Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba is still making sense of something he saw one day on the way to the recording studio: A man on the side of the road battling his mental health, violently screaming at the world. “He was throwing his arms and legs about,” the singer and guitarist tells Rolling Stone. “It was a display of rage in front of this bush, but it looked like he was dancing.”
He noticed other passersby gawking at the man with amusement, but Skiba felt compassion — and curiosity. “I was just thinking,...

Alkaline Trio have shared “Bad Time,” the second single from their upcoming album, Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs.
“Bad Time” was inspired by terrifying real-life events, as vocalist Matt Skiba explained in a press statement. “‘Bad Time’ was initially inspired by a friend and crush who happened to call me while I was on tour in El Paso, TX as an active shooter situation was happening just across from where we were staying,” he said. “We could hear gunshots and sirens as the situation escalated. My friend asked if it was a bad time to talk, and I said no — I really wanted to speak with her. It was actually a terrible and terrifying time, but it was never a bad time to hear her voice.”
He continued, “The second verse goes back to a time in Chicago when my roommate Bobby and I were almost killed in the crossfire of...

It was a strong week for rock music on the Billboard 200 albums chart, led by Blink 182‘s new studio album “One More Time.” It’s the first album from the complete trio of Travis Barker, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge since DeLonge left the group in 2015. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“One More Time” debuted with 125,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams, with traditional sales making up the majority of its total. This is the third number-one album of their career, following “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” (2001) and “California” (2016). Their last album, “Nine” (2019), achieved 94,000 units in its first week, but that was with Matt Skiba as part of the lineup instead of DeLonge.

Blink-182 have added two new bonus tracks — “Cut Me Off” and “See You” — to their big classic lineup reunion album, One More Time.
Both songs are gigantic blasts of pop-punk angst, though each with its own particular flourishes. “See You” bolsters the palm-muted power-chord chug with sky-high synths and even an atmospheric breakbeat sample. “Don’t let us be over, I’ll wait here forever,” Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus sing on the chorus. “You can’t burn us with your flame/I’ll see you anyway.”

Blink-182 have officially released One More Time…, the first album to feature Tom DeLonge alongside Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker in over a decade. Check it out below via Apple Music and Spotify.
DeLonge left Blink in 2014, as the band was preparing to record the follow-up to their 2011 album Neighborhoods. Hoppus and Barker released two albums, California and Nine, with the singer-guitarist’s replacement, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. The pop-punk veterans announced the return of DeLonge last year with the single “Edging,” then recorded One More Time… during their reunion tour. Given their history, it makes sense that the group said the record covers “themes of tragedy, triumph, and most importantly, brotherhood.”
Produced by Barker, One More Time… also features the singles “More Than You Know,” “Dance with Me,” and “Fell in Love,” as well as its title track.

Alkaline Trio have announced their first studio album in six years, Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs, out January 26th, 2024 via Rise Records. Along with the announcement, they also unveiled plans for a 2024 tour (get tickets here) and shared the lead single, “Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs.”
The follow-up to 2018’s Is This Thing Cursed? was recorded by the band at a number of studio sessions with producer Cameron Webb, and takes its title from stories that vocalist Matt Skiba remembers from his childhood. “My mom worked for years as an emergency room nurse,” he said in a press statement. “She and her co-workers referred to exceptionally busy nights as ‘blood, hair, and eyeballs.’ Well, we’ve been busy making an exceptional record we refer to as Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs, too.”

Blink-182 are hung up big time on their new song, “Fell in Love,” the latest offering from the band’s upcoming album, One More Time.
“Fell in Love” is a bit of jangly alterna-pop, the bright guitars paired with some effervescent synths. Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus share vocal duties, reminiscing about those exciting, slightly stupid moments in an early relationship — until the inevitable hammer of doom drops: “It’s fucking with my head/Now we can never pretend, we can only be friends/Remember the time, we fell in love.

In a move that makes us wonder, I guess this is growing up, Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus has taken legal action against a neighbor over an encroaching pine tree, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.
Hoppus became the unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley, or, his backyard, after his neighbor allegedly violated a years-old rule by the planning commission to remove bordering trees and limit tree growth to a maximum height of 15 feet. An injunction filed by the singer and his wife now claims that the evergreen in question has risen above its predetermined peak and new trees have begun to grow in the interim, further obstructing the couple’s views.
Aside from demanding their agreement honored and trees trimmed, the lawsuit asserts that the neighbor has ignored repeated requests to resolve the issue, while the artist who once seemed to champion Neighborhoods has also sought damages in some form.

Last month, Blink-182 postponed their Latin American tour dates due to an injury drummer Travis Barker suffered on his ring finger. He smashed the finger during rehearsal, leading to emergency surgery and a later-than-expected launch of the band’s first tour with singer and guitarist Tom DeLonge since 2014.
Barker offered an update to Rolling Stone on his recovery: “I’m recovering really, really well,” he says. His cast was taken off a week after last month’s surgery, and he has been in physical therapy working to “expedite the process” of his healing.

Blink-182 have shared their first new song with Tom DeLonge in a decade, “Edging.”
The song features DeLonge and Mark Hoppus trading off lead vocals like they did on classic tunes like “Stay Together For The Kids” and “Pathetic.” “I know there’s a special place in hell,” Hoppus sings. “That my friends and I know well/There’s a perfect place to go/When it’s time to lose control.”

