Will WWE icon Edge retire this Friday?
The Rated-r Superstar says he’s still mulling it over.
There’s been rampant speculation that the 49-year-old Canadian wrestler, born Adam Copeland, will hang up his tights after Friday’s SmackDown show in his hometown of Toronto when he squares off against Sheamus.

Edge’s longtime trainer, Ron Hutchinson, said the bout — being billed by WWE as Edge’s “25th anniversary special” — will be his “last match,” reports veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, as per WrestlingNews.
Speaking this week with Et Canada’s Carlos Bustamante, Edge revealed that while Friday’s match will in fact be the last match on his current contract, he isn’t entirely sure whether it’ll be the final match of his career.

WWE 2K23 features quite a few improvements to the franchise formula that will certainly be welcomed by wrestling game fans everywhere. Of course, some things never change, which means that WWE 2K23 still makes you unlock quite a few wrestlers via gameplay accomplishments and by spending both real and virtual currency.
The very good news is that WWE 2K23 makes the various unlock processes fairly painless. The problem is that the game doesn’t always do a great job of telling you exactly how to unlock those wrestlers or the best way to go about acquiring all of them. Hopefully, we can help ease that part of the unlock system just a bit.
How to Unlock Every WWE 2K23 Wrestler With Virtual Currency
The vast majority of wrestlers in WWE 2K23 are unlocked via the game’s Virtual Currency (Vc) system. Every wrestler available via the in-game store costs 1,000 Vc to unlock.

This year’s PPV features the eagerly awaited match between Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn… Plus we’ve got a huge card filled with matches that will have a direct effect on this year’s Wrestlemania. Let’s get into it!
Match #1: Women’s Elimination Chamber Match – Winner: Asuka The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
An unforgettable performance allowed Asuka to book her ticket to WrestleMania by defeating five other Superstars inside the vaunted Elimination Chamber. Liv Morgan and Natalya kicked off the action and the women immediately began using the hellish structure to batter one another. The Canadian Superstar thrashed the smaller Morgan, sending her into the chamber wall and face-first into the pod housing Nikki Cross, who gave the action a twisted smile. Match #1: Finn Bálor & Damian Priest def. The Street Profits The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the first Raw matchup of the night, Finn Balor used interference from Dominik Mysterio to hit the Coup De Grace on Angelo Dawkins and give himself and Damian Priest the victory. After the bell, the dark faction attempted a post-match beat down on The Street Profits. In response, Edge and Beth Phoenix charged in to even the odds. In the midst of that bedlam, The Glamazon attacked Dominik. As she did, Rhea Ripley suddenly entered behind her and hit the Riptide on the WWE Hall of Famer.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Piper Niven def.

The story of Eva Marie is fascinating. It’s definitely not a complicated one. Eva Marie would’ve fit perfectly in the Diva’s era of WWE. The problem? That’s easily regarded as the worst era for women’s wrestling in the company. Though names like Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, and Melina existed during this time, WWE cared more about looks than the actual wrestling portion. The company was notoriously known for hiring models instead of wrestlers, with Alicia Foxx, Candice Michelle, Summer Rae, and The Bella Twins being prime examples. These women had athletic back rounds on their resumes, but professional wrestling wasn’t

In a case of serious New Years Revolution deja-vu, WWE is back with a brand new New Years PPV. Wait? What was that? They are calling PPVs ‘Premium Live Events’ now, erm, ok then. That makes it sound like some sort of rich person’s stage show but whatever. All I ask is that if you are calling something “premium” WWE, please let us not have a repeat of the wonky kind of quality we had in 2021 eh? Ta very much. Anyway, here is what went down at WWE’s first event of 2022 bang on New Year’s Day!

Match #1: Shayna Baszler def. Bayley (Disqualification) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Shayna Baszler was focused on making a case for a SmackDown Women’s Title opportunity, but Nia Jax helped her enter another championship picture. Following a backstage encounter, Jax entered after Baszler and watched from the WWE ThunderDome. A big knee strike from The Queen of Spades shook up Bayley and had her teammate Sasha Banks uneasy on the outside. Unable to help herself, Jax entered the fray and got brutal payback for Baszler’s backstage taunts with a huge right hand. “The Golden Role Models” found perhaps their first moment of joy since a turbulent SummerSlam as they watched.

