Castle devotes an entire season 8 episode to developing the character of Hayley...
This review contains spoilers.
8.18 Backstabber
This week, Hayley was solidly inducted into the ranks of Castle regulars by getting an episode about her. The purpose of these kinds of episodes is to give us background and real texture to the characters that surround Beckett and Castle. They explain why these characters are who they are—because while Castle has a fine cast, it’s not really an ensemble show. Rick and Kate get character development of one kind or another in almost every episode. But it’s hard to really learn much about the secondary characters because of their limited time on-screen.
Thus we've had episodes about all of our regulars, like the one about Kevin Ryan’s past as an undercover cop that highlights for us where the steel that he occasionally shows in dealing with suspects comes from.

Castle season 8 episode 18 has a lot to live up to. The last three episodes of Castle have been some of the best of the season in terms of positive viewer response. “Fidelis Ad Mortem” was a strong dramatic case and within the realm of that case Captain Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) was shown to be the intelligent bad*ss woman that she’s been for years. It also ended the ridiculous fake marriage breakup between Beckett and writer Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion). “Heartbreaker” gave us back solid bromance between detectives Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas) as well

Castle season 8 episode 16 is called “Heartbreaker” – but it’s not a reflection of how it makes the viewer feel – thank goodness! In fact, this is an episode that has some real positive things going for it. The first is how it showcases Jon Huertas as detective Javier Esposito. Although the case is about his past with a woman he arrested ten years prior – what makes, “Heartbreaker” work as a Castle episode is: his bromance with detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever), the longstanding friendship he’s had with the woman who is now not just his boss, but his Captain

In the upcoming "Castle" episode, "Under Fire," Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) finds himself in a deadly situation, right at the moment when his wife, Jenny (Juliana Dever), goes into labor. Will Ryan survive long enough to become a father?
We asked the Devers -- a married couple in real life as well as on TV -- about the episode and the impact of a baby on "Castle."
Zap2it: What can you say about "Under Fire"?
Juliana Dever: It's actually one of the most exciting "Castle" episodes that I've seen in awhile -- and so much fun to work on. But way more dramatic than I expected it to be! We talk about ... Kevin is such a father, that kind of fumbling dad who's trying to get it right. That's really what we thought this episode was gonna reflect. And my jaw dropped when I read it. It's...

Childbirth on TV shows rarely goes according to plan. For Castle's Kevin Ryan, there will be no exception.
On Monday's episode (10/9c, ABC), Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) investigate the murder of a victim found in ruins of a building fire. The team members learn soon enough that they're dealing with a serial arsonist, which is very bad news for Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever), who end up trapped in a burning building just as Ryan's wife Jenny (Juliana Dever) goes into labor.
Exclusive Castle sneak peek: Esposito and Ryan put their feet to the fire

"The Wild Rover" displayed a side of Kevin Ryan we never knew existed before: The bad boy.
Below, our Castle Round Table Team of Chandel Charles, Jim Garner and Christine Orlando are joined by Beth from The 12th Fan Forum to discuss the sexiness of Fenton O'Connel versus Kevin Ryan and who had the most romantic moment of the episode. Pull up a virtual chair and join us!
-------------------------------------------
What was your favorite scene?
Chandel: Castle's confessing the story behind "Jordan" to Kate. I love little moments like those between those two.
Beth: The confrontation at the docks. Ryan had such true blind faith in his team that he knew that Esposito, Beckett, and Castle would be there. It really showed the depth of their trusting each other with their lives. With the addition of Castle's line about not bringing his vest it was a perfect scene.

Last week's Castle featured Kevin Ryan balking at a possibly cursed DVD. But the stakes get considerably more dangerous for the detective in "The Wild Rover" when he goes undercover with the Staten Island mob.

