In late May, Bravo's "Top Chef" arrived in New Orleans to film its 11th season, premiering on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in a city famed for fun, food and fabulous music. Production wrapped in early July.
But sitting as it does on the Gulf Coast in the Deep South of the U.S., the Big Easy is also known for warm weather -- and the "Top Chef" team could hardly have picked a toastier time of year.
Says judge Gail Simmons, a cook and former food journalist,to Zap2it, "It was incredibly hot outside. It was definitely taxing on our chefs that are cooking and on our production crew, shooting long hours and long days in 100-degree, 100 percent humidity weather. Otherwise, that was a small price to pay to get to do it in New Orleans.
"We mixed it up a lot. We're indoors; we're outdoors. We go into the countryside.

Sometimes, I fall into a YouTube rabbit hole in which I find every weird fan video dedicated to, like, Paul Prudhomme or Kim Coles. And then there’s Lady Gaga, whose cemented position in the cultural zeitgeist is so strong that one will literally find himself combing through video after video until he finds a hidden gem featuring Stefani lip syncing (believe it!) on a rooftop in Miami in 2008. But the best and strangest clip so far is footage of Lady Gaga performing at 2008 Miss Universe contest. Seeing Gaga perform her first single, “Just Dance,” while surrounded by ladies in bathing suits (and Jerry Springer and Scary Spice, too!) is so odd. Like, Lady Gaga at a beauty pageant? Standing offstage as robotic ladies in bathing suits pose for the camera? Very, very non-Gaga. But everyone starts somewhere, even if they means receiving your cue from f*cking Jerry Springer!

The internet: it is so big! When I first started using the internet in the late nineties, my family was somehow always three eons behind whichever version of America Online the rest of my friends were using. So I would sign on, and our modem was about as fast as Dom DeLuise/Paul Prudhomme (Same) in a potato sack race, leaving me with an internet connection so painfully slow that pictures literally didn’t load. All I had was the warm welcome from AOL guy and a handwritten buddy list, from which I would send pre-written Instant Messages to one person after another, hoping that someone would be online at the same time to be on the receiving end. Mr. Joe Cool Guy over here, riiiiight? Fast forward three hundred years, and here I am, a grown adult human being with an apartment, a dog, a blog, a seldom-updated Twitter account,...

U.S. TV chef Paul Prudhomme was shot on Tuesday - and escaped unharmed.
The 67-year-old was cooking fish at a golf course event in the Avondale district of New Orleans, Louisiana when he felt something hit his arm.
A .22 calibre bullet, which had failed to penetrate Cajun chef Prudhomme's skin, then fell from his sleeve.
Police officials, who admit they have no idea who fired the bullet, originally classified the incident as a shooting, but later reclassified it as a complaint.
The veteran cook started presenting his Pbs network show, Chef Paul Prudhomme's Always Cooking! in America last year.
