The X Factor has helped launch the career of dozens of pop acts over the last decade. It has also given us Chico Time. You win some, you lose some.
Here is our definitive ranking of the 15 most ludicrous acts to ever grace Saturday nights on ITV.
15. Rylan
Rylan was already a regular on the reality TV circuit before The X Factor (he was a runner-up in the Sky Living monstrosity Signed By Katie Price), and he was a little bit more knowing and calculated than genuinely bonkers.
However, even if those floods of tears at Nicole Scherzinger's Judges' Houses were staged, they were staged brilliantly. The perfect I'm-mad-me contestant after a decade of near misses.
14. 2 Shoes
Charley Bird and Lucy Texeira were harmless and fairly innocuous as a pop duo. They spoke only in Essex slang ("Roll!") and insisted on calling each other "shoe", but the most ludicrous...

Happy 10th anniversary to The X Factor!
We've already compiled a few of our favourite X Factor moments over the past decade, so now we're going to celebrate with a quiz to see if you can name the following 10 ex-finalists.
Do you recognise any of these former hopeful faces? Have a go below:
1. Series 5 - guess the X Factor finalist
Can you remember this slightly cheesy (and extremely hair conscious) performer mentored by Simon Cowell back on The X Factor back in 2008?
Following his X Factor departure, he's performed at Butlin's Holiday Park in Skegness, turned on the Stevenage town Christmas lights and appeared in Attitude magazine's naked edition.
2. Series 8 - guess the X Factor finalist
No-one could remember this act's name while she was on the show, so we doubt it'll spring to mind two years on. That's a shame, because this former barmaid from London had a really...

Q: We hear that you have a bigger part in this movie than in the original film.
Lee: Yeah, that’s a good thing. [laughs] I think it’ll be more of his history. His history and we will see even his humanistic traits.
Q: Do you have to train specifically for these movies or is this just the shape you stay in all the time?
Lee: You’ll see. Of course there are a lot of actions here. Much more, I think. They will use different weapons.
Q: For the character, did you look at the comics or the cartoon?
Lee: Actually, Jon wanted to show a more realistic character. He’ll be much more realistic compared to the cartoon or those kind of characters.
Q: We noticed your English is a little bit better than on the first G.I. Joe. Have you been working on your English this whole time?...

Russell Crowe has appealed for aid to help families in Texas after a series of wildfires scorched the state earlier this month.
Thousands of residents were evacuated after high winds, brought about by Tropical Storm Lee, sparked dozens of fires in the southern state.
Now the Gladiator star is keen to help out victims in Texas, where he filmed his 2001 live DVD Texas with his band Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Crowe writes, "3.7 million acres burnt, 2600 homes lost, Texas doing it hard this summer. To help out go to www.texasdisasterrelieffund.org."...

For this week's “Now and Then” column, Matt Brennan veered from his planned course.I had originally planned on writing about two brilliantly constructed, unnerving examples of the “new Romanian Cinema” — 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days and Police, Adjective, both of which I recommend. But last night, tired of waiting for Tropical Storm Lee to pass, I finally ventured out with a friend to see The Help (trailer below). We are talking here about a movie that cost $25 million to make. Not a damn thing explodes. There’s nary a man in sight, except a few straw men for the ladies to knock down. It’s a period piece that feels, in certain moments, grossly oversimplified, cheaply emotional, messy, melodramatic, and overlong. We are ...

Last weekend there was speculation as to how much Hurricane Irene sweeping across the East Coast negatively impacted the box office. Nobody is going to blame Tropical Storm Lee drenching the Gulf Coast region for this weekend’s poor box office.
Unless the movie was a drama with a two word title beginning with “The” this was not a particularly good weekend for anyone, according to Box Office Mojo. While The Help and The Debt contended for the first and second spots, two genre films were dumped onto Labor Day weekend to duke it out for the final table scraps of summer. As has been the case with every horror movie release of the past few weeks, those scraps weren’t especially meaty.
The found footage moon shot horror flick Apollo 18 (alternate title: Extraterrestrial Activity) barely made it into orbit with a paltry $8.7 million for the three-day weekend. That...

