Stephen Colbert took his turn commenting on the Donald Trump aide making headlines as the “human printer” during his Thursday night monologue. It began with him noting that the campaign had taken down a video with a headline about a “unified reich” under Trump, which they had said was posted by a junior staffer.
The New York Times reported this week that Natalie Harp is the person responsible, both helping to run his Truth Social social media account and supplying Trump with printouts containing “mood-boosting news” the former president is often seen reading from. Colbert noted that Harp carries a portable printer that lets her quickly produce hard copies of articles for Trump.
“When she really needs his attention, she prints those positive news [stories] right on a slice of bologna,” Colbert joked, before miming Trump reading the news, sniffing it and licking it. He also continued a run of meat-related...

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert might host comedy shows, but according to a new poll, they’re about as trusted as serious news anchors.
The Hollywood Reporter and decision intelligence firm Morning Consult asked 2,239 adults in the U.S. how much they trusted various TV hosts. While the survey’s focus was mostly on news anchors, three politically-inclined late-night hosts were also included in the survey—and performed favorably.
The survey was conducted over two days in early May, well into Jon Stewart’s run as Monday-night host of The Daily Show.
Asked “How much do you trust [insert anchor name here]?,” respondents had a choice of 5 answers: “A lot,” “Some,” “Not much,” “Not at all,” or “Don’t know / No opinion.”
Both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fared about the same: 57% of those surveyed said they had either “a lot” or “some” trust in both hosts.

Just in case you weren’t sure where Jimmy Kimmel stood in the upcoming presidential election, he’s making it explicit, taking part in an upcoming fundraiser that will see him in conversation with President Biden and Former President Obama.
The event, which is scheduled to take place June 15th in Los Angeles, comes on the heels of a New York event hosted by Kimmel’s late-night competitor Stephen Colbert. That event, which saw Colbert interview Biden, Obama and Bill Clinton at Radio City Music Hall, raised a record-setting $26 million for Biden’s reelection campaign.
A venue hasn’t yet been announced for Kimmel’s event, but it’s set to include at least two other Hollywood heavy hitters in George Clooney and Julia Roberts, who are being billed as “special guests.”
A frequent foe of Donald Trump, Kimmel’s name has come up several times in the former president...

Steve Carell wasn’t the only person Stephen Colbert spent his 60th birthday with. He also celebrated with… other Stephen Colberts.
In honor of the Late Show host’s big day, Colbert’s staff members all came to work Monday wearing outfits inspired by Colbert’s wardrobe—both on-air and off.
The Late Show posted clips of the antics on its Instagram account as part of the show’s behind-the-scenes series “Late Show Me More.”
The clip shows Colbert entering his morning meeting, only to realize that he’s surrounded by fashion doppelgängers.

Elon Musk may only be the third richest person in the world, but among his peers he’s the number one target of many late-night hosts. So it’s hardly surprising that the Tesla founder—who has a reputation for trying to disrupt the media spaces he does not like (see: the social media network formerly known as Twitter)—has set his sights on burning late-night television to the ground.
No, Musk isn’t planning to hop behind a desk and deliver a nightly monologue. But apparently he does think that Grok, his AI chatbot, has the talent to out-funny all the Jimmys and Jo(h)ns who currently occupy the post-primetime daypart.
Musk took to X early Thursday to share his plans, explaining: “Grok will soon offer a humorous take on the news in the spirit of how The Daily Show and Colbert Report used to be in ancient times.

Stephen Colbert celebrated his 60th birthday on Monday—but it was viewers of The Late Show who received the best gift: an unexpected revival of “Even Stevphen,” a long-running bit from Colbert and Steve Carell’s time together on The Daily Show.
As Colbert got ready to start the show, he acknowledged that it was a monumental day for him, but opined that “I think aging is a good thing.” It was then that Carell suddenly appeared on the stage, bellowing “You are wrong, Stephen!” to his former late-night colleague.
For old-school fans of The Daily Show, it was clear that the two Steves were about to engage in one of their classic “Even Stevphen” debates. The topic? Aging.
Carell made his not-so-happy feelings about getting older clear when he lamented that “We are born astride a grave and, each day, the cruel grasp of time pulls us closer to oblivion.

Simon, 82, staged a faithful, intimate rendition of “Slip Slidin’ Away” with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone. The song, which originally appeared on Simon’s 1977 compilation album Greatest Hits, Etc., has become a fan-favorite since its release. Watch Simon’s stirring performance of the track below.
Colbert opened the show by announcing his 60th birthday, joking, “I am now the same age as Ian McKellen when he was cast as Gandalf.” Before Simon’s closing performance, the show’s guest was longtime Colbert collaborator Steve Carrell. The two discussed their early days performing in Chicago, Carrell’s recent run in Uncle Vanya on Broadway, and they reprised their “Even Stevphen” segment from their days as correspondents on The Daily Show.