It sounds like Detective Ryan is doing some undercover work in the next episode. What can you tell us about that?
So basically, before Kevin Ryan was a homicide cop he was a narcotics cop and one of things that he did was go undercover. It was sort of one of these things were he spent 14 - 15 months in the Staten Island mob, gaining their trust. Getting to know people and getting people to trust him.

Hey all, Hannah here for another edition of The Shipping News! On tap this week: what to call famous fans, Sterek working for charity, a detective ship that doesn’t involve Sherlock Holmes, and the crumbling fourth wall of fandom.
Slash Dictionary: Bnf
Sometimes in a fandom there are those few fans that rise above the masses and make a name for themselves somehow. Their usernames become recognizable, they have avid fans of their own, and they can be a top source for new fandom news, gossip, events, and trends. They could be tumblr famous or have a solid following on their blog. These are the BNFs, or the Big Name Fans.
These people are typically artists, writers, cosplayers, bakers, organizers – they do something to contribute original material to the fandom that other fans enjoy. They’re usually well-connected with other fans and probably have a distinct internet personality that...

The piano where Paul played, the microphone where George hummed, the bed where John lay... are all part of the myth that is Abbey Road Studios.

Don't worry Castle fans, Luci is just fine but nowhere near a computer at the moment so the duty of sharing these terrific new Castle clips from next week's "Secret's Safe with Me" is all mine. Sounds like it will be another great Castle mystery from the description below, but you'll find out in the clips that there is some progression on the romance aspect as well as Castle prepares to go slightly more public with their relationship. Who thinks it won't be long before this relationship is completely out of the bag and causing major problems for everyone on the show? See my hand up over here? Interview - Seamus Dever Talks Tonight's Castle, and Beyond
Just like Castle itself, Seamus Dever has built a devoted following of fans for his work as Detective Kevin Ryan. Tonight's episode of Castle, Till Death Do Us Part airing tonight at 10Pm Est on ABC, is not only a Ryan-centric episode, it also gives the actor a payoff few actors get to enjoy: Dever will be marrying his real life wife, Juliana Dever, on the episode; in character, of course. We had the opportunity to speak with Seamus about the episode, and as the conversation went on snagged some pretty cool hints on what is to come from the remainder of this season of Castle.
Tvom: If most folks brought their wife to work it would be pretty forgettable, you actually get to renew your vows in a fictional setting as characters – that has to be pretty unique memory-making for you guys.

On Monday, Jan. 9, Seamus Dever will marry his wife. Again.
Dever, who plays Det. Kevin Ryan on ABC's "Castle," is walking down the aisle on TV with his real-life wife, Juliana Dever, who plays his fiance, Jenny, on the series. Yes, it's all very confusing.
"Full disclosure, my wife plays my fiance, and now she'll be playing my wife," Dever tells Zap2it. "At one point my wife played my girlfriend, and then she played my fiance, and now she's playing my wife. So it's a nice progression. Now my wife plays my wife on the show."
Zap2it caught up with Dever, who spilled details on both his real-life and TV weddings, as well as his thoughts on a Castle-Beckett romance.
What's Ryan up to before his big day?
Kevin and Jenny decide to go on a cleanse before the big day, which is a lot of fun...

For ABC's Castle, nothing makes a wedding more memorable than murder.
As Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) prepares to tie the knot with his fiancee Jennie (Dever's real-life bride, Juliana) on Monday's episode (10/9c, ABC), the death of a notorious Lothario derails the wedding planning. And things only get worse when Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) learn that Jenny has a connection to the womanizing victim.

