MollywoodThe 1991 song from the Mohanlal film ‘Abhimanyu’ will be recreated for the movie ‘Ka’, with the music remixed by Jakes Bejoy. Digital NativePriya Varrier / Jikson / Facebook.comThe song ‘Ramayanakatte’ from the movie Abhimanyu was one of the most popular songs of the early 1990s starring Mohanlal. A Times of India report said that this song is now all set to be recreated for the movie Ka. Actor Priya Prakash Varrier and actor-dancer Neeraj Madhav will be seen shaking legs for it. The music for this remixed version of the song has been done by Jakes Bejoy. The film is directed by Rajeeshlal Vamsha. According to reports, Priya is not the heroine in Ka and will be seen only in this remix song. It may be noted here that the original version of the song ‘Ramayanakatte’ in Abhimanyu was composed by the late musician Raveendran and its lyrics penned by Kaithapram.

Bejoy Nambiar’s Shaitan is a perennial favourite album of mine, his latest film David, a Tamil and Hindi bilingual features the music from a whopping 8 composers. Shaitan collaborators Prashant Pillai, and Mikey McCleary, along with Bramafatura, Maatibaani, Remo Fernandes, Modern Mafia, Anirudh Ravichander, and Saurabh Roy contribute to the wildly eclectic and amazing album that surprises with its innovation and addictiveness. David spans three decades, with three different Davids played by Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinay Virmani, and Vikram dealing with their trials and tribulations. It’s an album that works on a conceptual level as well as complementing the narrative of this interesting film. It also happens to be on my most played this week!
We start with Bramafatura’s fantastic track, Ghum Huye (The Theme of David), which is an interesting atmospheric track that hooks you in with its trance beats. Mark Fulgado and Gaurav Godkhindi are the duo behind Bramafatura,...

Gautam Menon’s bilingual (Tamil/Telugu) masterpiece Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Vtv) and Yeh Maaya Chesave (Ymc) is finally being re-made in Hindi as Ekk Deewana Tha with Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson as the leads. The music of Vtv/Ymc, composed by A R Rahman, was given as epic a status if not more than the movie. So it was not a surprise when it was heard that Rahman would be re-making the same songs in Hindi with lyrics penned by none other than Javed Akhtar.
Edt has 12 tracks and features the vocal talents of Clinton Cerejo (‘Kya Karoon’ – Wake Up Sid), Shreya Ghosa (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Javed Ali (‘Guzarish’ – Ghajini), Naresh Iyer (‘Robaroo’ – Rang De Basanti) and Rahman himself amongst others.
Ekk Deewana Tha hits cinemas 17 Febuary 2012.
Kya Hai Mohabbat is the only track in the album that cannot be found in the soundtrack of Vtv/Ymc, so naturally its first on the list.

The season of remakes continues with Force which stars John Abraham and Genelia D’Souza in lead roles. The film’s a remake of Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha starring Surya (Rakht Charitra) and Joytika (Doli Sajake Rakhna) which was also remade in Telugu as Gharsana. While the Tamil and Telugu versions were directed by Gautum Menon, the Hindi remake is being directed by Nishikanth Kamath (Mumbai Meri Jaan). One thing that remains the same is that Harris Jayaraj (Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein) who has composed for original and the Telugu remake, has also composed and produced the music of Force. Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics.
The album is made up of 5 tracks, one of which is a bonus track composed by Lalit Sen seemingly unrelated to the movie. Surprisingly, no remixes. It features the vocal talents of Shreya Ghosal (‘Bahara’ – I Hate Luv Storys), K.K (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan...

The music for the upcoming Always Kabhi Kabhi has quite the mix of music and one that really shows the range of the soundtrack is the song 'Jaane Kyun'. This effortless, soaring melody appears in two versions, one called the soul version and the other called the sufi version. While Naresh Iyer sings the soul version, Shafqat Amanat Ali brings in his experience and trademark sound for the sufi version. The essence of both versions is that 'Jaane Kyun ' sums up on a mellow and poignant note than the rest of the songs.
Always Kabhi Kabhi directed by Abbas Roshan and starring a bevy of newcomers including Zoa Morani, Giselli Monteiro, Ali Fazal, and Satyajeet Dubey, hits theaters on June 17th!
