Jared Feldschreiber, born in New York City, is an author, journalist, and filmmaker. As a reporter, his writings and articles often concern foreign policy, but remains passionate about the importance of press freedom, largely in nascent democracies. Jared's eclectic works have been published in Huff Post, Kyiv Post, Jerusalem Post, UPI, World Policy Journal, Russia Beyond the Headlines, and elsewhere. He continues to interview dissidents, filmmakers, poets, and journalists, oft-times in regimented societies. He has a recurring column with Times of Israel, and on occasion, contributes to The Jerusalem Report.
Reckless Abandon, his debut novella, concerns an up-and-coming playwright and producer who learns of the toils of assembling a "dream project" set in the summer of 1984 in New York City. This Expanded Edition, published in spring 2022, contains a Foreword by Getty Images photojournalist Katy Winn & an Afterword by the author. Both give greater context to this intriguing novella that, at its core, looks at the mysterious potent drivers of the creative process, and uses the specific historiography and cultural milieu to thrust much of the narrative. The novella is on the shelves worldwide at various bookshops, record stores, museum gift shops, and public libraries. It's been met with great acclaim and is available in paperback and hardcover.
As a member of the think tank Civitas Intézet, Jared is a frequent contributor to its publication, Central European Affairs Magazine since 2021. He serves as its Warsaw correspondent, though his works feature an array of topics throughout the Visegrad countries. He is also responsible as its 'film liaison,' responsible for reaching out to his contacts in New York City and Los Angeles for future Central European-themed projects.
Jared has been accredited to cover various film festivals worldwide, including Sundance, Karlovy Vary, Gdynia, Krakow, and Warsaw.
In Feb. 2023, Jared appeared as a guest on an hour-long 'At the Flicks' podcast episode to discuss the Expanded Edition of 'Reckless Abandon' and his various swashbuckling experiences within the film and political arenas.