The new episode of WWE’s 24 series follows “The Rated-r Superstar” Edge and his return to WWE this January. This, I have to say, is the best episode WWE has ever done of this show, and if you watch any WWE Network Original show right now, make it this one.
The episode doesn’t merely follow Edge’s return, but talks about his life over the years since he retired back in 2012. It’s been a long and winding road for the former multi-time WWE Champion and Hall of Famer, and we hear stories all about it here, from Edge himself, and those closest to him, such as his wife Beth Phoenix and close lifelong friend Christian. Hearing tales of the difficulties he had with his forced retirement due to injury and the things he’s been through, such as the awful loss of his mother, is hard to watch but very relevant.

You’ve heard the tagline by now. WrestleMania 36 is “too big for just one night.” Well, with 16 matches on the card, the show likely would have stretched to five or six hours if it was going ahead as planned in Tampa, in front of about 70,000 people. Instead, these matches have been pre-taped in an empty WWE Performance Center, and WWE is, wisely, choosing to break up the show over Saturday and Sunday night so they don’t completely burn out fans. Here’s our preview of what to expect, and picks for WrestleMania 36.
1. Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair for the Nxt Women’s Championship

The Main Event may be a family film set to arrive on Netflix, but its content might make you think it’s something streaming on the WWE Network, since the wrestling-themed family film is packed with the wrestling company’s stars.
Indeed, what we have here is a fantastical wish-fulfillment offering in which an 11-year-old, played by Seth Carr finds a magical luchador mask that enhanced abilities that he uses for a crucial competition to become a WWE superstar.

One of my favourite things to read, and I’m a big reader, is a good wrestling book. There are a whole bunch of autobiographies out there from a load of wrestlers, and the world of bodyslams and Monday night warfare is not short of a million crazy stories, so these books tend to be jam-packed with entertaining anecdotes, life stories, road-tales and a variety of things to keep fans (and perhaps some non-fans) hooked from page-one. I thought it might be fun to assemble a top ten list of what I feel are the ten best wrestler autobiographies out there right now. We’re fast approaching the release of Jim Ross’ second book, Under the Black Hat, which will be released at the end of March, so what better time to talk about wrestling books, that right now? Let’s go!

Since he entered semi-retirement, the Undertaker’s two or three matches per year don’t require much storyline. The Deadman returns, wrestles his match, and then goes back to his home in Texas until the next Saudi show or WrestleMania comes around. That’s changing with this year’s WrestleMania 36 Undertaker match, though.
Aj Styles cut a bizarre promo on last night’s Raw, outing former WWE women’s wrestler Michelle McCool as Undertaker’s wife. McCool married Undertaker, a.k.a. Mark Calaway, back in 2010. But that hasn’t been acknowledged on WWE television until now.
Historically, Calaway has kept the Undertaker character very close to the vest. There are stories about how he would rarely even interact with fans at an airport when he was the “deadman” character, but was more than willing to interact with fans when he utilized the biker gimmick in the early-2000’s.

A battle of 30 women. A battle of 30 men. Two winners are on their way to WrestleMania. So who won and what surprises did we get?
It’s January and now that the holidays are over with and the Wrestle Kingdom has closed it borders, wrestling fans can look forward to the most exciting PPV WWE tends to put out on an annual basis. That’s right, it’s time for WWE Royal Rumble 2020, the show that acts as the beginning to the Road to WrestleMania, but is honestly better to sit through. Introduced in 1988, the Royal Rumble event has been a major cog in the company’s calendar, centered around its mostly-unpredictable 30-man match.
This year’s show will be the third event to feature two Royal Rumble matches. One for the men and one for the women. It just so happens that the men’s match...

Don't underestimate Nia Jax! The WWE superstar conquers her double knee injury and fear of heights in this inspirational clip from tonight's new Total Divas, which sees Jax climb up to the squared circle's top rope during a four-way WrestleMania match for the Women's Tag Team Championship title. We only catch a few minutes of the competition in today's preview, and already, things are heating up. "They are beating the s--t out of Nia," Carmella notes, watching Nattie Neidhart and tag partner Beth Phoenix take turns pummeling their opponent. This is all par for the course in pro wrestling—and rest assured, Nia and Tamina Snuka are dishing it out too—though Jax's torn...

