- Ant's compositions can be heard on Six Feet Under (2001), Boston Legal (2004) and Las Vegas (2003) and he currently writes for film, television and commercials in both the U.S. and Europe.
Ant (aka Antony Neely) was born in Chipping Sodbury, England. He spent his early childhood in Qatar in the Persian Gulf and has since lived in the U.S. and all over the U.K. At the age of five he was struck by lightning while playing with a handful of ants. The result was not (as expected) a recombination of Ant's DNA and the ant's DNA, more a combination of a shell-shocked Ant and a pile of dead insects.
He learned to play guitar in his early teens. Jazz was his first love and he worked hard building his dexterity as a player. He performed all over Britain as a solo jazz guitarist, in various jazz ensembles, in a Latin big band and in funk bands. His discovery of the electronic music scene sparked a fascination with exploring different genres which has continued ever since.
In 1998, he co-formed the critically acclaimed band subthunk with Alex U'Ren and toured the western United States. His compositions for the band received radio play throughout the U.S., and it was via radio play on L.A.'s KCRW that Ant first came to the attention of film and television producers and music editors.
According to Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, and music composer on films such as 'Life Aquatic', 'The Royal Tenenbaums' and 'Rushmore': "the masses are asses who need subthunk glasses".- IMDb Mini Biography By: Reginald Braithwaite
