A new Peacock docuseries about the ex-wife and family of suspected Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann has unsurprisingly irked authorities and some families of victims potentially tied to the case.
The project was first confirmed earlier this month, and, as The New York Times notes, camera crews have been spotted at the home of Heuermann’s ex, Asa Ellerup, as well as following her to one of Heuermann’s recent court hearings. 50 Cent’s G-Unit Productions is helping to develop the project along with Texas Crew Productions and New York Post Entertainment.

A week after the arrest of the Long Island Serial Killer (Lisk) suspect, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said that other cities have opened investigations into whether Rex Heuermann could be involved in their unsolved murder cases.
Harrison told both People and the New York Post that police in Las Vegas (where Heuermann had a timeshare), Atlantic City (which had a series of still-unsolved “Black Horse Pike Strangler” murders involving sex workers, like Lisk’s victims), and South Carolina (where Heuermann also owned property) are in the beginning stages...

NBC got slammed online after the broadcaster completely dismissed legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne during his live halftime show, part of the Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Rams NFL season opener on Thursday night.
Viewers called out NBC for basically making Osbourne’s performance exclusive to the SoFi Stadium crowd after they failed to show the singer for more than 10 seconds onscreen.

The new team at NBC’s “Football Night in America” has yet to work a “Sunday Night Football” game in this year’s official NFL season, but they’ve already weathered at least one storm.
During NBC’s broadcast of the 2022 Hall of Fame Game last month, Jason Garrett, the former Dallas Cowboys head coach who is still relatively new to the art of TV sportscasting, got a bulletin in his ear courtesy of producer Matt Casey. “Looks like we have a rain delay,” Garrett recalls being told. “You guys are going to have to fill for half an hour.” Garrett, who has been working NBC’s Usfl broadcasts to warm up for his new stint on “Football Night,” took a moment to collect himself: “Oh, this is interesting.”
Everything that could have gone wrong with that telecast did, says Maria Taylor, who is taking over as the main host of the program this season.

NBC viewers were already seeing a lot of Maria Taylor on Sundays. Now they can be assured of seeing even more.
Taylor, the up-and-coming sportscaster who left ESPN last year for NBC Sports, was named host of “Football Night in America,” the show that precedes “Sunday Night Football” and garners one of the network’s biggest weekly audiences. She becomes the series’ first full-time female host, and becomes the latest in an impressive series of sports announcers to fill the role, including Bob Costas and Dan Patrick.
Taylor picks up lead duties on “Football Night” after Mike Tirico was named to provide play by play on “SNF” following a decision by Al Michaels to jump to Amazon to call “Thursday Night Football.” Last year’s “Football Night” crew included Tirico and Taylor along with Tony Dungy, Drew Brees, Chris Simms and Mike Florio, with Jac Collinsworth and Rodney Harrison holding forth from the game site.

Parallels between film director Ava DuVernay’s Netflix drama When They See Us and a recent New York City murder allegedly involving several teenagers and a Barnard College coed are already being drawn by major media.

The park is located near the campuses of Barnard College and Columbia University in New York. Video footage from the scene aided police in arresting a 13-year-old boy and has led to the questioning of two other 14-year-olds.
The investigation of the murder is expected to heat up on Thursday at a court hearing in New York on statements given to police by the 13-year old. The case also will gain momentum next week when DNA results are expected to be revealed.

Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s Chief Media and Business Officer, said the league would defer to the TV networks on how anthem protests will be handled during 2018 game telecasts.

It’s official. Mike Tirico has been named the new studio host for NBC’s primetime Sunday pregame show Football Night in America. Tirico was reported to have been the leading candidate to succeed Dan Patrick, who told the New York Post in March that he turned down a new five-year contract to continue as host. “I didn’t want to do it and not love doing it,” Patrick said at the time.