Tropical Storm Lee is predicted to make landfall on the southern coast of Louisiana on Saturday afternoon and could bring up to 20 inches of rain to the New Orleans area.
New Orleans could receive 15 to 20 inches of rain in the city and surrounding area, which has prompted officials to declare a state of emergency in advance of the storm’s arrival. Residents are being warned of heavy rain and possible flooding and some flood gates have been closed.
The National Weather Service has issued tropical storm warnings from Pascagoula, Miss. to Sabine Pass, Texas. Craig Taffaro, president of St. Bernard Parish on the Louisiana coast, said in a press statement that he was not expecting a major event.
“We’d like the public to use this as a drill. Hopefully that’s all it will be,” Taffaro said Thursday afternoon.

X Factor bosses are reportedly planning to film this year’s finalists for 24 hours a day and broadcast footage of the rows and arguments that occur backstage, on a separate spin off show.
Similar to the style of reality TV show Big Brother, wannabes who make it through to the live rounds of the ITV show will reportedly be constantly monitored and told that the use of any footage will be fair game to programme makers.
A show source told The Daily Star:
“We’re exposing everything. The contestants know they are being filmed at all times but by putting the cameras out of sight they might drop their guard.”
Other changes being made by show bosses – who seem desperate to keep viewers interested now that Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue are leaving the series – include a makeover stage, where the judges (Tulisa, Kelly Rowlands, Gary Barlow and...

If Fabio Capello was as good at managing talent as his players seem to be at spotting it on their nights out at China Whites, then the England football team might be doing a little better than they are right now. But the Italian Postman Pat doppelganger isn’t the only notable personality having priority issues at the moment. Presumably when the ITV bosses pitched Bgt to David Hasselhoff this year, the hunky lifeguard took the word ‘talent’ in the context of stag-nights and strip-clubs, rather than singing and stand-up. We should have realised what was going on when he managed to pull a lovely young lady from Wales on his way between customs and the taxi-rank at Heathrow airport.
As such, it was no surprise that Girls Roc made it through on Saturday night. The gorgeous ladies took to the stage in skimpy outfits, danced like rabbits on ecstasy and waved some torches around.

The Daily Mirror today reports that Storm Lee, an X Factor contestant from last year, has allegedly broken the terms of his contract with the show.
The paper states that Storm has “risked the wrath” of Simon Cowell by releasing an album entitled ‘Soulfillapopkilla’ without Simon’s permission.
A show source told the paper, “Storm is back living in La and returned to the studio days after the series finished.
“After waiting weeks to hear back from Cowell’s people to see whether he could fly solo, and not hearing back, he thought ‘sod it’, and decided to release it.”
As yet, there has been no official response from Simon or the show’s executives to the report.

View the original post Katie Waissel ‘can’t wait to do The X Factor tour’ on Unreality TV
Katie Waissel has admitted that despite the tough time she had on the show last year, she can’t wait to embark on the X Factor nationwide tour.
Waissel started the series on a bad foot, when she was chosen as one of Cheryl Cole’s final girls over fan favourite Gamu Nhengu. She was then branded by fellow contestants Storm Lee and Matt Cardle as a “fake” and was humiliated on a grand scale when it was revealed that her 82 year old granny is a £250 per hour prostitute.
However the 24 year old singer says that since the show ended, she has received a lot of support and can’t wait to start gigging with all her old pals.
She told Now magazine: “I’ve been gigging all over the country and the response has been wicked.

X Factor reject Storm Lee has reportedly landed a job working on Ricky Martin’s newest album.
The 37 year old singer reportedly impressed the dad of two with his performances on the ITV show and will now sing on at least four tracks on the record.
“Desmond Child, Ricky’s collaborator, approached Storm and set up a meeting,” a source told The Mirror.
“Storm is now singing on four of the tracks for Ricky’s new album.”
Storm’s X Factor journey wasn’t a smooth one and the Scottish crooner recently admitted that he had been upset and disappointed to find that he had been mostly edited out of the Charity single released by all sixteen final acts, in aid of Help For Heroes.

