Philadelphia producer RJD2 has returned with a hip-shaking new song, “Pull Up on Love,” the lead single from his upcoming album, The Fun Ones, out April 17th.

This sweltering evening in London town saw the return of one of the brightest stars in the cinematic sky. Director Edgar Wright brought his latest film to the capital and we were there to meet him and the cast on the red carpet of Baby Driver.
The new film from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz man Edgar Wright stars Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Eliza Gonzalez, Cj Jones, Jon Bernthal, Lanny Joon, and Paul Williams which is a ridiculously good cast. They are elevated in the film by Baby’s Driver secret weapon – the soundtrack. You can see the full tracklist below, and will no doubt have enjoyed the kinetically pleasing trailers. Wright’s command of editing and his keen ear for cinematically apposite music is put to full use in the film, and you can read our 5 star review of the film right here.

The Guardians of the Galaxy films are famous for incorporating classic tracks into the films' scenes and narrative -- nothing beats watching Kurt Russell talk his way through 'Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)' by Looking Glass. James Gunn is not the only director who very carefully considers every track, writes to the music he has picked, and seamlessly weaves it into his films. Edgar Wright has been obsessed with his musical choices since his TV show Spaced, with the following soundtracks for Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World all including some pretty deep cuts that make for fine listening, long after you've seen the film.
Baby Driver is Wright's next film, and the latest trailer not only included 'Tequila' by The Champs, but was also titled "Official TeKillYah Trailer" to put further emphasis on the music. The trailer also sports...

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver couldn’t very well have a limp wristed soundtrack to pound the ears of our fast paced getaway driver so who better to lend a few musical strings than the likes of Queen, Blur, Beck and (obviously) Simon and Garfunkel.

The onus falls heavily on a music based theme and heavy weights tracks are needed to help Baby (Ansel Elgort) in order to time bank robbery getaways with beat perfect precision. In “Baby Driver,” Ansel Elgort plays a getaway driver who constantly has music playing in order to drown out his tinnitus. And, like “Drive” before it, that music seems to be an integral part of the experience in Edgar Wright’s upcoming film, which premiered at SXSW to strong reviews.
“Baby Driver” doesn’t arrive in theaters until later this month, but the tracklist to its soundtrack (which includes three different songs with the word “baby” in the title) is now available courtesy of NME:...

Academy Award-nominated production designer K.K Barrett ("Her," "Where the Wild Things Are") is directing the production and transforming Eric's pages into scenes of a film performed right in front of his audience's eyes. Barrett has materialized the characters of the graphic novel into physical puppets within a miniature set that will be projected as a film above the actual puppeteering. Live music from the Afiara String Quartet will accompany the film and provide a soundtrack to the love story that San has crafted. Arcade Fire has been covering local musicians in many of its “Reflektor” tour stops, including Prince in Minneapolis and Stevie Wonder in Michigan. Last night in Philadelphia, the band raised the funk meter with Boyz II Men's 1991 song "Motownphilly." Watch the fan-made video below. Arcade Fire’s bobblehead alter-ego, Reflektors, open the song, then the rest of the band jumps in with funky horns and sweet harmonies. The cover maintains all the soul of the original. Tonight (March 18), the band plays Bridgeport, Connecticut (John Mayer’s hometown), then hits Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, before returning to the U.S. with new openers Lost Bayou Ramblers and tUnE-yArDs. Lost Bayou Ramblers will join the band on its two Texas dates, April 9-10, while tUnE-yArDs will open across the southern U.S. on April 23, April 26-27, April 29 and May 1-2. Last night (Feb. 20), Arcade Fire turned NBC Studio 6B into a black-and-white discothèque with its performance of “Afterlife.” Watch it below. The band revels in the drama of its latest “Reflektor” single, opening the segment with Win Butler sticking his face in a camera for some intimate eye contact with the audience at home. Here's a beautifully animated romantic martial arts short film called "Requiem For Romance." This is a stunning short. It has a great concept, and the technique is brilliant. I'd like to see another short like this get made. The movie was created by Jonathan Ng, and here's a statement that came along with the film:
In this "crouching love, hidden breakup" story, inspired by 50's Shanghai water ink animation & kung fu films, themes of distance, tradition, art and longing dominate a telephonic conversation as a martial arts tango provides the visual backdrop.Shannon Kook, star of Degrassi the Next Generation and The Conjuring, won the best voice performance at the Actra awards for his role on the film. Vid Cousins and Kid Koala teamed up again to create the atmospheric music.
Enjoy the short!

The 2013 Polaris Prize long list was announced today, June 13, in Montreal, revealing the forty Canadian albums that made it through the first round of the $30,000 critic-voted best Canadian album award.