Castle returns to ABC after taking the holidays off and front and center is Det. Kevin Ryan's upcoming nuptials to fiancee Jenny, but in true Castle fashion, something potentially life-changing forces the couple to rethink their future. Actor Seamus Dever said as much when he chatted with The Hollywood Reporter about Monday's pivotal episode, centered on the murder of a lothario who has surprising ties to Jenny. "She becomes involved in the murder and we discover some information that might affect Ryan's decision to get married at all," Dever tells THR. That's not all: The couple will have

In the ABC drama series Castle, Seamus Dever portrays Detective Kevin Ryan, a role which has become more complex as the show explores the inner psyche of who Detective Ryan is beneath his loveable, funny-guy exterior. Castle is a cop show that embraces comedy and levity in the most absurd investigations, but which will also delve into the darker side of murder, cop killers, and sociopaths. Sliding seemingly effortless between the agile comedy and finely-tuned drama, Seamus is a chameleon on screen. In an exclusive interview, Seamus shared what drives Ryan and the relationships he prizes above everything else.
In your mind, who is Detective Kevin Ryan and what do you think epitomizes who he is in his soul?
Seamus: Whoa, deep. Wow. I think Kevin Ryan is a nice guy who is always under-estimated about what he really knows. I think he is quiet and I think he is a smart-ass.

No one ever said marriage was easy.
Marriage is definitely not easy on television. Fortunately, Seamus Dever -- who plays Detective Kevin Ryan on Castle -- is up to the challenge. He will marry his longtime paramour, Jenny (played by Seamus Dever's real wife, Juliana), in this week's Castle episode, "'Til Death Do Us Part."
Dever recently spoke to BuddyTV about the episode, the character of Ryan and his TV wedding.

Forget jingle bells rocking. Wedding bells will be ringing this Monday on Castle, as Detective Kevin Ryan exchanges vows with long-time girlfriend Jenny.
In a likely unprecedented set-up, too, the characters are played by real-life husband and wife Seamus and Juliana Dever, as the former joked with me this week about the fictional ceremony providing this couple with a far bigger budget than the one they had while tying the knot five-and-a-half-years ago.
"It was fun to remember that weird cocktail of excitement and anticipation," the actor said of filming the wedding scene. "You have this fear of everything changing and entering the great unknown, but then you're just with the woman you love up there... and Juliana looked beautiful."
Of course, as is the case with most television weddings, this one won't go off so smoothly.
Look for Castle and Beckett to come across evidence on the episode that...

Castle Sneak Peeks: 4.11 "Till Death Do Us Apart"
Well, looks like The Powers That Be on ABC heard about my birthday wish yesterday and decided to finally release the sneak peeks for Castle's highly anticipated return next Monday. The winter premiere will feature Detective Kevin Ryan's wedding with Jenny (played by Seamus Dever's wife Juliana Dever), but all will not be happiness on this episode as an apparently shocking twist will disrupt the festivities.
Meanwhile, Esposito will be freaking out just a little bit that Lanie is bringing a date to the wedding and Castle tells Beckett he is also bringing someone with him.
Either way, it looks like Castle and Beckett will have their banter back at full force, which is probably good considering the mayor arc that is coming up really soon that will put them at different sides of the fence. This episode, "Dial...

Castle Photos: 4.11 "Till Death Do Us Apart"
Well, I guess I can consider this an early Christmas present, Castle fans. I was honestly losing hope that they were going to release anything about the much anticipated winter premiere - in which our very own Detective Kevin Ryan will finally tie the knot with Jenny, played by Juliana Dever who happens to be Seamus Dever's wife - but what do ya know, the promotional photos for "Till Death Do Us Apart" just popped up in my inbox.
I know this five-week hiatus (five whole weeks!) must be torture for all of you, but let's think of it this way: at least we have the holidays to distract us from the agonizing wait, right? So here is what "Till Death Do Us Apart" will be all about. A lothario is killed and our favorite dynamic duo will think it has most...

When ABC’s Castle returns with fresh episodes on Monday, Jan. 9, the first episode back will feature the wedding of Detective Kevin Ryan to the lovely Jenny Duffy-o’Malley. But will the undeniable romance of the big day spill over into the long-simmering but oft-stifled Castle/Beckett relationship, and maybe light a fire under those two?
For starters, Stana Katic tells us this much: Romance was in abundant supply during the filming of the episode, seeing as the fictional nuptials starred real-life marrieds Seamus and Juliana Dever, who play Kevin and Jenny.