Stephen Colbert’s bandleader is giving the Late Show host the gift of music as he celebrates a milestone birthday.
Born in 1964, Colbert turns 60 today. To mark the occasion, Late Show Band bandleader Louis Cato posted a special performance of one Colbert’s favorite songs. As part of his weekly #CatoCover series on Instagram, Cato performed a rooftop acoustic rendition of Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman.”
Colbert will be spending the landmark birthday at work, kicking off a week of new Late Show episodes. But he’ll be celebrating with old friends and heroes.
His guest tonight is Steve Carell, one of Colbert’s closest friends. The two came up together at The Second City in Chicago, and both went on to star in the short-lived The Dana Carvey Show. They then served as correspondents on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, overlapping from 1999-2005.

During his Thursday appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Ryan Gosling dug deep and answered some questions from the host that normally wouldn’t be revealed.
Included in that was a query on whether he had ever asked someone else for an autograph.
“The first person I asked was The Ultimate Warrior, and he said no,” Gosling said, referring to the pro wrestler. “But the second person I asked — the first person to give it to me — was Ms. Angela Bassett.”
Gosling said the moment came just after he had seen the 1993 Tina Turner biopic, What’s Love Got to Do With It, for which Bassett garnered a nomination for a Best Actress Oscar. Gosling was in the lobby of the AMC Theatre where he’d caught the movie.

Stephen Colbert isn’t laying off when it comes to Kristi Noem, the U.S. governor and vice president hopeful who’s currently under fire for shooting one of her dogs and a goat. However, the CBS host is at least going to pretend to be conflicted about it.
“We here at team ‘Late Show’ have been following the tragic career suicide of South Dakota governor and Talbots mannequin you swear just blinked, Kristi Noem,” Colbert said Thursday night. Noem’s name earned a chorus of boos from the in-studio audience. “I’ll be honest, I was conflicted about whether or not I should keep talking about it because, unlike Kristi Noem, I don’t like beating a dead horse.”
Colbert then played a clip of Noem on Fox News clarifying that the dog wasn’t a puppy, but a “working dog.”
“That’s right, an important distinction. It was a working dog.

If you watched The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Wednesday night, you may have noticed the dome of the Ed Sullivan Theatre adorned with images of several dozen people, and wondered (to borrow a phrase from another favorite late-night show): “What up with that”?
The show was celebrating the start of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month in partnership with the Asian American and Pacific Islander cultural collective Gold House. Those faces encircling the dome were all honorees on this year’s A100 list, which recognizes Asian Pacific leaders who have impacted American culture and society in the last year
Among the biggest names on this year’s A100 are Dev Patel, Keanu Reeves, Charli Xcx, Steve Aoki, and Celine Song.

Of President Joe Biden’s myriad quips and Dad joke-level zingers at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner — including around the thorny issue of his age and aimed at former President Donald Trump — one joke, in particular, referenced a notable, recent move by his campaign.
Speaking to a crowd of media figures, A-list celebrities and Beltway power brokers who’d just wrapped up their dinner, Biden started serving up one punchline after another. About halfway through his tight 15, the president referred to his recent sitdown with talk radio host Howard Stern.
“I have higher standards,” Biden said from the podium. “I do interviews with strong independent journalists who millions of people actually listen to…like Howard Stern.”
Goofing on Stern’s journalistic credibility landed with the audience, which, despite the spectacle of the star-studded event, is meant to honor the bravery, tenacity and grit of some of the best reporters in the nation.

Stephen Colbert is known for hosting The Late Show with Stephen Colbert since 2015. Taking over from legendary talk show host David Letterman, Colbert has brought his particular brand of humor to the table and has been successful at it. Stephen Colbert closed out Los Angeles’ annual PaleyFest TV festival Sunday afternoon, as he sat down for a conversation with comedian Ben Schwartz about his career and time at The Late Show desk.
During the wide-ranging chat inside the Dolby Theatre — which ranged from Colbert’s start in Chicago’s improv scene to his stint as a Sunday school teacher and his love of fantasy films — Schwartz asked the host if he would ever want to return to acting, for which he went to school.
“I was purely acting up until I had The Late Show,” Colbert recalled, as he had been in character on The Colbert Report and The Daily Show. “One of the weirdest things about taking the job is my manager, James ‘Babydoll’ Dixon, when he said, ‘Hey, it’s you.’ And I went, ‘Me?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, do you want to do it?’ And I’m like,...