You don’t have to throw out Little Feat to make room for Fleet Foxes
Google “ways to discover new music” and no less than 89,800,000 results pop up. Tons of websites, blogs, radio stations broadcasting the old-fashioned way and streamlining online, not to mention music sites like Spotify and Radio Paradise are dedicated to the proposition that all people deserve to discover new tunes.
So why are so many of our needles stuck in the “classic rock” groove, playing the same albums since 1992 -- or 1968? Not that there’s anything wrong with continuing to cherish the music we grew up with. For our generation, it would be hard not to: Some of the most enduring music (at least rock, soul, jazz and blues) was made when we were coming of age. But what I find frustrating is the misbegotten mindset that nothing new is worth listening to.

Dan the Automator has made his way through a number of blog-friendly outfits (Deltron 3030, Handsome Boy Modeling School) and handled production for the Gorillaz, which is to say that our ears perked up when we heard about his new project. Pillowfight, a collaboration with hip-hop violinist Emily Wells, came about when Kid Koala (who's also in the new group) and Emily were paired up at "an artist workshop at a Canadian music festival."
The result of their newfound friendships? A debut, self-titled album that's being released on Jan. 22 (on CD and for digital download, with vinyl to follow on Feb. 26). Add in Lateef the Truthspeaker on backup vocals, and you've got something of a sleeper supergroup. You're probably not going to hear Dan, Emily, 'teef and Koala battling out Flo-Rida on the radio, but that's for the best. Listen above and share the project with your friends. Thank us later for your newfound cool.

Twelve years after the cult classic record Deltron 3030 was released, Del The Funky Homosapien and Dan The Automator are teaming up for a sequel. Despite its title, Deltron 3030: Event II picks up a decade later, taking place in the year 3040 in, as Del told Rolling Stone, “a more desperate and dystopian society.” “Bigger and more grandiose” than its predecessor, Event II also features samples and scratching from Kid Koala and vocals from actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who became friends with Dan The Automator while filming Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Dan The Automator told Rolling Stone that ...

There comes a time in every music festival's life when its organizers decide to go big.
For nearly a decade, the lineup at each successive iteration of the annual Rock the Bells festival seems to have gotten more and more audacious, the 2012 festival may take the cake.
(Scroll Down For Photos And Lineup)
This year, they're bringing out hip-hop royalty like Nas, Ice Cube, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony (performing the entirety of "E. 1999 Eternal"), Naughty By Nature, Salt-n-Pepa, Redman and Method Man (performing the entirety of "Blackout"), Missy Elliot and Timbaland (performing together), local heroes E-40 and Too $hort (performing together!) and the RZA.
Did we mention Delton 3030 is performing too? That's Del the Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala and Dan the Automator's visionary sci-fi hip-hop project. And, yes, it's pretty much the greatest thing ever.

American music fans had to chuckle back in 2008, when former Oasis co-founder Noel Gallagher raised a giant stink about Jay-z headlining the venerable Glastonbury Festival. Honestly? Hip-hop doesn't belong at big festivals? C'mon, Noel.
Well, we'll see how much water that big cup of righteous indignation holds in the next few days as fans of Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival weigh in on the news that not one, but two hip-hop legends — Eminem and Lil Wayne — will top a bill that features a dozen other rappers sprinkled in among the usual cadre of jam-friendly acts, indie faves and the usual classic rock big fish.

Director: Edgar Wright Writers: Edgar Wright, Michael Bacall, Bryan Lee O'Malley (comics) Starring: Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman The narrative begins as Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), an unemployed 20-something indie-rawker living in Toronto, is “dating” (the quotes refer to the fact that they have not sealed the deal with a kiss) an awesomely named Catholic high-school student – Knives (Ellen Wong). Scott lives in a quaint studio apartment sharing a bed with a snarky gay roommate Wallace (Kieran Culkin). Alongside guitarist Stephen (Mark Webber) and drummer Kim (Alison Pill), Scott plays a gorgeous Rickenbacker bass (and from the murky sound of it I wouldn’t be surprised if Scott uses Super-Fuzz and Big Muff effects pedals) in the fuzzed-out 3-piece garage band Sex Bob-omb (a reference to Super Mario Bros. 2, Bob-ombs are living bombs that wander around aimlessly and...

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World week is finally here! Spinner has kindly allowed both the score and the soundtrack to Edgar Wright‘s latest to stream in its entirety. The original score by Nigel Godrich is just beautiful, as it is seamlessly infested with videogame influences. He also had some help by Beck Hansen, Cornelius, Dan Nakamura, Kid Koala, David Campbell, Danny Goffey, Gaz Coombes, Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Joey Waronker, and Gus Seyffert. As for the soundtrack is is completely rockin’ and definitely worth a listen (and many more).
You can stream everything right here or purchase the two sets on Amazon: Original Soundtrack and Original Score.