This week on ABC’s Castle (Monday, 10/9c), Detective Kevin Ryan gets blindsided by a blast from the past, when the gun the 3Xk killer stole from him almost exactly a year ago resurfaces in the grimmest of ways – as the weapon used to kill a young woman.
“It’s a deeply emotional episode for Ryan,” series creator Andrew W. Marlowe shares with TVLine, explaining that such a deadly scenario is “the worst fear of any cop.”
Seamus Dever, who plays Ryan, concurs, telling us, “It is anyone‘s worst nightmare, that something that was your responsibility has now been used to kill somebody.

Guys, ABC has finally given us something Castle related. I know I was going a little crazy seeing a lot of other shows releasing promotional photos and teasers for their new seasons and nothing on the Castle front.
I am happy to tell you that we have several cast photos to share with you and the group shot is really interesting. It's got this noir kind of vibe to it, which is really, really cool (and actually reminds me a lot of the musical Fringe episode, if there are any fans among the Castle crowd). The individual shots are also great and they have officially introduced Penny Johnson Jerald as a new cast member.
As you all probably know, there have been spoilers flying left and right about the new season. The new Captain, however, is probably the most talked about topic in the fandom - other than the possible new love interest for Castle,...

Richard Castle's (Nathan Fillion) ex-wife, Gina (Monet Mazur) introduces his new and last book, but we don't know she's his ex yet and that she's also his publisher too. Small world. Castle in the meantime is busy demonstrating his true character by signing autograph's on women's chests. He's ending the Derek Storm mysteries series his final book, Storm Fall. (Referring to the death of his famous character, earmarking the death for any literary career when that happens!) Though as he explains to his daughter, Alexis (Molly C Quinn) he's grown tired of him as he knows everything the character's thinking and he doesn't like that. (Pedantically, he would know what the character's thinking, he's writing him!) At least Castle doesn't live vicariously through his characters! Meanwhile Det Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) investigates the murder of a woman covered in rose petals over her body and daisies over her eyes.

TNT has been on a buying spree lately, having purchased Hawaii Five-0 and The Mentalist. The network has added the hit crime drama Castle to it's syndication lineup. The show stars Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Desperate Housewives) and Stana Katic (Quantum of Solace, TNT’s The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice) and recently wrapped it's third season on ABC. It has built up a cult following of fans, so this is a smart purchase for TNT. Keep reading for more info from the official press release.

Hey Guys,
I just had an idea for a new feature for the website, where we will have listed all the people who are on twitter who are in the TV world. That place will be here in this post, and we can try to keep it up to date with all the latest shows and people joining from around the globe with connections to television.
Of course, I don't have the names and twitter accounts for all the people on twitter, but I've made a start and now you can send in all the twitter accounts you know of for us to add to the collection :)

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

Chicago – Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic bring their spectacular chemistry back for another season of the increasingly enjoyable “Castle,” a mystery-of-the-week show distinguished by excellent writing and some of the best lead chemistry on television.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0 “The Mentalist” was the true phenomenon of the 2008-2009 season but, believe it or not, there were a few other new programs that survived for a sophomore year and “Castle” is one of the best. Not only has the rhythm of the ensemble improved from week to week but the actual mysteries have become as intriguing as any “CSI” or “Law & Order” installment.
ABC’s “Castle” stars Ruben Santiago-Hudson as NYPD Captain Roy Montgomery, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan.

Television Rating: 4.0/5.0 Chicago – Is it finally time for Nathan Fillion to become a star? One of the most charismatic TV actors of the last few years should have become a legend for his work on “Firefly,” but that wasn’t meant to be. Now he’s back and just as good opposite Stana Katic on the very-promising “Castle,” a mystery-of-the-week show distinguished by the excellent chemistry of its leads.
