Exclusive: Fox is developing a comedy called Remix from Sam Laybourne (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) and Mnelik Belilgne (Killing It).
The script from Fox Entertainment Studios follows a progressive, podcast-loving millennial who tries to modernize his father’s old school funk recording studio in an effort to save the family business and bond with his outdated, opinionated music producer dad. The only problem with this hopeful, optimistic vision is that Dad thinks it sounds like touchy-feely garbage.
Laybourne was most recently the executive producer of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for NBC as well as Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas for Roku. Last season he shot and executive produced his pilot Hug Machine at CBS with Party Over Here producing and Jorma Taccone directing. He is currently developing the pilot Country Eastern with Vir Das for Fox with Party Over Here producing.
Laybourne is represented by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone and Myman Greenspan.

“Did people make jokes about the plague after the plague?” asks co-writer and director Judd Apatow in a new behind-the-scenes look at his Netflix comedy “The Bubble.”
The film came about during the pandemic, and tells the story of a group of actors and filmmakers making a franchise blockbuster sequel in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a situation not dissimilar from the one under which films like “Jurassic World: Dominion” were made, “The Bubble” chronicles the increasingly frayed nerves of the cast and crew as they’re forced to quarantine in a hotel for the duration of the shoot.
Karen Gillan leads the cast as an actress from the fictional “Cliff Beasts” franchise who reluctantly returns for the sixth installment of the series. “This movie’s going to make the world forget about all their problems.”
The only question: Which movie?
Judd Apatow co-writes, directs, and produces upcoming Netflix comedy “The Bubble,” about the makings of a fictional movie in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. "This movie is going to make the world forget about all their problems." Netflix has revealed the full-length official trailer for The Bubble, the latest Judd Apatow comedy creation landing on Netflix starting on April Fool's Day next month. The movie is about a cast & crew making a movie that get stuck in a "pandemic bubble" in a hotel during the middle of production. Throughout this past week, Netflix has been teasing the movie that is being made - a dumb sequel called Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle For Everest, a ridiculously cheesy Hollywood blockbuster about, uh, flying dinosaurs. The cast features Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Leslie Mann, Iris Apatow, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, and Guz Khan. The rest of the stars of The Bubble include Fred Armisen as the film's director, Maria Bakalova, Peter Serafinowicz, Rob Delaney, Galen Hopper, Samson Kayo, Vir Das, Nick Kocher, and Ross Lee. This looks hilarious.

Netflix has released the first trailer for ‘The Bubble,’ Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy about a cast and crew of a blockbuster movie in production during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In “The Bubble,” Karen Gillan and Pedro Pascal play the lead actors in the action film “Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle for Everest: Memories of a Requiem,” who get stranded at a hotel after the pandemic halts production. Leslie Mann and David Duchovny also star, playing a divorced acting couple forced to quarantine together. Netflix previously released a meta teaser trailer for the fictional “Cliff Beasts 6.”
The comedy is reportedly inspired by the real-life production of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” which faced numerous pandemic-related delays that forced the cast to remain in the United Kingdom for months.
Like many of Apatow’s comedies, “The Bubble” stars a large ensemble cast. In addition to Gillan, Pascal, Duchovny and Mann, the film also stars...