Diablo Cody has been tweeting messages and pictures from her first nine months of motherhood, so it was no surprised that all of Twitter-Wood got to enjoy an official announcement yesterday that her son Marcello Daniel Maurio has arrived.
It was a busy night in tweets, though, as "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" took over Grauman's Chinese Theatre for its premiere in Los Angeles. Edgar Wright and his cast attended, as did Nick Frost and Jennette McCurdy, according to their notes. Check out what they thought and what Rainn Wilson had to say about his experience with WikiLeaks after the jump.

Universal Pictures and Edgar Wright took Comic-Con by storm on Thursday with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, crushing a packed Hall H crowd already inundated with promotional previews for heavy hitters like Tron Legacy and Expendables. But, with a fan favorite comic and an eclectic cast, Wright had everyone whipped into a frenzy by the end of the panel.
The film has just three precious weeks to reach its audience, which appears to be a niche generation of gamers, comic book geeks, and anyone not tired of Michael Cera’s awkward shtick. But Wright did everything right.
The panel was funny, first and foremost, introducing twelve cast members to the stage, including Cera in an oversized Captain America costume, graphic novel creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, a mustachioed Jason Schwartzman, Anna Kendrick, former Superman Brandon Routh, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, and Kieran Culkin.
Wright was witty, playfully jabbing anyone with a question,...

I’m almost too excited to type this out right now, because what I just witnessed rocked me to my video-game loving, comic-book devouring core. After a six hour wait in the hot San Diego sun I saw what I can only describe as the funnest movie experience I can remember (even counting watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 when I was 8). This is the highlight of the Comic Con. This might be the highlight of my life. I saw Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World tonight, and it. is. Awesome.
Ok, so this wasn’t an objective experience. I was in a theater with 1300 other clamoring Scott Pilgrim fans. Dan the Automator and Kid Koala opened the show with a kick-ass DJ set. Edgar Wright was there… he talked to us. The situation couldn’t be a more perfect movie lover’s experience even if the cast came up on stage…...

The big question for Universal--which has certainly reached fans of Eisner-award-winning Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World comics with its multiple promo activities at Comic-Con this weekend--is whether this movie will cross over to a wider audience. The ensemble cast led by Michael Cera (who appeared as Captain America during the hilarious Hall H panel) and writer-director Edgar Wright, who worked on the film for six years, and O'Malley are all over the convention, their locations broadcast via twitter. Dan the Automator and Kid Koala performed live at the surprise screening at the Balboa, and Metric gave a concert afterwards. My mini-review and flip-cam interview with Wright are below, along with the trailer for the videogame. Universal has high hopes for the movie, which ...

Each year here at Comic Con, the parties have grown larger and larger. Walking with a fellow colleague last night, we passed the giant Machete party being held in a parking lot in downtown San Diego (check out Jen's coverage of that) -- complete with dancers, DJ, fly cars and plenty of booze. He looked at me and said, "This kinda stuff was not going on at Comic Con a couple years ago. What has this place turned into?"
Well, it's turned into quite the scene -- one where, aside from worrying about which panels you're covering, you need to spend an equal amount of time worrying about which parties you may or may not get into ... because, ya know, god forbid you misssomething at Comic Con. I've been fortunate enough to slide my way into several parties here so far by convincing people I'm more important than I am...

One of the biggest films to hit this year.s Comic Con is Edgar Wright.s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Though the film is only a little over two weeks from its release, the folks behind the film have been painting the city of San Diego the color epic. Part of their promotion is a huge set up at the Hilton Gaslamp Courtyard and it is totally rocking to say the least. Fans that head over can make their own Scott Pilgrim T-shirt, hear live music from the Dan the Automator, Kid Koala, and Gorgeous Got a Gun, create a flipbook, make a video postcard, play the new video game and a hell of a lot more. The stars of the film are even stopping by and you can even see Stephen Stills himself, Mark Webber, making his own shirt in the photos below. Check them out! For more...

Though we've barely made it past day one here at Comic Con, two movies have clearly stepped ahead of the pack in terms of making themselves even more known to the thousands of geeks here in San Diego: Tron: Legacy and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The latter film has made a little more of a splash considering it's coming out in only a couple of weeks (August 13th) by decorating the sides of buildings with a giant Scott Pilgrim poster to setting up this funky off-site fan exhibit called "The Scott Pilgrim Experience".

If you don’t know what San Diego Comic-Con (Sdcc) is, then have a look at Wikipedia here which will give you the run down of the biggest movie convention in the world. It takes place at the San Diego Convention Center and last year, clocked in somewhere in the region of 126 000 people.
The 2010 Sdcc kicks off on tomorrow but already San Diego is buzzing with excitement for the movies that are coming out in the coming months. One that we’re all very excited for is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which stars Michael Cera and is directed by Egdar Wright. Scott Pilgrim has it’s own Comic-Con twitter feed called @SPvsCC. It’s worth following as they’ve already tweeted a couple of images which shows a gigantic Scot Pilgrim banner which is engulfing the Hilton Hotel and another image for a movie called Skyline which I’ve not heard of until today.
