Thrones, after a recent Tweet by the studio revealed that the episodic series will premiere “soon”. At six episodes in length, the soon-to-be-released tale will run a little bit longer than the company’s Mo, given that The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us both adhered to five releases per season.
Here’s the Tweet in question, courtesy of Telltale Games:

After tackling brands such as Star Wars and Marvel Comics, the team over at Zen Studios is now developing a table based around Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead series, which will be available through both Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX 2 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Windows PC and more.
Based around the first season of the hit series, The Walking Dead table will take players through a variety of locations visited by Clementine and Lee, including Everett’s pharmacy and the “walker-infested streets of Savannah.” Much like the award-winning series it is based on, the table will also force players to solve a variety of problems, acquire food and supplies, make difficult choices on who to save and who to leave behind and navigate through walker hordes in order to reach safety. I’m not quite sure how a pinball table will be able to capture all of...

Zen Studios, the makers behind the incredible Pinball FX2 and all it's various tables (including my favorites the Star Wars ones) have announced that they're partnering with Telltale Games in order to make a pinball table based off of their highly successful The Walking Dead games! Come inside to take your first look at it and learn more about this collaboration!
My love of virtual pinball games is well documented, and frankly, Zen Studios makes the best ones out there. So any new table they bring, I'm interested in. Combine that with my love of The Walking Dead, and I'll be downloading this as soon as it drops sometime this Summer:
The pinball masters at Zen Studios have partnered with leading developer of digital entertainment Telltale Games and Robert Kirkman, the Eisner Award-winning creator and writer of The Walking Dead for his Skybound imprint at Image Comics, to create an...

Telltale Games knows how to make an excellent game out of a popular cable TV show. They did it with their episodic adaptation of The Walking Dead, which offered a more thoughtful approach to the zombie genre than the typical run-around-and-kill-stuff type of game (not that running around and killing stuff isn’t a whole lot of fun). Now they may be turning their talents towards another show by making a game based on everyone’s favorite ultra-violent fantasy epic, Game of Thrones.
This rumor comes courtesy of IGN, who claim to have been told by “multiple sources” that the game is in the works. The timing is right too, as Telltale Games is just about to release the second “season” of The Walking Dead and are likely looking for their next big hit. Game of Thrones, despite being an immensely popular book series and an immensely popular TV series,...

According to IGN, they've heard from "multiple sources" that Telltale Games are developing a new game based on Game of Thrones. There's currently no word on whether it will actually follow the original George R.R. Martin books or the hit HBO series, but it's good news for gamers either way. The Walking Dead was a hit with fans and critics alike, while Fables has been met just as positively. When the site reached out to Telltale, they received the following statement from Steve Allison, Svp of Publishing: We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment." That's exactly the sort of response you might expect, so we'll just have to wait for the official announcement sometime in the next few weeks.