Next week is shaping up to be particularly quiet one in late night, with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live still on an extended Spring break, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert set to join them.
That will leave just three shows producing new episodes: Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Daily Show, and After Midnight.
That’s not to say that the others will be out on the beach drinking Mai Tais. Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers were both in Los Angeles this past week participating in promotional events for their shows, and Colbert will be following in their footsteps Sunday, as he and The Late Show team are scheduled to talk up their show at LA’s Dolby Theater as part of this year’s PaleyFest.
Meanwhile, at least a half dozen SNL cast members are out on the road.

One of the not-so-hidden secrets of late night is that sometimes portions of an episode will be taped days or even weeks ahead of time for insertion into a later episode.
Throw a four-month writers strike into the mix, and some of those pre-taped segments are going to fall by the wayside. Apparently that’s what happened with an interview Stephen Colbert taped last Spring with actor Reid Scott, as the two discussed Thursday night on The Late Show.
“Almost exactly a year ago, you came on to talk about the final season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel,” Colbert recalled as he sat down with Scott. “[But] right after I interviewed you for a tape that was supposed to air later in May, the writers strike happened.”
The two then had some fun sharing what exactly happened in the interview that no one ever saw.

Former President Donald Trump was roundly mocked on late night television for an error-laden social media post in which he confused Jimmy Kimmel and Al Pacino as the presenter of this year’s best picture Oscar.
On Wednesday, the presumptive Republican nominee for president drew some attention away from his hush money trial, which is now in the jury selection process in Manhattan, with a post on his Truth Social platform in which he reignited a feud with Kimmel, who hosted the Oscar ceremony March 10, more than five weeks ago.
In part, Trump posted: “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from Tds, commonly known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, to the entire World by reading on air my Truth about how bad a job he was doing that night,...

Stephen Colbert stood up for Jimmy Kimmel following Donald Trump’s latest social media outburst over the Oscars, where host Kimmel dissed Trump live on stage by reading the former president’s criticism of the ceremony and saying: “Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still — isn’t it past your jail time?” In an April 17 post on Truth Social, Trump slammed “stupid Jimmy Kimmel” and called him a “horrendous” host. Trump also blamed Kimmel for the show’s “big ratings drop.”
“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, Ok?” Colbert fired back during “The Late Show.” “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from ‘Strike Force Five.’ And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”
“And for the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host.

Stephen Colbert is hitting the road.
The Late Show host announced Wednesday night that he’s packing up his desk and suits and making his way to Chicago the week of August 19, where he’ll broadcast his show from the Windy City’s famed Auditorium Theater—a landmark venue that first opened its doors in 1889 and is “so creatively named,” joked Colbert.
Of course, the timing of Colbert’s road trip is important, as it just happens to coincide with the Democratic National Convention.
“It should be a fun time,” said Colbert. “Historically, all the democratic conventions in Chicago have gone super smooth.” The show then cut to a photo of the 1968 DNC, during which an estimated 10,000 Vietnam War protestors faced off against more than 20,000 police and National Guardsmen, resulting in hundreds of injuries.
Still, the host seemed overjoyed at the prospect of being so close to all the political action,...

Late-night talk shows were like home when I was a teenager. Social anxieties could disappear, bullies were non-existent, and the humorous, non-consequential words of the hosts would calm me down after a stressful day at school. The comedians who took over TV after 11:35 Pm welcomed me into a universe I belonged to, a complete contrast from the social outcasting I felt in the classroom walls. I could live vicariously through their jokes and joyful scenarios in which the audience cheered and clapped, and nobody’s confidence was shattered by a lousy joke.
Along with Craig Ferguson, Conan O’Brien was a nightly weekday highlight. Conan’s spastic impressions and self-deprecating pokes were a warm fire in front of the TV, a silly distraction for me and so many of his viewers who loved to gather around his aura every night on NBC and then TBS at the dawn of the decade.

Stephen Colbert is standing up to Donald Trump and defending Jimmy Kimmel after the former Potus attacked this year’s Oscars host.
Colbert addressed Trump’s latest tirade against Kimmel on The Late Show, calling out his obsession with the Academy Awards.

Colbert continued, “And for the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host. Oscar viewership was up 4%. That’s right. This year, four more people watched.”
The CBS late-night show host called out Trump for posting on Truth Social while he faces trial “to stay laser-focused on the issues that voters care most about.”
