Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! — the Harley Quinn spin-off series coming to Max — will differ from its predecessor in a key way, according to storyboard artist on both DC shows Christopher Jones.
The 10-episode animated series will revolve around Harley Quinn side character Chuck Brown (Kite-Man), and will take place within the original show's universe. If the character's name sounds silly, that's because he is one of those goofy D-list villains in the vein of Condiment King or the Baffler.
Kite-Man: Hell Yeah! was originally titled Noonan's, referencing the bar that appears throughout Harley Quinn's run. In both iterations, Kite-Man would be seen working with the likes of Bane and Lex Luthor — all three of whom have appeared as relatively prominent side characters in Harley Quinn.

Los Angeles, CA – Noir Caesar Entertainment an indie creative company that supports and nourishes art from marginalized communities across various media, announces a collaboration with Osamu Tezuka Productions to develop an updated graphic novel of Tezuka’s classic manga – Alabaster – and the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for its publication.
Alabaster will be written by the award-winning Bitter Root writer/co-creator Chuck Brown with artwork by renowned illustrator, Anna Weiszczyk.
About Alabaster
Reimagined for a new generation of readers as a contemporary graphic novel from Noir Caesar, Alabaster reinterprets Ralph Ellison’s novel “The Invisible Man,” and follows a former successful Black athlete, James Block, who is framed by his girlfriend and wrongfully imprisoned. While inside, James befriends a disgraced scientist that gives him the solution to his problems—a laser gun that either turns its subject invisible or kills them upon usage. After serving his prison sentence and locating the device,...

Ams Pictures has released the trailer for its new documentary “Karen Carpenter: Starving for Perfection,” which celebrates the pop singer’s life and music as well as details her untimely death after struggling with anorexia nervosa.
The Carpenters were a top musical act in the 1970s with songs such as “Close to You” and “We’ve Only Just Begun.” However, Karen’s chase for perfection and struggle with the at-the-time vastly misunderstood eating disorder led to her death at age 32.
Using unreleased recordings and celebrity interviews – including with Olivia Newton-John, Cynthia Gibb, Suzanne Somers, Kristin Chenoweth, Carnie Wilson, Bob James and Carol Burnett – the documentary sheds light on the singer’s short life and musical legacy.
The documentary was directed by Randy Martin and produced and written by Randy Schmidt. Brad Osborne produced and edited the film, and Carnie Wilson (of the pop band Wilson Phillips) and Andy Streitfeld executive produced the documentary.

You know the score by now with these 100 page anniversary specials. They are a celebration of some of the most iconic characters DC has on their roster, with a nice blend of multiple covers by great artists, around a dozen stories by different writers and artists and some bonus pin-ups. Pricey, but usually worth the money. Aquaman is certainly worthy of celebration, reaching 80 years in print is no mean feat after all, though he’s not always been such a celebrated character. Often the focus of ridicule in fact, despite being one of the longest serving members of the Justice League. I always liked the classic Aquaman personally, not so much the post-Peter David version, hook for hand and all. To each their own though. Which is lucky, as you can choose from the following 11 stories and eras. Let’s take a look.

Carl “Chucky” Thompson, a producer and multi-instrumentalist whose slick samples of Seventies and Eighties soul underpinned some of the most popular R&b and hip-hop tracks of the Nineties, died on Monday at age 53, his rep confirmed to Rolling Stone. A cause of death was not immediately available.
In the Nineties, mainstream hip-hop started to move away from building tracks on obscure samples, choosing instead to craft songs around loops of well-known refrains and bass-lines from earlier eras. P. Diddy and his crew of producers — a group known as the...

D.C.-born record producer Chucky Thompson, who made music with some of the biggest hip hop and R&b stars of the ’90s, has died according to multiple reports.
Producer Young Guru broke the news on Monday and paid homage to Thompson, who mentored him early on at Bad Boy Records.
“There is nothing I can write that will take away this pain,” Guru wrote in a caption to a posted photo of himself and Thompson. “I have to say Rip to my mentor, my big brother, the man who changed my life forever. You were the kindest person the world has ever seen. You were the most gifted musician I have ever been around. You treated my like family from day one.”
He continued: “You made a point to the labels that I had to fly to New York with you on ever session. You put me in rooms with Biggie.

Regina King has been tapped to direct “Bitter Root,” a film adaptation of the Harlem Renaissance-set comic book series.
Along with directing, King will produce the movie for Legendary Pictures. Additional producers include “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian of Proximity Media.
The comic book creators, David F. Walker, Sanford Green and Chuck Brown, will executive produce the film adaptation with Drapetomedia’s Sean Owolo.
Set during the vibrant Harlem Renaissance of 1924, “Bitter Root” follows a fractured family of once-great monster hunters who face an unimaginable evil that descends upon New York City. For generations, the Sangeryes have hunted and cured those infected by a supernatural force that feeds off the prejudice of the era, transforming humans into monsters. With most of the kin dead, the surviving Sangeryes have the unenviable choice to save or kill the creatures in hopes of thwarting an invasion.

Back in October, Apple TV+ acquired the rights to a whole host of Peanuts holiday specials including “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.” This was great news to Apple shareholders and Apple TV+ subscribers (all 13 of us), but it also raised concern about how many timeless classic holiday specials would soon find their way behind corporate paywalls.
Thankfully, it would appear that Apple heard those concerns and registered them. For now the company has announced that “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will be receiving special broadcast airings on PBS in addition to its Apple TV+ premiere. Here is everything you need to know about when and where you can find “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” this holiday season.
On the streaming side of things, the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special is already available to be streamed on Apple TV+ as of Nov. 18. Subscriptions to Apple’s streaming service cost $4.99 a month after a seven day free trial.

The concert season never really ends. It just moves indoors and outdoors as the weather permits, allowing stars to choose between intimate venues, sheds, stadiums and arenas, as their following permits.
Two attractions dominated the concert news this week. One is an up-and-comer, the other a returning veteran. And for those who can’t choose between new and old, there’s always the musical selections of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which offers something for everyone.
This week in music:

Exclusive: Legendary Pictures has acquired the feature film rights to Bitter Root, the acclaimed horror-action series from Image Comics that centers on an African-American family of monster hunters who ply their trade in New York City during the stirring era of the Jazz Age.
Bitter Root is set in 1924 against the vibrant backdrop of the Harlem Renaissance where a family of once-great monster hunters is the only line of defense that can protect New York City from an unimaginable evil that is approaching — an invasion by hideous monsters that were once human beings before they were transmogrified by a supernatural force feeding off of prejudice, spite, and bigotry. U.S. Patent Office Cancels Washington Redskins Trademark
Calling the name "disparaging of Native Americans," the Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board canceled federal trademark registrations owned by the team, a move which could cost them millions in merchandise revenue (the team is expected to appeal the decision). And nothing hurts...