Fans of Blink-182 were stunned this week when Tom DeLonge announced he was rejoining the band, with the original lineup to record a new album and hit the road for a world tour.
The band made it official with a tongue-in-cheek video released on Tuesday.
DeLonge initially exited in 2005, but returned in 2009; he left again in 2015, with Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio stepping in after DeLonge was out of the picture.
Now that DeLonge has reunited with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, Skiba’s role in the band has officially vanished, something that DeLonge acknowledged with a gratitude-filled open letter to Skiba that he shared via Instagram on Thursday.

Following the surprise news that Blink-182’s three core members were reuniting, returning guitarist Tom DeLonge turned to social media Thursday to thank his replacement, Matt Skiba, for keeping the band alive during his seven-year absence.
In a direct message to Skiba — which DeLonge shared publicly because “it’s important for the world to know that I honor him” — the guitarist wrote, “I wanted to take a minute and say thank you for all that you have done to keep the band thriving in my absence.”

Blink-182 are officially back! On Oct. 11, the pop-punk trio surprised fans when they announced a reunion with former singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge and new music. "We're coming. Tour's coming. Album's coming. Tom's coming," the band - which also includes Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus - captioned their video announcement on Instagram. "Tickets on sale Monday. New song Edging out Friday."
Blink-182's new single "Edging" drops on Oct. 14, and tickets for their tour go on sale Oct. 17. The tour will kick off on March 11, 2023, in Mexico, and will extend through Feb. 26, 2024, ending in New Zealand.
This marks the first time DeLonge, Barker, and Hoppus have all reunited since 2015. The band went on hiatus in 2005, with DeLonge shifting his focus to his other band Angels & Airwaves. They eventually reunited in 2009 for new music and a tour, but DeLonge ended up leaving the band in 2015, with Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba stepping in as his replacement.

Mark Hoppus lied. Back in August, after Tom DeLonge shared a photograph of his former Blink-182 bandmates, tagging both Hoppus and Travis Barker, the bassist and singer took to social media to insist that the band wasn’t reuniting, much to the dismay of their fans. But the band announced today that not only is Blink-182 back with a massive world tour, but DeLonge will also return to the lineup for the first time in nearly a decade. And to top it off, they are releasing a new single, “Edging,...

After Tom DeLonge shared a photograph of his former band Blink-182 on Instagram earlier this week, bassist/singer Mark Hoppus cleared up any confusion on whether the band’s original line-up was back together.
“There is no news to share,” Hoppus confirmed yesterday on his Dischord page after several news outlets teased a Blink-182 reunion. “There is no announcement. Today is thirty years of blink-182!”

Blink-182 are an important part of pop-punk music from the 1990s. The band started making music in 1992, and over the years, some of the members have come and gone. But today, Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and (most of the time) Matt Skiba make up the band. Past iterations of the band included Tom DeLonge and Scott Raynor (whom Barker replaced as drummer). When a band is together for so long, though, you have to wonder if there are tensions between the members (especially those who've left) and if the guys are truly friends. Here's the sitch on whether or not the newly married Barker is friends with his Blink-182 bandmates (both past and present).

Update: Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has updated fans on his cancer prognosis via a Twitch discussion.
Hoppus told his fans intimate details during the Twitch livestream, which has been reposted to a Blink 182 fan account on YouTube.
“My classification is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma Stage 4-a, which means, as I understand it, it’s entered four different parts of my body,” Hoppus said. “I don’t know how exactly they determine the four-part of it,” he added, “but it’s entered enough parts of my body that I’m Stage 4, which I think is the highest that it goes. So, I’m Stage 4-a.”
Talking about an upcoming doctor visit, “Ideally, I go in tomorrow and they say, ‘Congratulations, your chemotherapy has worked and you’re all done and you’ll never have to think about this cancer again for the rest of your life,’” Hoppus said. He has three more chemo rounds to go.

Blink-182 fans have dealt with some pretty heavy news in the past few weeks. It started in late June when Mark Hoppus revealed that he’s battling cancer and is in the middle of chemotherapy. “It sucks and I’m scared,” he said in a statement, “and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this.”
Days later, drummer Travis Barker told Rolling Stone that they’re back in contact with former singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, and unwilling to rule out a reunion.

Blink-182 have released a new two-minute ripper about life in lockdown aptly titled “Quarantine.”
The track boasts a rugged, chugging verse that opens up into a big sing-along chorus. Lyrically, there’s plenty of vintage Blink-182 snark, with Mark Hoppus opening the song with, “I guess I’m blessed to be so fucking bored,” and later throwing out lines like, “Quarantine, fuck this disease/I’d rather be on Star Tours or stuck at the Dmv.”

The not-so-secret wish of every man-child is to grow up: Do the sex, get a girlfriend, make a mark. Two of Blink-182’s contemporaries embraced quite different versions of adulting some time ago: Weezer traded irony for radical sincerity with future-classic Pinkerton in 1996, while Green Day went political — and found a new generation of fans — with American Idiot in 2004. Weezer quickly, and permanently, receded behind irony again; they’re promoting their coming tour alongside Green Day and Fall Out Boy with a single that references, and somehow sounds like, air guitar.

The artists will head back out of their co-headlining North American tour on August 27th in Irvine, California at the FivePoint Amphitheatre. The trek continues through September 16th, when it concludes in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Riverbend Music Center.

“You talk about us like we’re electricity or something,” Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba jokes when Rolling Stone mentions the pop-punk trio’s heyday at the turn of the 21st century. But at this point, it’s a simple fact: The band, representatives of a movement that once seemed eternally youthful, is now bona fide veterans. And if there ever were a comprehensive tome on the history of pop punk, Alkaline Trio’s chapter would be penned in blood and signed with a black-stained kiss.