Things are coming full circle for Nattie Neidhart. Alongside tag partner and real-life friend Beth Phoenix, the WWE superstar (professionally known as Natalya) has officially earned her spot at WrestleMania 35 in this emotional clip from tonight's new Total Divas. Being that her late father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart was a wrestling icon and seasoned WrestleMania competitor prior to his 2018 passing—as Nattie explains in the clip, her dad and uncle Bret Hart are still widely regarded as "one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history"—his daughter is thrilled to honor his legacy with her addition to the 2019 event's performance roster. Some of these facts might be well-known to WWE fans that have been following Beth Phoenix, or rather, Beth Copeland, for quite a while, but the average reader might not know all that much. Beth is at this time still fairly active in the WWE but it’s not known for how long since at this point she’s only a couple years shy of her 40th birthday and despite being in great shape and seeming as though she’s enjoying where she’s at, time doesn’t just stand still or rewind when it comes to wrestlers. WrestleMania Fever took over New York and New Jersey this weekend, bringing big crowds of WWE fans to both the Big Apple and the Garden State.
While the celebrations kicked off a few days ago, the real deal was Sunday night, when the Super Bowl of professional wrestling returned to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The open-air arena is normally home to the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets.
The packed roster for WrestleMania 35 included Superstars in high profile match-ups, like a winner-take-all main event between Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch, Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston, Aj Styles vs. Randy Orton, The Miz vs. Shane McMahon, and women’s tag teams Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Beth Phoenix and Natalya vs. Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka vs. The IIconics.

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection, Beth Phoenix & Natalya def. Nia Jax, Tamina & The IIconics The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Is Beth Phoenix’s return from retirement just a nostalgia trip? WWE Universe, it is not. The Glamazon was a house on fire in an Eight-Woman Tag Team Match six days before WrestleMania’s cross-generational Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, and she was a problem for champions and challengers alike in what ended up being her first Raw victory in nearly seven years. Daniel Bryan not only had to defend his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, but a surprise challenger!
Well, WrestleMania is almost here! Unfortunately, before we can see what’s what that card is going to mostly look like, we have to drive through WWE Fastlane 2019. Fastlane started back in 2015 as the last major stop before WrestleMania with a main event tricking you into thinking that Roman Reigns might not main event WrestleMania 31. That was followed with a Fastlane main event that tricked you into thinking that Roman Reigns might not main event WrestleMania 32. The one that followed had Bill Goldberg beat Kevin Owens in a nonsense match meant to move the Universal Championship into a different feud. Then there was last year’s event which...man, I just looked at the results and it’s the most forgettable show in recent memory. Wow.

Three women. Two titles. Winner take all. We have the results of all 16 WrestleMania 35 matches!
With Royal Rumble left in the dust, Elimination Chamber hung up, and Fastlane behind us, that means that WrestleMania 35 is on the horizon! WWE’s biggest show has been a staple since the 80s and has given us plenty of fantastic moments. From the days of King Kong Bundy crushing Special Delivery Jones in mere seconds to Braun Strowman pulling a child out of the crowd to help him win the tag titles, WrestleMania has been the wrestling show with the brightest spotlight.
Then again, the Raw and SmackDown after it are way better. The Nxt TakeOver show the night before is pretty much superior too. The Hall of Fame ceremony...? Eh.

Bobby Roode and Chad Gable beat Scott Dawson and Rezar (w/Drake Maverick) – Tag Team Match
My Take: 2.5 out of 5 – This was standard stuff that gave these guys a few minutes to show off a few moves, but no chance to really take advantage of being at a huge event with a big crowd.
Shinsuke Nakamura (New Champion) beat Rusev (w/Lana) – U.S. Championship Match
My Take: 3 out of 5 – This was a pretty good match that saw Nakamura regain the title. I assumed that Rusev was made champion just because Nakamura’s contract might have been up, so if he has won it back then I would assume he is going to stay…maybe.
Buddy Murphy (Still Champion) beat Hideo Itami,...