Louis Walsh has blasted Cheryl Cole, saying that she is Simon Cowell’s “teacher’s pet”.

X Factor reject Storm Lee has been blasting the show again today, angry that he has been cut from the official music video of the charity single ‘Heroes.’
The final 16 contestants recorded the track last month and later shot the video in a London studio, however during a live performance on Sunday’s results show Storm was nowhere to be seen and only eagle eyed viewers could pick him up in a handful of crowd shots during the song.
The official music video was posted on YouTube today and after viewing it for the first time, Lee took to his Twitter page to complain:

When Russell Tovey’s buddy Matthew Cain went to see Kele in concert, he found it to be an amazing show. But he also noticed how decidedly middle class the audience was. What follows is an interesting discussion on the impact of politics and socioeconomics on popular culture.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows crushed the competition at the box office this weekend, raking in $125.1 million, making it the sixth biggest opening in history. But what was truly stunning is that it raked in $330 million worldwide.

ABC says that the rumors that Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman are quitting Desperate Housewives are not true. Which is a shame, because then Bob, Lee, Andrew and the rest of the gays might get some screentime.

Wagner Carrilho reportedly upset Mary Byrne this week, when he walked into her room while she was changing and then refused to leave.
Insiders claim that Mary asked the Brazilian singer to wait outside her door while she got dressed, but he charged on through and sat on her bed while she frantically tried to preserve her dignity.
“She was changing before dinner and was half naked when Wagner waltzed in on her. She called for him to wait but he paid no attention,” a source told The Mirror.
“She was trying to cover herself up and yelling at him to leave. But Wagner didn’t mean any harm and thought she was joking – so he went and sat on her bed.”
The insider added: “Mary was feeling emotional anyway and lost it – crying and pleading with him to get out. When he finally did, she locked herself in her bedroom and refused to leave.

Cher, 17, has so far been linked to One Direction singers Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik and recently eliminated Storm believes these stories are all part of her plan.

X Factor finalist Wagner Carrilho reportedly threatened One Direction singer Harry Styles, after a play fight turned serious this week.
The Mirror reports that contestants were recording the video for their new charity single ‘Heroes’ on Tuesday when the incident occurred. It is thought that Harry, 16, jokingly tackled the 54 year old singer, who then failed to see the funny side and tried to head butt the teenager.
An insider told the newspaper:
“Trouble flared towards the end of a video session, when tensions were already running high.
“Wagner, One Direction, Nicolo Festa, Storm Lee and John Adeleye had all sung a line together and immediately after it, Harry was told to jokingly rugby tackle Wagner as he walked out of shot.
“Unfortunately no one had told Wagner what was in store.
“The next thing he knew, Harry was play fighting him to the ground and Wagner didn’t realise the camera was still rolling.

X Factor finalist Katie Waissel is reportedly ‘gutted’ that so many of her fellow contestants detest her.
The 24 year old singer has failed to connect with members of the public and the press and along with Cher Lloyd, has had the most negative attention focused on her this year. However, the former reality TV star is said to be even more upset that people who spend every day with her don’t like her either.
A friend told Star:
“Katie is gutted that she has somehow made enemies of a lot of the other contestants in the house. She knew she was not popular with general public, but this is very different. She keeps saying: ‘I can’t believe even the other acts hate me. What have I done to deserve this? I can’t take this anymore.’

X Factor finalist Paije Richardson landed one of the best songs on this week’s show. While some people were made to sing silly Disney songs, he was allowed to belt out Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan.
Dannii Minogue said she wanted to give Paije a chance to show off his vocals and Brian Friedman insisted that he was going to be great.
The song started off in a very low key fashion, just Paije and a piano and a Very red jacket (what is it with him and his loud coats?). His voice was amazing, though we did spend the whole time waiting for the good upbeat part to kick in…it never came.
Paije can sing but we don’t think he is memorable enough to win the competition. Our biggest worry now is that despite his amazing vocal style, he opened the show tonight and in the past two weeks,...