The Royal Rumble is less than two weeks away, and for the first time in history, the WWE Championship will be defended in the over-the-top-rope match (the title was on the line in 1992, but it was vacant). For years, the Rumble has been one of the most anticipated nights of the WWE calendar, because the Rumble match itself only happens once a year.
There are many aspects of the Rumble match that are great, with the surprise of who enters at which number being one of the more exhilarating parts. Over the past decade or so, we have seen the inclusion of many surprise entrants who were not previously announced.
Sometimes it’s how people make their return to the company, or their return from injury. Other times, it’s a one-time-only return simply to pop the crowd and give them a nice dose of sweet nostalgia. Either way,...

Seasonal shows have been a staple of their television output for as long as I can remember going as far back as Captain Lou Albano reading Christmas stories on WWE programming; through the Attitude era, where the fun of Xmas was juxaposed with the more hardcore on-screen action; to more recent episodes of Raw and the likes of the “Good Santa vs. Bad Santa” match between Mark Henry and Damien Sandow in 2013.
The WWE Christmas Collection sees Christmas come early to the WWE universe as “The Hardcore Legend” Mick Foley and his daughter Noelle (side note: I’m sure Foley’s daughter takes after her mothers side of ther family…) as they go on a quest to find Santa Claus, all the while reminiscing about classic WWE moments and matches from Christmas’ past. Yes...

Aj Lee is set to make her WWE television return to Raw tonight in Newark, New Jersey. The Jersey native is backstage at the show according to PWinsider and is set to return this evening.
The expectation is that Lee will return as a babyface to go against the Bella Twins. It will likely be one of those situations where the Bellas are doing some 2-on-1 attack against their main rival Paige, which would lead to Lee running out for the save. That will probably lead to some match at WrestleMania with the Bella Twins taking on Aj & Paige although if they did that then Nikki’s Divas Title wouldn’t be on the line unless they do a “winner gets the title” kind of tag match. Another option is Nikki Bella defending the Divas Title in a 4-way match.

The WWE Hall of Fame is the highest honor for anybody in the wrestling business to be recognized for their contributions to what WWE has called sports entertainment. While the WWE Hall of Fame is questionable sometimes in terms of who is inducted and who is ignored, it’s always a tremendous honor for somebody to be inducted.
Most years the WWE Hall of Fame follows a similar formula. They induct about five or six living people, at least one person posthumously (like Randy Savage this year) and then in recent years there has typically been a female inductee as well. There hasn’t been a woman announced for this year’s class yet, so it’s a good time to explore some of the possibilities.
There are several women in their 30s like Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool, Eve Torres and others that could go in although...

The holidays have passed, but Christmas for wrestling fans is just around the corner. The Royal Rumble is one of the best – if not the best – things WWE does each year. WrestleMania might have the glitz and glamour, but the annual Rumble match has everything that is great about professional wrestling all rolled up in one format.
That might sound like hyperbole, but when done right, the Royal Rumble really has everything a fan could want: surprise returns, star-making moments, emotional eliminations, humorous encounters, suspenseful teases and multiple storylines colliding, all in the span of about an hour. In the right balance, this makes for a highly entertaining night for wrestling fans, and there are huge stakes with the winner punching his ticket to WrestleMania.
Whether it’s a long-lost superstar returning for one night only, an underdog eliminating a main eventer or a wrestler creatively escaping elimination,...

Every time we hear Michael Cole try to attach some sort of prestige to the WWE Divas Championship, it’s hard not to snicker a little. While it’s fair that Aj Lee’s 295-day title reign did help restore some sanity, there was a period where it seemed like every Diva on the roster was a former champ – and it almost was true.
At WrestleMania Xxvi in 2010, the Divas division was on full display in a 10-woman match that ended when the only non-wrestler in the bunch, Vickie Guerrero, hit a “hog splash” (as the announcers called it) for the win. What’s noteworthy is that all nine of the other Divas who participated in the match (Michelle McCool, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Layla, Beth Phoenix, Eve, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim) at one point or another held either the Divas Championship or the WWE Women’s Championship.
